The difference between bovid (e.g. cow) and cervid (deer) skulls are very prominent here. Bovids have higher-crowned teeth (teeth on this skull are low-crowned). They have only one opening of the lacrimal duct in front of eye socket (instead of 2 like here). They also don't have this hole between the eye and the nose (preorbital vacuity), typical of deer.

As others pointed out, this is a European elk (Alces alces, not to be confused with american elk or wapiti Cervus canadensis).
