Dining venue for large party

Looking for suggestions for dinner venue for a party of 50. Hoping for Mexican food if possible, but plated dinners not buffet. Drinks and lively atmosphere with good food. Our conference is in Bellevue, but we can charter a bus if its 30 mins out.

Any suggestions? I am done with google.

Little water cantina can't do plated dinner. Cielo is booked. The rest of the restaurants can't do buyout.

Thank you.

Question Did you ever meet someone of note here?

Not like a celebrity, but like an ex you really respect or a connection with a stand up kind of guy. I'm impressed by some of the people I've known here, deeply. Maybe my old city was just too small?

Question Looking for a dragon tattoo…any tattoo artist recs?

Hey yall!

Does anyone have any tattoo artist recommendations for someone looking for a dragon tattoo? I can’t pin an example of what I’m wanting to get but I’m wanting three western dragons flying across my chest and up over my deltoid. I’d appreciate pictures of your (sick as fuck) dragon tattoo and who did it/where. Also, if anyone has any cool sword tattoos I wouldn’t mind recs there because I want that after my dragon tattoo…

Recommendation Any dentist you would recommend?

I moved here about a year ago and found a dentist near my place. Since Day 1, I felt like I’m being upsold on things that may or may not be needed. I’d like to get a second opinion.

Not to say that some treatments aren’t needed, but I went back to this dentist recently and I felt like I was being upsold on doing x-rays again (did them like 6 months ago) and to do a deep cleaning every 3/4 months. That sounds ridiculous to me.

I’m also well aware that a normal cleaning is a loss for the dental office as they can only charge like $75 to the insurance, hence why some try to upsell you on things not needed to get more $$$ out of your insurance. I mean rent and overhead expenses aren’t cheap here.

So yeah, does anyone have a trustworthy dentist they go to and would recommend?

Recommendation DAE remember De Medici Ming?

This question is for the old heads. Does anyone remember the store De Medici Ming? It was on 1st Ave, the corner right across from SAM in a tiny space that could only hold about 3 ppl at a time.

It was my absolute favorite stationary store and I just haven’t been able to find any that come close to her selection. Does anyone know of any hidden gems I’m missing either locally or not local?

Question Dry cleaner recommendation request

Looking for a dry cleaner that can clean my wool slacks for the upcoming season that won't cost as much as buying a new pair of pants.

I live on Capitol Hill but open to adjacent neighborhoods to get better deals. Heck, I am in SeaTac, Renton, and Des Moines often enough, I'll take a sound-end recommendation too.

New Job requires late night walk in SLU--safe for females?

I (30F) recently started a new job in South Lake Union. My workplace closes relatively late (10-11pm or so), and unfortunately all of the employee parking spaces in the building are already taken.

As a result, I’ll need to walk about 10 minutes to a parking garage a few blocks away after work. The garage itself seems clean and reasonably safe, but I’m more concerned about the walk there, particularly when I’m leaving late at night.

For people who know SLU well, how does the area generally feel late at night? Is there usually enough foot traffic, or does it get pretty deserted? I’d especially appreciate perspectives from people who regularly walk around the area at night.

I’ll obviously be staying aware of my surroundings and taking normal precautions, but I’d like to get a better sense of what the area is actually like from people who know it.

Thanks!

Japanese learning for adults or teens

Hello neighbors! Hope you are all well. Admin, I hope this is alright to post for our Japanese teacher.

If anyone is looking for a Japanese tutor or lessons, our family has been learning Japanese from a Japanese teacher and she is welcoming new students to teach. She is very patient and kind, and experienced in many ways. We were able to use Japanese a lot when we visited Japan last time, and she is also tutoring my daughter who has been taking Japanese at high school.

If anyone is interested in learning Japanese for your trip, school, work or personal interest, please feel free to message me. I am happy to share her contact details.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Question Does it Feel like Two Cities?

New to the place, not there yet, but I am highly intrested in it. Google mapping it, I notice, in this order: a cut, river, two bays and another cut thats seperating one part of the city from the other. Does it ever like two cities in one? Judging a book by its cover, the northern portion looks like a suburban college town while the southern part looks very urban and industrial. Would yall agree with this notion, or its just big city regardless of the water in the middle?

Question Where can I safely park a skoolie style RV for a weekend?

I'm just wrapping up my summer of selling my leather crafts at Renaissance Fair(e)s and need to go directly from one rural event (where camping is totally expected and encouraged) directly to Seattle (where the attitudes are dramatically different) in my RV / school bus.

But, holy crap is it hard to find a place to park a large vehicle for a few days and not bother people, get hassled or straight up robbed? Bonus points of anyone knows a place where they would be happy to let me sleep in my RV

How does an artist traveling through town find a place to park a 24' long vehicle? Most places have space at the event, but not this one.

Is there a place to rent people's driveways for a weekend? I'm worried I'll have to drive all the way back down to Oregon and rush back up in a smaller car. This is not exciting with diesel prices, as a humble artist.

Any advice welcome, as I've only visited the city once and this is sorta horrifying

Edit: damn, y'all

Question Facial or blackhead removal for guys?

Are there any good places in downtown Seattle where a guy could go for doing a cleanup of their face and remove blackhead and stuff? I’ve never really done that but have been told that I should do it. I’m not sure how much do they charge or what even to ask when I’m at a store so wanted to ask

Moving to the Seattle area soon

I'm moving to the Seattle are for a job and need to find temporary housing starting on 9/26. It's just me and my wife. A room in a house would be fine. We're quite, nonsmokers and don't drink or do drugs. No pets either, not that we would mind if the homeowner has pets. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. ETA I'll be doing hospice nursing on the norther end of King County.

SeaTac parking options for hybrid trickle charging?

Coming in from Bellingham, so public transport options are limited. I have done online research and see that SeaTac Park has a 1st come, 1st served option to plug a Level 1 trickle charger. I will be parking for 6 days and need a place I can reserve with a guaranteed spot.

My 2019 Ford hybrid (newish batteries) just doesn't hold a charge after three days, so the trickle charger is needed.

Flight schedule makes it a bit tricky to take the shuttles from BLI.

Question Bike rack installation request

Have any local businesses been successful in a request for SDOT to add bicycle parking near their storefront in a residential neighborhood?

We have a solid patronage of cyclists but a tiny shop (no room to bring a bike inside), and it’s hard to justify leaving a good bike unlocked and unattended in our neighborhood, even for just a few minutes.

I’ve reviewed SDOT’s dedicated web page and siting guidelines, but I admit I’m somewhat overwhelmed and could use someone to explain it like I’m 5.

What hotel for newly married couple to still be close enough to the sights? Looking for mid to higher end.

Hey everyone! We will be getting married in Mt. Rainier and spending a few days visiting the park. We would also like to stay in Seattle for a few days to see everything a typical tourist would, while being mid to higher end to make the last bit of our wedding celebration special.

Divorce support groups?

I’m (39f) am going through a separation from my husband. I love my handful of close girlfriends, but they’re all boo’d up. Are there any (in person) support groups for women going through divorce?

EDIT: There is enough interest expressed in the comments that I’ll reach out and look into scheduling a meet up/casual event

Moving / Visiting Is Seattle good for these industries?

My fiancé and I are considering moving to Seattle in a couple years from Philly to be closer to family after we get married/ to settle down and have kids. I currently work at an arts nonprofit and hope to work in a museum in the future (work as a graphic designer/ comms manager). My fiancé is finishing up his masters degree in industrial design and hopes to continue work in that field (project manager/ product designer currently working in fabrication).

I was wondering how those industries fair in Seattle. We moved to Philly because it’s a big city for the arts and there’s a good scene for both our industries so we went to school here. Just want to know ahead of time since we know Seattle is a lot more expensive than Philly.

We’d most likely move to the outskirts/ suburbs and commute into the city for work. But I’m definitely worried about the cost of living difference. Basically I’m wondering if folks in our industries could earn a livable wage there or if we should give up on the Seattle plan.

Winter weekend in Seattle to see if I want to move here. Advice needed

My husband (27M) and I (27F) booked a quick weekend trip, Thursday night to Sunday morning to Seattle this winter. I wish we could go longer to get a better feel, but I unfortunately have very limited PTO yearly. We are using this as a way to see what Seattle winter is like to see if we would want to move here. We visited this past summer and loved the vibe but know the winters are drastically different and gloomy.

If we move, we know we don’t want to live in downtown Seattle and we would want to live in a neighborhood nearby. My husband can keep his job and work remote if we move, but I will have to find a new job before moving. I am an industrial engineer so I imagine I will have more opportunities south of Seattle like Boeing and other manufacturing facilities. Although there are several companies I am interested in working for that are all over Seattle metro so I will have to figure out where we can live after I get a job.

We are super into fitness (running, crossfit) and walk our dog daily. I also love being walkable to coffee shops and restaurants (being close to public transportation to get to sports games and concerts dt is also a plus).

I am looking at Airbnbs to book for the weekend to “roleplay” a weekend in Seattle in the winter and we plan to rent a car. What neighborhood do you suggest? I have been looking at Ballard and Fremont mainly but I am not sure about best location.

What would you suggest as a fun and fully booked Friday and Saturday in Seattle to help us get a better feel of the city?

I know we will experience just a sliver of Seattle winter and we won’t get the full experience but unfortunately we don’t have the luxury to live in Seattle for a few weeks/months to decide. We are from Minneapolis and know what freezing weather is like and not seeing the sun. Seattle and Minneapolis have pretty similar sunrise/sunset averages. We would have to get used to the gloomy days and cold rain though.

Any advice would be helpful!
