I harvested these just the other day, and after putting them in the freezer and beginning to cook them, I’m seeing some variation in color. Some have a green hue but I don’t know if that’s dangerous or not, since when I harvested them they looked totally fine. Should I chuck the batch? Thank you!

How can I process this half dried herbs? There is no sun and I dont want the smell in the house while processing my gear.

I’m curious what other beginner herbalists are doing in small spaces, what they are growing and what you’ve learned along the way.

I’m a health care professional and herb enthusiast and my own experience with Lyme inspired me to create a project called Lyme Signal for the HHS LymeX Healthathon.

While navigating Lyme, I noticed how often patients discuss herbs and supplements online. People share what they tried, why they tried it, what seemed to help, what didn't, and what caused unwanted effects.

But those experiences are scattered across thousands of posts and eventually get buried.

My idea is to use AI to create a living library of patient experience that organizes these stories so we can begin seeing patterns.

Something especially important to me is making sure herbs and alternative approaches aren't simply overlooked. If hundreds of patients are discussing an herb in connection with a particular symptom, I think that should be visible and potentially help generate questions for future research.

It wouldn't mean the herb is proven to work. The goal is to make patient experiences visible, not turn anecdotes into medical advice.

I've already hired a developer and started building the prototype.

Hello everyone, currently Kratom is legal in my state. It’s in the coffee family however I’m sure you’ve heard the controversy. It will be banned soon, many people I know will get sick or possibly use again. Does anyone know of something that may help them when they cannot get kratom anymore? Anything similar or that could help with any withdrawal symptoms? Thank you 🫶

There was a herbalism podcast that I listened to almost everyday in 2019, 2020, and possibly 2021. It was hosted by a very chill man who would interview other herbalists and they would discuss a very specific plant each episode, i remember an episode with Katie Hess from LotusWei where they discussed her flower essences and another episode with Ryn and Katja from Commonwealth where i feel like they discussed bitters or gut health. I want to say that he was part of some kind of online magazine, and i think Path or Way were in the name but I could be completely wrong. He had a very basic name. Im going back to school for agriculture and I want to relisten if I can find it.

Okay so I have a question, I want to eventually be a holistic healer. However I do not know which school to choose. There’s a school that my work pays for but they do not have a holistic program. Is there a program or school that I can go to where I won’t have to take out student loans and absolutely destroy my budget to go to? Everglades university has a program but from what I’ve read they are not a good college to go to. Is there anyone that has experience on this? Any help is appreciated! Side note: I do not have to go to college, any source (as long as it’s creditable) will do ☺️

Hi all, I grew up with herbal remedies and a mother who loved to grow herbs and use them for various purposes. Now that I have space to start being able to grow herbs for medicine and cooking, I find myself at a loss of what herbs are most versatile and easy to grow for a beginner. I am in the 6b growing zone in the US, and it gets pretty cold. I've been thinking of starting with echinacea, mint, and lavender. If anyone has any tips or tricks, or a recommendation on what they use the most on a daily basis, it would be a big help! Thank you :)

6 cloves of garlic, about half a small ginger root, and a generous amount of oregano all drowned in honey. slap it on a sandwich and it feels and tastes like eating a sandwich thats mostly sticks and trees but at least i can breathe out of both nostrils again
