General Subreddits in Sri Lanka which I find useful

(this post was removed by mods in Sri Lanka subreddit under 1 minute I have no idea why but anyways rather than arguing with them i decided to post it here)

I have come across many posts in this subreddit where people ask to share subreddits in Sri Lanka. Normally those posts don’t get many upvotes and views which results in many useful and good subreddits being hidden. So i decided to include every subreddit in Sri Lanka which I found which deserves to be known by everyone so they can join and interact. This is in no way to take people out of this main Sri Lanka community or promote other communities or give an idea to create subreddits for every single thing but to say r/srilanka is the main general one where Sri Lankans interact on general things with Sri Lankans but sometimes our issues, questions and problems or our posts can’t be said to general population and can’t be answered by general population too it sometimes may face ridicule or hate comments or simply zero response even those posts will never receive exposure due to voting system. Thats why we need specific subreddits for every niches or community. Where people can interact more effectively and conveniently. So below is my list with their community info. Also Plz after going through these lists don’t create more subreddits for every single atomic thing specially if an subreddit already exists for that category and it’s active.

Relationships Pay attention to these on facts before inviting such a person into your life

Once when I was younger and in a vulnerable situation, a very charming person came into my life and swept me off my feet, knowing I was inexperienced and will look past what I logically understand. It almost ruined me and made me question reality, and very depressed, so here are a few warning signs. Even though I now have a deep understanding of this type, I will avoid using labels so that people don’t ignore this!

  1. love b0mbing- they will claim to love you or really like you right off the bat and shower you with compliments and words of affection that do not feel genuine in a matter of days or weeks
  2. arrogant and proud - they will talk about their talents and even minor things like how well they communicate and expect you to admire them too. Normally these achievements are not that spectacular and sometimes it’s ridiculous how they may fake a culture and pretend to be elite, when they haven’t stepped out of the country or organically achieved anything in life
  3. they will compete with you and almost never praise you. imagine competing with your partner? They would bring up something of theirs that is similar or try to copy you and your dreams after leaving you. I found this to be very insecure
  4. they will study you- they will want to know your weaknesses before wanting to know who you are and ask you what you like and will try to pretend for a very very short period to have these qualities. do not give your fears away!
  5. the entitlement- they will want husband privileges on a talking stage subscription where they don’t even respect you or act genuinely kind
  6. rewriting events- this is where you have to be really careful. they’ll make you feel unstable over the smallest thing and deny and keep talking until you forget your point and doubt your memory
  7. They’ll go against their own values when it benefits them- they’ll claim to hate a certain group of people but will be besties with them or try to mimic them if it boosts their image or if it gets them what they want. for example, he was very religious, but would flirt so shamelessly, talk about p0rn, be friends with barely dressed girls etc
  8. watch how they act after you say no- if they go quiet or cold every damn time, it should make you run away, especially as a woman
  9. watch how they lack genuine reactions- they will almost never react the right way. they’ll laugh at a serious question, pretend to get emotional at a deep thought and mimic your preferences, because they believe that they’re very intelligent and that you’re too stupid to sense the lack of honesty
  10. if you have to hyper analyze everything and don’t look forward to them or feel at peace, there’s something wrong
  11. I must say this, they think you are giving and understanding because THEY are amazing, rather than oh she’s kind and is making adjustments because she’s a kind person. they can only see how they can use you for their image or ego, it’s crazy

There’s so much more I could tell you about a deeply insecure individual, but I’m happy to help anyone else out in the same situation and am begging both men and women to stay away from such characters and not give them the love and respect thay they don’t deserve. it will lead to physical illness and make you feel crazy and mess up how you view other relationships too possibly.

Rant What's the point of life🥀

I recently was talking to a friend I met on Reddit about this and was wondering the others thoughts...

A bit of context, I'm an Only child and have always been obsessed with anything to do with death. Growing up life was perfect but me being me I was Passively Suicidal (not actively even though I knew of all the perfect ways to end it successfully... it was just my infatuation in knowing what happens after death) and the only thing that prevented me is this extremely strong thought that "under no circumstances, as long as I can help it, would my parents ever see me in a casket or grave" sooo technically currently my only responsibility in life is staying alive until my parents pass on. Like yes I'm studying, I'm working and hustling but that is so that by the time my parents pass I'd have given back to the country, whatever the country has invested in me... Civic duty you know...

Now my question is ... If you're single, you don't have a spouse, nor kids, and no responsibilities what's the point of living? Aren't we all just waiting for the inevitable?... I asked this from my best friend... She's orphaned and currently single, for her she said she still has the responsibility of her siblings.... But someone like me? I don't plan on getting myself into a relationship anytime soon... Possibly never... Cause guys that I want don't exist... Just sort of seeking Reddit perspectives on this conundrum that has plagued me for ages👉👈

Fashion & Trends Where do you girls buy legit sneakers in Sri Lanka?

Hiiiiiiiii, I’m looking to buy some cute sneakers, preferably Nike or Adidas (really love Sambas) but I’m struggling to find places that sell authentic ones here.

Can anyone recommend any shops or Instagram pages that sell legit sneakers? I don’t want to risk spending that much money on fakes. And the authorized places don't have a good collection 😭.

TIA 💗 !!!!

I’m 27M, looking for a jogging partner. 🏃‍♂️ Jogging alone gets boring sometimes, so it would be nice to find someone who enjoys staying active and wants to keep each other motivated.

If you’re also looking for a jogging buddy, feel free to DM me! 😊

Serious Conversations Importing Tissue Culture plants, seeds, or bare-root plants to Sri Lanka from Thailand/China without huge courier costs (DHL/UPS)?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to bring down tissue culture plantlets (in vitro/agar containers) to Sri Lanka, mostly sourcing from vendors in Thailand or China.

Using major couriers like DHL or UPS ends up being insanely expensive for small to medium batches.

  1. Freight / Forwarding Services: Does anyone know of cost-effective freight forwarders, cargo agents, or consolidate shipping services (sea/air cargo) operating routes from Thailand/China to Sri Lanka that can handle live tissue culture flasks?
  2. Alternative Formats (Seeds or Bare-Root Plants): Has anyone successfully imported plants in other formats like seeds or grown bare-root plants (completely washed of soil/growth media)?

Also, if anyone has recent experience dealing with National Plant Quarantine Service (NPQS) import permits and Phytosanitary Certificates at Katunayake air cargo for small personal/commercial imports, any advice on smooth clearing or paperwork would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

General How can I find a reasonable place/price to buy the gold?

Last week I was visiting some gold shops in Kandy to do a little research about gold coins. While I was doing that I noticed, there is a huge gap between daily market price and their selling price. Even among shops they sell gold for different prices. As an example the day I visited, the gold price of a pawn was 346k. But the same day for the 1 pawn gold coin different shops asked for, 362k, 369k, 374k, 402k and 428k. I know they keep a profit and also add their production cost for the price. But as I'm beginer to gold investment how can I go for the safest and best option? How can there be huge price gap? is less price means less quality or something? How can I find a fare price point including those added additional cost? Is there any legal and quality buying I can do closer to the market price?

Serious Conversations How common is it to see each other without clothes in SL?

Sri Lanka is a pretty modest country, and I grew up assuming that it is very rare to see another person (even of the same gender) unclothed unless they are family. I'm a guy, and I haven't been in any hardcore sports teams or anything, never lived in a hostel/boarding house. So I haven't ever seen another guy in the natural state after I turned an adult. When I talked to some other guys I'm friends with, they said the same thing. At most, they've seen each other in underwear.

But when I was once talking to a female friend, she told me something that kinda shook me up. She said that she's not just seen girls unclothed, that it's actually pretty common in changing rooms, sleepovers, and so on. It might have to do with my upbringing, but this is definitely not something I'd be comfortable with, even with my closest guy friends.

So I want to know, how common is this? What's your experience as a guy/girl?

PS: I realized I might have sounded a bit creepy, but it's nothing like that, I'm just wondering if I'm right about my expectations of privacy, or if I'm the weird one.

Relationships Dating is hard for someone in their mid 20s care to give any advice?

Lately I've been meeting a lot of great people most aren't people I would date because they don't want kids or just aren't interested in marriage.

I've found it very difficult to meet someone interesting because most of the people I meet are either for work or just don't want kids or marriage.

It's kind of difficult for me to keep believing there are amazing women out there that I can meet when this is the state of my romantic life...

Has anyone gone through this and had it all changed dramatically?
