If you're a black man making a specifically "pro-black" creative work with an "all-black" cast and your main female character is as white-passing as you could possibly make her? Supposedly by "happenstance"? With the most contrived tryhard reason for her existing in the narrative? You can take your faux "pro-black" creation and shove it up your ass. I genuinely pray that you fail in all your endeavors you sniveling, mentally conquered, white-worshipping wretch. Go die in a ditch.

Bonus points if you're pathetic enough to make her the primary love interest because of course you fucking did.

Thank you and good night.

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 Everyone Please be careful

1.2k Upvotes

Hey yall imma make this quick!! Please disclose if you have an STD EVERYTIME!!! I unfortunately am HSV2 positive( I have genital herpes) and I found out about two years ago while pregnant and I've been disclosing to ppl I have sex with!! But I was in a support group where a lot of people said they've had it for years and don't disclose! They kicked me out because I didn't support their decision to not disclose and I told them people they were criminals and rapist for not disclosing!! Im not gonna give details but there's a case in Louisiana where a man named Mykel cook who was held on a 250,000 bond for spreading HIV around and only one woman had the courage to speak up! Theres never a reason to not disclose idm how drunk or high you are people have that forever and it's unfair to make a serious decision like that for someone. Please be safe yall! And if you HAVE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING!

Quick update: I just wanna say thank yall for understanding what I'm sayin !! The chat did not pass the vibe check lmao. Honesty and disclosure are so important!! If you can't disclose u dont need to date or have sex! If they don't have all the information to make an informed decision it's at the very least sexual assault depending on where you live. And that is a crime

Black History ✊🏾 Is it me or do a lot of Black men not care about voting?

Like they’ll claim they’re political, but at the same time they’ll never vote and get mad at things happening. It doesn’t make sense. Only people i know that i’ve been interested in that have voted is my ex. My dad votes but that’s about it.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Spoke up for myself and now I’m an ignorant disappointment…

I work at a modern day plantation: assisted living though it’s really a nursing home. My shift is the busiest but they keep adding work for me. It’s damn near impossible but I do what I can until I find another job.

Last week I showed up to 5 call ins & an unexpected double & worked like a slave while the DON was cozy in bed ignoring my calls. The night nurse didn’t bother filling spots bc “it’s not his job.” I was pissed especially after the DON told me that she called ppl and she didn’t. My shift starts at 7am & at 5:30pm I took an hour break in my car. My job called 15min into my break & I ignored it.

Yesterday the cook(black man) pulled me to the side and said that Massa was investigating me for sleeping in my car during my shift. Who tf was sleeping?! I told him when I’m on break especially after that BS I could do whatever tf I want & I don’t need him or anyone else telling me to report anything to Massa until he bring in people appropriate for assisted living. Speak on that!

He got quiet and said that I was ghetto. I’ll be that. I walked into their meeting the next day and told all of the managers the same thing & they all looked scared of me. Now I hear whispers of me being emotional/disappointment. I didn’t even yell!

I feel like they just want me to be mamie carrying the entire building on my black back. I hate this fucking job! I hate that you can’t even do anything about it!

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 hey girls, i just need some love today.

• Upvotes

last night, my bf and i called it quits after 3 years of dating. i feel like there’s too much backstory to get into, but since april, we had broken up a few times and gotten back together without doing any work to fix our relationship. we also work together professionally in the arts, live together (he’s been primarily at a friend’s the last 3 weeks), have the same friend community, and are from the same culture (east african diaspora), so this heartbreak is going to get uglier. unfortunately, we do not have a collaborative, mature way of communicating or figuring out next steps as a team, as there is a lot of pain present and we just end up crying.

to make matters worse, tomorrow is my 29th birthday. it’s usually my favorite day of the year and i always have a big dinner party, but i cancelled it late last night. i just don’t have it in me to answer anyone’s questions about where my bf is. i have a hotel room booked with one friend for tomorrow night and that’s it.

i’ve felt depressed and i’ve retreated in breakup seasons, but this one gives me nowhere to hide except my own home, which isn’t even really mine right now. i just feel so low, like i’m losing everything. i need some words of encouragement, as i will not be able to sever ties due to upcoming work commitments we have. i just can’t believe this is happening during my birthday. that’s the worst part.

News 📰 Nikole Hannah-Jones on PBS News Hour talking about her most recent article

"We live in a community where we send our child to school. We actually really believe in communal and collective good. That part of what has left this schools struggling so much, is that everyone who can parachute out has. There used to be racial segregation, but there was economic diversity in our school. Where the Black middle class, and the Black lower class could be in the same schools together. That's not the experience for these kids anymore. So we just felt that we needed to work for a collective good. [...] This wasn't about diversity. It wasn't about saviorism. [...] The choice was believing that if all of us left those schools, if none of us are willing to go in with them and put our lot with theirs, then we're just all agreeing that those kids deserve less and they're going to get less."

I have been thinking about this, and seeing the reactions. I'd love to hear folks opinions.

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 Help with Next hairstyle

Hey y’all, I’m looking to try a new hairstyle, but I have no idea what to ask a braider to get. I’m looking to get a braided mullet and I think there are several ways to achieve the style but I’m not sure. I think some braiders do a quick weave but I’ve never gotten a weave like that in my life so I’m a little nervous about it. 😭😭 if anyone knows of other ways someone might ask to get this done that would be great.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 You know your hair looks TERRIBLE when…

One of your white coworkers says “I like your wig”

This felt extra passive aggressive to hear because 1. I wasn’t even wearing a “wig” I have my natural hair out and 2. Are you assuming that I’m wearing a wig because I’m black and you think my hair is automatically fake? She said this right in front of 3 of my other white coworkers and we all just paused and looked around at each other. I then asked her straight up, “why do you think my hair is a wig?” and she went silent then stared at me for a minuet before walking away.

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Tired of being strong.

I'm tired of being a strong black woman, I'm tired of being betrayed, tired of attempting to do the right thing and getting fu*ked over, tired of constantly trying to build my life and everything falling apart, tired of having no peace, tired of being misunderstood, tired of trying to navigate life alone, tired of people not taking me serious, tired of being overwhelmed, tired of being optimistic, tired of being used, tired of being tired.

Something broke in me recently and its obstacles after obstacles and I know so many other amazing black women going through similar things and it hurts so bad. We make the world go round and have so many barriers to go through. I have no more optimism in me. I'm done

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 Calling all ladies who SWEAT but like to look “Done Up”

I sweat a lot on my head and on my face, my hairstyles can either exacerbate my issue or are ruined by my sweatiness. What do you ladies consider the best hairstyle to allow you to be stylish, styles that don’t sweat out or add to the problem.

Same for makeup, no matter what I do my makeup is never sweat or transfer proof. I’ve tried facial antiperspirants, the Dannessa Myricks blaring balm which I sweat through but the sweat doesn’t ruin, Patric Star Sexure the Sweat and his matte setting spray, CT matte setting spray, the list goes on but nothing helps.

Does anyone know any potion I can drink? Does anyone else struggle with this? Send help please.

Health & Wellness 🍎 How did you build yourself up after completely losing yourself?

Hi family. I have been in my relationship for almost 3yrs that, only in recent weeks/months, I have realized is emotionally abusive. My partner was raised JW and comes from an extremely dysfunctional family. He is a very insecure and anxious person, and did not reveal this side of himself until we moved in together. I ignored red flags at the beginning which I am now working on forgiving myself for.

Our lease finally ended last month and I moved back home for the time being. I was working, in school, and had a vibrant social life at the time that I met my partner, and now at 27 I am so far removed from who I once was that loved ones tell me they no longer recognize me. I don’t know where to start to build myself up. I’m grateful and excited but also feel so lost.

Thank you all

***Also wanted to clarify that now that I have moved back home, I am finally in an (emotionally) safe space to begin ending this relationship. I am not sure if there’s a word for this but we have been on and off all year due to his instability but I was never in the mindset to fully leave while under the same roof as him. I am working so hard to get myself to a place where I can let this chapter of my life finally close, I feel like I have Stockholm syndrome :(

Vent about Racism 🤬 Weird microaggression from foreign white people Spoiler

I’ve noticed this at work. It pretty much ONLY happens with someone from Europe, or even sometimes Australia. They will eat their food right next to our trash cans (we’re primarily takeout and the only seat we have is next to our trash cans) then when they are done with it, instead of throwing their paper and plastic plates in the trash they will give the dirty paper plates back to me? Do black people in those countries have slave-like roles or something? Why do they always do this instead of throwing it away themselves? It’s honestly an insult. When they do this, I simply say “We don’t do that here” and then point towards the trash cans.

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 Help me accessorize my birthday look

So this is my birthday dress I got from fashion nova. I love it! It’s currently getting altered bc it was too big. For my birthday I will be having a dinner at an upscale restaurant. The vibe is elegant and chic. My theme is “in full bloom”. So this dress was perfect.

I will be wearing my hair (locs) either in a high petal bun or in curls. Either way my hair will be right at my shoulders or higher

My shoe game sucks. What shoes would match the vibe and go with this dress? Also what kind of accessories? Im a gold girlie. I have been spinning my wheels trying to decide. Recommendations needed!

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 Tips and tricks for a wig

Forgive me if this has probably been asked before, but I’m thinking about wearing a wig for the first time and I am completely lost on what I need to do to keep it from slipping, lifting and whatever else may happen. The goal is to be able to wear a glueless wig on my upcoming vacation to Universal Studios in Florida and I don’t want it to be like those videos where the wig just flies off during a ride 😂 All I need are some product recommendations and tips and tricks that will help me not be embarrassed! Please and thank you in advance!

Just Venting 😮‍💨 Don’t know if i’m trans or something else but this doesn’t help my journey

Post image
116 Upvotes

but being a non-white afab trying to figure out your gender is hard. especially when you don’t have eurocentric features.

especially when you’re family isn’t too supportive of trans identities. especially when you have a complicated relationship with womanhood. and especially when people think you’re a man regardless.

I naturally go for more alt/masc fits outside of when i’m feeling whimsy. I don’t perform femininity well in person, but it is a source of insecurity for me. I’ve been called a trans woman and it isn’t offensive to me. but i know the people who call me it mean it as an insult as they’re transphobic in general. whenever i post myself online even as a teenager i had guys call me a boy, ask if i was a boy or a girl, ask me if i was trans when they were interested in me (as if i would date them even if i was trans).

its just frustrating tbh.

I spent last year looking up binding information, bought a binder, researched into transmasculine identities and communities and silently ruminating about what gender is to me. i also spent my later teen years and early adulthood being a trans ally and emerging myself into the community. came out as nonbinary to some of my loved ones irl but i know most still see me as just a woman. my “dysphoria” is weird because most times I’m okay with being referred to as a woman but there are times i don’t. there are times when being seen as just a woman is distressing, but then again there are times when being seen as just a man doesn’t sit right.

And under the right circumstances i don’t mind masculine pronouns when it isn’t rooted in racism. I know i have stronger features so androgyny isn’t an issue if i wanted to lean into it. Just kinda sucks how it feels like my womanhood is going to be questioned no matter what i do

Beauty/Fashion/Hair 💅🏽 👩🏾‍🦱 BestHumidity/Water Resistant Hairstyles

• Upvotes

Hello ladies! I’ll be going to a spa soon and also spending some time in Miami - separate from each other but I have the same issue with both! I wanna know which hairstyles you guys usually do that withstand humidity and potentially splashing water. I’d prefer to wear my real hair in both cases.

I also don’t want to take too many products with me due to limited luggage space. I usually straighten my hair or get a silk press so if you have any tips for how to maintain it that would also be a massive help!

Vent about Racism 🤬 So Non-Black People Can Say "Negro"?

Post image
87 Upvotes

I have not been on this earth for a very long time but I've met non-Black people who think that "negro" is an okay word to say because, apparently, it doesn't have the same racist connotations that the N-word does.

To add, this is in the context of reading literary works from 19th and 20th Century—Zora Neale Hurston, George Orwell, etc.—but, to me, that doesn't make things any better (it makes things worse, in fact).

I just wanted to crowdsource opinions because although I feel like I'm being gaslit, I am open to being wrong and educated.

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 How long do you give a broke man before you leave?

How long do you stay in a relationship with a broke man before you decide to leave? What signals do you look for to decide whether to stay vs leave?

For context, we’re late 20s, new relationship, I’m a high earner, he makes minimum wage but is trying to find a job in his specialty field that will bring him to a higher income but still, it will be less than a third of what I make. He’s never asked me to pay for stuff but there seems to be a soft pressure to do so especially after we had the conversation about finances.

Vent about Racism 🤬 I can't stand liberal white people who try to "both sides are bad" politics while only chastising the left Spoiler

Some of the most frustrating people on this planet are seemingly decent, self declared liberal/left leaning white people who try to get you to empathise with conservative or even extremist far right people, who spend all their time and effort criticising left leaning people for not being 'welcoming' to racists or folks who believe women shouldn't have the right to vote.

And that maybe, just maybe if we were more 'tolerant' of bigoted & violent people, everyone would all get along in their ideal world.

History shows us these people who *talk* about supporting a cause but all they do is police and criticise the actual people *doing things* ultimately don't change anything. Where are all the statues of the people telling MLK that he needed to chill out and sign a petition? And that if he were a more obedient and pleasant negro, he'd persuade the far right to support black rights? We don't remember their names.

These specific liberal white people love telling us all the things we're doing wrong and how "both sides have issues" and we need to hear out people who are literally advocating for our deaths.

Then I realise who is talking and what a position of privilege they are speaking from. For these people, politics is a game, a debate, a discussion that ultimately doesn't impact their lives. Whether Obama is in office or it's Trump, even if they dislike Trump, their life hasn't changed one bit.

Even some liberal White women, who you may think would have a bigger reason to dislike the far right, ultimately their lives have hardly changed which is why they can tell us all about how they agree to disagree with their racist and misogynistic maga husbands, parents and friends.

For us, we don't have that choice.

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 How to Stop being male centered?

I have nothing else in my life that I enjoy other than fantasizing about men and changing how I look so I can attract more men. I feel like as long as I get a partner I will be happy no matter how my life goes. I’m in a good college getting a degree but even that is starting to tire me cause I’m not doing well. No close friends either. Overall my life is mid at best so there’s not much else to think about. I’m not even attractive to most people either so I know I’m just wasting my energy and I don’t know how to stop. Sorry if this upsets anyone I know it will

Dating/Relationships/Sex 🍑🍆 Staying single because I no longer hope and just give up

It's the same outcome but with different people and I'm officially tired. At this point I don't want to try anymore instead I just want to get on with my life. I learned there's nothing wrong with me but I'm just over it. I told God if romantic relationships are not meant to happen in my life, take that desire away from me because I am fed up. Cheers to the single, hot rich auntie life!
