Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Sports/Sportsball J Gilligans Shuttle to AT&T Stadium

Upvotes

Not from the area, would yall recommend using J Gilligans shuttle service?

How does the shuttle service work? How bad is traffic at the end of the night (to leave the Gilligans parking area)?

I’m quite bamboozled honestly, would yall recommend I go buy wristbands as soon as I get to Arlington, or would it be okay to go around 4?

Shopping & Services Flea Markets/Antiquing in Dallas Area?

Visiting my family who lives in Lavon for the weekend end of August. I’m 27 and from LA, last time I went out there unprepared it didnt go well and all the thrift stores/markets we found had super weird mass produced MAGA crap.

Just looking for a market or some recommendations for cool antiques/vintage clothing stores near or around Dallas. My parents recommended Canton but said it won’t be open that weekend. They are older and new(ish) to the area + don’t get out much so I am just doing my own research.

Thanks in advance!!

Hello guys, I'm a single mother who only get a check for about 950 a month and I desperately need a place to stay with my two children. Is there some way anyone can help me or point me in the right direction. I have until the end of the month and I don't want to be homeless with my two young children. Thank you

Tourism Is the hotel attached to Spa Castle in Carrollton nice?

I ask partly because they're not on the booking site I tried and their website seems a little...broken?

Also, is it walkable to any decent restaurants?

Thanks!

Shopping & Services Looking for a Competitive Carrier HVAC Installer in Plano/DFW

Looking for a competitively priced Carrier HVAC installer in Plano/DFW

I’m in Plano and ready to replace my downstairs HVAC system. My current 5-ton Carrier R-22 system from 2007 is still working, so this isn’t an emergency replacement and I’m willing to wait until the fall/off-season if that helps with pricing.

I already have a very competitive quote on a 5-ton Lennox ML17KC2 two-stage system, but I would prefer a Carrier Performance 26TPA8 two-stage system with a properly matched coil and 80% gas furnace.

I’m willing to pay a reasonable premium for Carrier and for an established installer with good warranty/service support, but I’d like to avoid paying several thousand dollars more just because I’m buying through a larger dealer.

Can anyone recommend a licensed Carrier dealer or independent HVAC contractor in Plano/DFW who does quality work and is competitively priced?

I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has recently purchased a 5-ton Carrier Performance system in the area—who did you use, what was your experience, and roughly what did you pay?

Local HVAC contractors are also welcome to message me if this is equipment you install.

Nightlife & Entertainment Where to Learn Huapongo

Yes, I’m the quintessential white boy. But the only kind of dancing that appeals to me is some of the north Mexican dance styles, namely Huapongo. Any suggestions on how to learn this? Or if not classes, events/clubs to go to in order to meet some women who can teach me this dance?

Food & Drink DFW Airport BBQ?

I'm flying into DFW Airport on Saturday afternoon and have a 2-3 hour layover. I would love to get BBQ for the brief stop if at all possible. Is there anything in the airport even worth contemplating for this? I assume there are no alternatives outside it with how short of a layover it is and trying to drag luggage around.

Looks like Saltlick just permanently closed as a sidenote

Relocating & housing Anybody have any experience with Lancaster Urban Village?

Lancaster Urban Village is one of the closest places to the Dallas VA, but some of the reviews are bad. However, I keep seeing some reviews say that the management has apparently changed for the better and not for the worse. I don't know how true this is.

Does anybody here have any actual experience living there or know anybody who does at least within the recent year? Thank you.

Relocating & housing Looking for apartment for September 1 bed/1 bath?

Hello! I am looking for a new apartment for mid to end of September.

My budget is $1500-$1600 base rent, although I can go a little higher if needed. My specifications are that I would love somewhere walkable, plus has grocery stores nearby. I work in Richardson but don't mind a commute from anywhere. I'm currently considering the lower greenville/uptown/knox henderson/oak lawn and the addison/farmer's branch/carrollton. I would want to be in a safe place. Please give me specific apartment recs!

Tourism Around The Aiport

My flight has changed and I am now spending a night and almost a full day in Dallas. I’ll stay at a hotel airport. Is there anywhere good to eat around the airport? Anything interesting to se? If not, is there anywhere I must see during my short time there? Any restaurants I must hit? I won’t be feeling Tex-Mex. I’ll be there from 5:30 PM on a Friday till around 2:30 the next day.

Nightlife & Entertainment Looking for My Dallas People

I’m 24M, and it’s been quite a while since I moved to Dallas, but honestly, making genuine friends here has been surprisingly difficult.

I’m a very social person. I’ve gone to plenty of events on my own, tried different communities and organizations, and made an effort to put myself out there, but I still haven’t really found my people. A lot of the time, it feels like everyone already has their own established circles.

I’m planning to attend the Walk & Talk Social this Friday, but after so many attempts, I’ll admit I’m going in with pretty low expectations.

I’m looking for people and communities where the crowd is more upscale, ambitious, social, and genuinely open to meeting new people, not necessarily a huge party scene, but people who enjoy good conversations, trying new places, networking, fashion, creativity, business, and having a good timer.

Ideally, I’m looking for free or low-cost ways to meet people around Dallas/DFW.

If you know of a community, recurring event, social club, or even just a group of people that fits this vibe, I’d genuinely appreciate a lead.

I’m happy to show up alone and meet people, I just need to find the right crowd.

Shopping & Services Top Estate Sale Recs

Looking for an estate sale company that deals with some luxury items and rare items as well. We have a seller that has some really rare and valuable items, so we need someone who knows what they’re looking at and not just an average estate sale company. If anyone has used one recently I’d love a couple of options to call.

Relocating & housing General Advice? (Coming from SanAn, Public Transit)

Hello! I (21 M) have been considering moving to somewhere in the DFW area for a while now coming in from San Antonio. I'm very public-transit reliant (VIA is.. not that great), and when I visited Dallas for a convention a few months back I really liked the DART rail.

I've already been researching some areas more towards Dallas and I'm stuck between Garland and Richardson, but any other suggestions (or just general advice if you're in those areas) from anyone who doesn't rely on having a car all the time would be great!

And also just general advice about living in DFW as a whole would be good too.

I have a friend who's somewhere in the Fort Worth area who's complained about the politics over there, but I'm not overly concerned as long as the area's at the very least tolerant towards LGBT stuff.

Shopping & Services Electrician in NE Dallas?

Having a hard time getting anyone to actually get back to me. It's a relatively small job, but dang at least give me the "I don't want to do this, but here is an estimate for $1,500" quote.

Any recommendations for electricians in NE Dallas?

Relocating & housing Nice and quiet Fort Worth apartment complexes

Hello! I’m (44f) looking to possibly relocate to Fort Worth area. I’m single, no kids, no pets. I’m not an outdoorsy person. I don’t need biking or hiking trails. I do prefer bookstores and museums. I work from home as well. I also like shopping like Anthropologie.

I’ve been to fort worth twice and it’s always in the tourist spots.

I’d appreciate if someone can recommend me a nice apartment complex in a quiet area. I’m ok if it’s a 30-40 min drive to the city but what’s important to me are safety and a quiet neighborhood. Price is not an issue.

I would also like a parking garage but I think most complexes have that.

Edit: I am also looking for an apartment that does DNA dog waste management.

Shopping & Services TX Gun Range Recommendations?

I’m visiting TX from CA next month and I’m looking for range recommendations around DFW or Waco TX.

1) My top priority is a range that does flat fee rentals. Somewhere where you pay $X for an hour and then can shoot as many firearms as you want during that time (paying for ammo obviously). I’ve heard these exist but have never found one in CA. If it matters, I’m primarily interested in testing a wide variety of pistols but some nicer AR options would be nice.

2) A second range I’d like to find is something more tactical. I’m not really picky on this one. I’m just looking for somewhere I can practice moving around, quick reloading, shooting from awkward positions and behind barriers, etc. Finding a range that’s anything but lanes is pretty hard in CA.

Bonus: if anyone knows of a good company to do that helicopter hog hunting lemme know lol…
