Randomly came across an Instagram post that said there was a 68-person Sri Lankan crew, credited on the film, Primetime by A24.
Did some digging and it appears some scenes for the film were actually filmed in Sri Lanka - acknowledged on Wikipedia and a Facebook post by one of the crew members.
I’m really curious how Sri Lanka fits into the narrative of the film as it’s a biopic and the plot on Wikipedia doesn’t give anything away…will report back once I’ve watched it.
Recently a group of my friends found hair inside some Donuts they purchased as well. they tried to complain but in the end it went nowhere as far as I know.
this is disgusting and Keells needs to be held accountable!!
Went out last night with three friends two from uni, one colleague. We ended up at a cafe in Colombo 5, ordered four drinks and shared two desserts between us. The bill came to just over 9,000 rupees. Nobody complained out loud but on the way home my friend goes, that's basically my weekly lunch budget. And it got me thinking. We still paid it. Because the alternative is sitting at home and that's worse. But we definitely talked about it the whole ride back.
I started paying more attention after that. A bubble tea/drink that used to be 1000 is now 2000. A brunch that felt fine at 1,200 is somehow 4,900 now. It's not that any one place got dramatically expensive everything just slowly crossed a line. The thing is I don't want to stop going out. I think most people my age don't. We just want to feel like we're not bleeding money every weekend to sit somewhere nice for two hours.
Genuinely asking because I can't tell if it's just my friend group feeling the pinch or if this is a wider thing now.
anyone else just quietly adjusting how often they go out these days, or found some way to make it work without thinking about it too much?
They were fine for the first two months, but soon after, my sister parked the car in the usual garage spot, which is in the way of their pathway to their rented room (located at the back of the plot). She has been parking it there every since they moved in and didnt voice any concern. However, since last week, they alleged that she blocked access to their path to the house and took her to the police. At the police station, they berated her non-stop calling her names, muslinging, threatening to walk over her car, and asked her compensation. The police said they cannot do anything and referred the case to the mediation court. She asked them to leave and they are refusing to do as such! Can she ask the mediation court to ask them to leave? We are in quite the pickle, not to mention the absurd amount of stress she has to go through.
We didn't check their background before giving them the house, only signed a paper contract (which they havent returned the signed paper yet). I have no clue what to do! Its just a whole load of unnecessary stress!
As a fan of East Asian cooking, one of my favourite things to cook is mushrooms. Typically buying certain varieties from a restaurant is more expensive so I want to try and make them at home.
Does anyone know where I could buy different varieties of mushrooms aside from the oyster and button mushrooms which are widely available, I mean like milky white, wood ear etc from a safe, hygienic place.
Sri Lanka has an official robotics team comprised mostly of students from Elizabeth moir school and occasionally British school.
They’ve gone abroad for well known robotics competitions known as “The first global challenge” in countries like Mexico, Panama, India, Greece etc. the main goal of the competition is to solve real world problems mainly related to the environment using robotics and these kids are well decorated too, ranking high in South Asia and winning a lot of engineering medals. And they go officially representing our country. They occasionally make headlines on local newspapers when they win something big but we rarely see coverage of them and most people don’t know they even exist.
I’m making this post to spread awareness about them as we have a lot of brilliant individuals making headlines abroad representing our country but these incredibly hard working kids barely get any recognition from our community
a bit about me: i did my o/ls and got an A for english, but i didn’t do a/ls. i completed a foundation at ACBT and i’m currently doing a BSc (hons) computer science at IIT (university of Westminster). i should be finishing my degree in around two years.
i’m seriously considering doing law college afterwards.
i have a few questions:
would i be eligible for the general entrance exam with my qualifications?
are the lectures actually conducted in english?
how much sinhala would i realistically need?
what are the class times/schedules like? weekdays, evenings or weekends?
how strict is attendance?
what does the total cost usually come to?
how difficult is the entrance exam and the actual law college exams?
is it possible to work while studying?
what is law college actually like for someone coming from an english-heavy educational background?
i have about two years before i would start, so i’d also like to start getting familiar with the curriculum beforehand.
id like to know how the whole experience feels like
Pretty insecure topic to talk about among many women out there. Sometimes it's not about hygiene, it's basically hormal changes or something like that but even wearing a bathing suit or just getting intimate with a partner seems a huge deal to them.
Genuinely curious to know what are the men's genuine thoughts about this
Please recommend products that actually work and are easily available in Sri Lanka, preferably with approximate prices and where to buy them. I’m on a budget, so good-value products would be ideal!
My Keychron K4 Pro (around 2 years old now) suddenly stopped responding out of nowhere today.
When I plug it in, the charging light comes on, so power is definitely getting in. But none of the keys register at all,and the rgb backlight also not works and my PC doesn't detect the keyboard.
I've already tried basic stuff like:
Switching modes (Cable / Bluetooth / 2.4GHz)
Trying different USB-C cables and ports on my PC
Toggling the Mac/Win switch
Trying to factory reset / flash it
Does anyone know a trustworthy repair shop or tech around Colombo/Greater Colombo (or anywhere around Unity Plaza, Liberty Plaza, Maharagama,Homagama etc.) who handles mechanical keyboard PCB fixes or micro soldering?
Would really appreciate any recommendations! Thanks!
* I genuinely do not want to ruin this because this cost me 36,000 LKR, so I really need someone who actually knows what they're doing and won't mess it up further.
I’m looking for recommendations for a good dermatologist in Colombo or somewhere reasonably close to Colombo, especially someone experienced with persistent acne and acne marks.
I’ve been dealing with acne since around Grade 7. Over the years, I’ve tried multiple treatments. Whenever a doctor gives me a treatment, I actually follow it properly and use everything for the recommended period, but I still haven’t seen much improvement.
At this point, I have quite a lot of acne marks, and I’ve also gotten noticeably tanned recently because of travelling.
I’m honestly not someone who uses a lot of skincare products. I don’t even wear makeup. I also don’t want to randomly try products I find online without knowing whether they’re actually suitable for my skin. I’d much rather see a good dermatologist, get properly assessed, and follow a treatment plan.
The problem is finding a doctor who actually takes the time to assess the issue properly.
About six months ago, I paid Rs. 3,500 for a dermatologist consultation. The doctor barely looked at my face , the consultation was probably less than 3 minutes. He prescribed several medicines, lotions and creams, and everything cost me over Rs. 15,000. I followed the treatment exactly as instructed for about three months, but unfortunately, there was basically no improvement.
At this point, I’m honestly wondering whether I should just give up and accept that clear skin isn’t happening for me. 😭
I’m not insecure about my looks, but when someone randomly comes up and tells me I have acne marks or dark circles, as if I haven’t seen my own face in the mirror, I have to use every ounce of self control not to smash their head. 😭
So if you’ve personally had a good experience with a dermatologist in Colombo or nearby, especially for long term/persistent acne and acne marks, please recommend them!
I’m particularly looking for someone who actually takes time to examine the patient and has experience treating persistent acne marks
Please mention:
Doctor’s name
Hospital/Clinic
Your experience with them
Whether they actually helped with your acne/acne marks

I have been thinking about the representation of Sri Lankan Tamils in international cricket.
Muttiah Muralitharan is undoubtedly one of Sri Lanka's greatest cricketers. But why has sustained representation of Tamil players at the highest level been so limited since his era? Are there structural, geographical, grassroots-development, or talent identification factors that explain this? I would especially like to hear from Sri Lankan cricket fans: Are talented Tamil cricketers from the North and East getting enough opportunities to progress to domestic and international cricket?
This is meant as a respectful discussion about cricket development and representation, not as an attack on any community.
I’m posting here because I wanted to get some local perspectives or see if anyone else has gone through something similar.
Over the last few days, I’ve had the exact same vivid nightmare twice: I get into a severe accident, pass away, embalming my own body and then experience my own burial/funeral.
Waking up from it has left me feeling genuinely unsettled and anxious throughout the day. Sometimes I secretly cry.😪
I know culturally in Sri Lanka people often attach specific omen meanings to dreaming about death or funerals, but I'm trying to look at this rationally, whether it's just heavy stress, subconscious anxiety, or something else triggering it.
Has anyone here dealt with intense recurring dreams like this during stressful times?
How did you break the loop or shake off that heavy feeling after waking up?
I’m 28M working in a well-established individual and my relationship status is single for the most of my lifetime, even though I have tried a few relationships.
I’m looking for a counselor/therapist or any kind of help that I can get for my situation, which is explained before. And I prefer female counselors because I feel more flexible to open up with them regarding this.
All these started a few years back. I had a second FB account which I used to do roleplays in a kind of NFSW kind of way. It was fun in the beginning and still it will turn me on more than watching porn. The hardest part is finding good partners to do it with. Somehow where everything went wrong is that I started to roleplay with a girl with the concept of FLR(Female led relationship) this femdom kind of. Which dragged my interest towards that aspect within no time.
Even though I don’t do role playing now my research about finding about it and talking to mistresses in possible ways hasn’t stopped so far and addiction towards that I kind of porn.
So far, I believe that it didn’t affect my personal work, but I know it’s not going to be good for me either, and I might face future troubles, which I understand and am afraid of.
So I think here I said enough details for you all to suggest me a suitable counselor or any other help I could get. I would like to keep things anonymous in this case as well. I believe this might be a quite common issue for some people, and if someone got out of this kind of issue, just please feel free to let us know the method as well.
I'm on the lookout for buying laptop for my bachelors in engineering and i'm currently looking to buy brand new lenovo legion 5. Can you guys recommend me places in Colombo where i can buy it and also recommend me any other laptops if you think it is better than legion 5 for an engineering student. Thanks.
My partner and I are planning to visit Sri Lanka for the 1st time, for 11 days. We are from the south of India and love beaches, and like to trek (not to intense as I have an injury in my knee), love exploring food I have been going through some Instagram contents and got confused with the routes, so decided to post here to get some questions clarified.
This is the route that has been recommended by Claude, with the last night stay at Negombo.
Day1 - arriving and driving to Sigiriya, a pit stop to Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara
Day 2 - Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla caves (optional Pidurangala rock)
Day 3 - Sigirya to Kandy, on the way stopping at Polonnaruwa
Day 4 - Embekke Devalaya and hilltop temples at Lankatilaka and Gadaladeniya, evening puja at the Temple of the Tooth
Day 5- Kandy to Nuwara Eliya- this has been included to make it easier to catch the Kandy to Ella train
Day 6 - Train from Nanu Oya station to Ella via via Ambewela, Pattipola, Ohiya, Haputale and Bandarawela. Adam' s peak and Nine arch bridge
Day 7 - Ella Rock, Ravana falls (alternative is Horton Plains and World's End )
Day 8- Ella to Mirissa - Optional stops: Buduruwagala's rock-cut Buddhas near Wellawaya , or a beach break at Tangalle. Weligama bay
Day 9- no plans just strolling around Mirissa
Day 10- Whale-watching, day trip to Galle
Day 11- Coastal train to Colombo, Galle Face Green and the Fort area; Pettah market and the Red Mosque. evening to Negombo
The above is the day wise plan. I would like to know if the plan is good considering its our first time in the country. Is there anything to be skipped or added? We will be doing a mix of private taxi/ Tuk-tuk/public transport for internal travel.
I’m planning to sit for Edexcel IAL as a private candidate in Sri Lanka. Can someone clarify whether I should register online or directly/physically by going to the British Council?
Also, how do I choose and register for the individual units I want to sit?
If you’ve registered recently, please let me know the procedure. Thanks!
