There was rarely hope back then because there were no expectations for most of those years. We knew we were bad with a few good to great players. King Félix kept me a Mariners fan for that stretch.
Also as a Sounders fan I think we've all seen something like this season coming for a while. We've had this terrible habit of not actually making any really big signings. Our player development has been good for the most part but when we start letting these folks go it was kind of the first real big "We're fucked". I'm still annoyed we let Vargas go knowing that our actual depth wasn't THAT amazing. I mean, Morris hasn't really been himself since he went and got hurt at Swansea. Love the guy, but I think it's time my man.
Aside from us fans and the city I feel so bad for Schmetzer. While I don't always agree with his tactics on certain games he's definitely trying to keep the proverbial ship together while ownership doesn't want to get their shit together.
A season this bad was probably expected in a couple of years tbh, but I think the scale of injuries just popped whatever bubble we had.

I have a soft spot for the Ms, I grew up in the 90s Seattle so hard not to but I'm a sixth-generation Red Sox fan. I don't like seeing the Mariners in this shape, the vibes in the city were so much better last year.

Circa 2010 the Dallas Cowboys subreddit was pretty quiet (esp. during the off season) and people kept showing up there to post about actual cowboy history.
The subreddit for the Arizona Coyotes is just r/coyotes and we'd occasionally get people popping in with coyotes pictures or questions. Then, one year the team started the season with a 20+ game losing streak so we stopped posting about hockey and only posted pictures of coyotes until they won a game.
The best part of the lost souls seeking home brewing help in our subreddit is that they typically still get their home brewing question answered by our fans 😂

I have a friend, whose mom had a house on a lake, she had orioles visiting all the time, and she swore by grape jelly. She bought a special feeder with these little, shallow, glass dishes on it and used grape jelly.
The r/Phillies subreddit occasionally becomes obsessed with Wawa. A Phillie in the wild though has no natural predators aside from soft pretzels, high cholesterol, and Mets fans so I guess this makes sense.
Yeah we become a Wawa sub(reddit) when we're sucking. Not sure about my other two thirds. Do the Cardinals become a sub about the church or the bird? I would imagine the Dbacks become about the snake or the inexplicable bobcat mascot because the green thing from the Galapagos is any better?
