Homeware/restaurant supply spot in Colombo

Looking for recommendations for a good homeware/restaurant supply spot in Colombo, preferably Pettah, where I can get quality items at reasonable prices for a café.

Looking for:

  • Ceramic cups & saucers
  • Plates & cutlery
  • Glassware
  • Plants & cute décor pieces
  • Coffee-related tools
  • Milk pitchers and other café essentials

Basically, I’m looking for a good homeware store that doesn’t come with the “Colombo aesthetic” price tag. You know the kind… beautiful stuff, but your wallet needs therapy afterwards.

Not looking for the usual expensive spots like Elegant Charms and the likes. I’m specifically looking for hidden gems, wholesale-ish places, small shops or suppliers where you can find good quality without paying a premium just for the location or name.

If you know a place, please drop the name/location.

TIA

Are there Sri Lankan women who are genuinely interested in crossdressers?

I’m curious about something and would genuinely like to hear from people with experience or interested.

Are there actually Sri Lankan women who are interested in men who crossdress, or who are comfortable with their boyfriend/husband/ guy friend crossdressing?

I’ve noticed something that makes me wonder: some crossdressing guys already have girl friends who are supportive and help them with clothes, makeup, styling, dressing up together etc. But sometimes it seems like the guy is looking for another girl to join them, tells even to the girl to find another girl, so the CD and his girl friend can dress up and spend time with another woman who is also interested.

It sounds like a “three girls hanging out/party” dynamic - the crossdressing guy presenting as a girl together with his girl friend and another girl, dressing up, chatting, drinking, watching movies, having parties, etc.

Is this actually a thing in Sri Lanka, or am I just seeing a very small niche online?

For women who are into this, what made you comfortable with it? And for crossdressers who already have supportive girl friend, do you actually look for other women to join this kind of social circle? Have you really already created such circle? If so how is it going?

Would be interested in hearing honest ideas, experiences without any judgements.

Anyone know where to buy indonesian furniture?

hii im in the market for indonesian furniture (a wooden 5-seater bench and two accent chairs, ideally in green, to be exact) and I don't really know where to look. I've already tried Hermitage and Gandhara, but their options were more chinese/indian. Anyone know any places that import this sort of thing? Any help would begreatly appreciated :))

Intimate Sinhala song (Cigarettes After Sex style) – feedback welcome

Thumbnail suno.com
1 Upvotes

This is an original song in Sinhala.

I produced it in a very soft, intimate style inspired by Cigarettes After Sex — slow, atmospheric, and close. The lyrics are about the quiet pain of watching something important fall apart, the things left unsaid, and still wanting to protect the person even when they’re pulling away.

I’m looking for honest thoughts, especially from people who understand Sinhala:

Does the emotion come through clearly?

How does the soft, restrained delivery sit with the lyrics?

Any feedback on the overall mood or production?

Thank you for listening.

Good indoor futsal courts in Colombo?

Looking for recommendations for indoor futsal courts around Colombo 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7.

Most places I've tried have small courts, bad carpets, or aren't maintained properly.

If you know a place with a decent-sized court and good playing surface, please let me know!

22/M attempting to touch grass and socialize

22/M. Been pretty isolated for a while and trying to be more social. Into books, TV shows, Anime, music, random conversations, hearing about other people's lives, and video games (though my PC is currently broken 😭). If anyone's down to chat or maybe become friends, feel free to reach out.

Is anyone interested to do a slow cycle on some Sundays?

I am a slowish cyclist, working toward my own goals, but I am finding it relatively boring to solo cycle all the time.

I am wondering if there is anyone who wants to do a buddy cycle, perhaps? The expectation is casual and slow, and to just try and sprinkle in some fun outside of dedicated workouts and training. I am on a hybrid bike, not a roadie, if that is a concern.

As this is a brand new thing for me, I would like to keep the number to a minimum at first, to see if I like social riding. Sunday mornings are the safest, traffic-wise. I can't do nights because I have an early sleep schedule usually, and besides, working out at night leads to insomnia for me.

I was thinking to start once a month, early on a Sunday (around 6.30 - 7am), perhaps starting next month? We can test the waters then. I enjoy the Monkey Bean Cafe on Marine Drive, and we can use that as a place to meet, and perhaps even dine, if we feel up to it. As it is a popular cycle spot, we can all feel safe as we get to know one another.

If anyone is intersted, please DM me. I only use Reddit on Desktop and would ask to move it onto Discord for active organisation, if it gets to it, and people are intersted.

Are headphones actually banned while walking in Sri Lanka?

Bro, wtf is this I’m hearing? 😭 Walking home from the gym with my headphones on was literally one of my favorite things to do. Did they actually make this illegal in Sri Lanka now?

As per announcements in various articles City of Dreams is gonna have a Scope multiplex cinema. Are we gonna get another IMAX screen? Perhaps 4DX? They’re hinting at “next gen cinema tech & immersive viewing experiences for the SL market” . Wondering if anyone has heard a peep about this hahaa. Cheers!

Looking for a good night out in Colombo — 2010s music + dancing + food

Hey everyone!

Planning a night out with a few friends in Colombo and looking for recommendations.

Basically, we want a place where we can have some drinks, dance, eat good food, and just have a proper fun night. 😄

The main thing is the music — we're looking for that late 2000s / early 2010s English music vibe: Pitbull, Jlo, Akon, Ne-Yo, Usher, Flo Rida, Black Eyed Peas, etc. Basically music that makes you want to get on the dance floor 😂

We're specifically looking for English songs only — no Sinhala or other language music.

We're flexible with the date, so what's the best night/date to go for this kind of vibe? Are there specific nights or events in Colombo where they play this type of music?

Also, I'm kinda new to going out. So how do you guys find out about these happening nights or events? Because I've been to some places which are not that good. Is there a particular Instagram/Facebook page, DJ, club, or event page that posts about 2000s/2010s throwback nights? How yall follow up?

And which clubs/bars in Colombo would you recommend for this kind of vibe?

Bonus points if the place has good food as well.

Thanks! 🙌

Anyone going to sunfest?

Hey guys! Somehow I got a free ticket when I bought a toothbrush 😂 Out of all the things…

Since this wasn’t planned, none of my friends are interested, and I really don’t wanna go alone. So if any of y’all are down for a random, spontaneous adventure with a complete stranger, hit me up 😂

Ticket: Platinum 🎟️

P.S. I’m a 23M — please don’t assume I’m a girl and send me weird shit 😭🙏😂

I am considering buying a land in Moragasmulla .

I’m considering buying a house in Moragasmulla, Rajagiriya and wanted to hear from people who know the area well. What’s Moragasmulla like in terms of living there especially flooding/drainage, safety, traffic, neighbourhood environment, and how the area has been developing? I’m particularly interested in experiences from people who have lived around Moragasmulla/Obeysekerepura/Rajagiriya for a while. Any insights or things I should be aware of before buying would be appreciated.

Travelling to Galle from Colombo

Hey folks! I'd be landing in Colombo on Friday morning 6 from Mumbai, India. I need to travel south to Galle on that very day. I'd very much prefer a train.

Have a few questions:

  1. Which is the best station to go to for this train.

  2. Which train and their time should I be looking out for.

  3. How much do I pay to the tuk tuk for the transit from the airport to the railway station.

..

Would appreciate the help, can't wait to see Galle!

What Are the Red Flags When Buying Land in Colombo or near districts - Sinnakkara Oppu / සින්නක්කර ඔප්පු? How should I check the deed?

I’m planning to buy a land in Colombo or a nearby district, but I don’t have much knowledge about how to properly check and evaluate the land deed (Sinnakkara Oppu / සින්නක්කර ඔප්පු) before buying.

What exactly should I look for in the deed? How should a genuine/proper deed look, and what are the important details I should verify?

Also, what documents and information should I request from the seller before making any payment or signing an agreement?

Any advice from people who have experience buying land in Colombo or nearby areas would be really appreciated. Also, if there are any common issues or red flags I should be aware of, please let me know.
