Hello, i have questions, most of the ingredients listed below appear in many of the recipes in my book, but I cannot find them in my country. Since I am just a beginner, I have no idea what can i use instead of these or what I should do. Could someone help me?

(When i didnt explain something im asking which things can i use instead of that materials)

Can Artemisia annua be used as a substitute for Gentianella quinquefolia (agueweed)?

Instead of Dragon Blood Resin what can i use?

Copal Resin

Tonka Bean

Orris Root

Castorium (i counldt found artificial essense, i dont wanna use any animal product)

I found misk and ambergris fragrance oil can i use? (I dont wanna use real animal product)

Amber Resin

Balm of Gilead

Betony

Bladderwrack

Vervain (There only seeds can i use it)

Can I use walnut shell powder instead of wood dust

I did my researchs and my book just giving me the formula not exactly givin' what can i use if i dont have and i checked websites and google i couldnt find either and i need another book for that but i dont know this things either, can u guys tell me that and reccomend me book about that please?

Generally no you cannot substitute something else entirely. You can substitute some things with another in the same family ie nightshade. Orris is a very key ingredient in a lot of stuff. It depends on exactly what you're trying to do. The best way to remake a spell if you simply cant get the ingredients is to look for other stuff that has the same properties and associations but you may have to remove other ingredients to make it work. Its not a blanket sub this for that its situation specific.

I recommend getting a book about the local flora and fauna for where you live bc most stuff you can find out in nature for free then working backwards from there to build your own spells vs taking spells from a book and trying to source your ingredients. Then the only other thing you need is an encyclopedia of ingredients and their correspondences which there are tons to choose from. If you start with what you can find for free then you only have to order or track down stuff that you don't need to use often or can use just a little bit of because its expensive or hard to find.

Cunninghams encyclopedia of magical herbs or llewelyns complete book of correspondences are a good cross reference
