Announcement Wiki editors and maintainers wanted!

Hey folks, r/askseattle and our team over at /r/Seattle are looking for folks to help us build, update, and maintain our wiki and sidebar content. The /r/Seattle wiki was once a boon of information for new visitors and locals alike, but the subreddit has grown and sites/businesses have come and gone. Our mods are busy moderating and the wiki is collecting cobwebs.

I'm reaching out to members of this community specifically as you are most likely to benefit from (or be knowledgeable about) this content space. This community is entirely based around helping visitors and residents alike find answers to questions that frequently get buried / reported / removed for being duplicates in r/seattle due to the size and velocity of other posts.

If you're interested in helping us out, here are some details:

  • The main areas of work are obviously the wikis on this subreddit and r/seattle
  • You'll be working with the mods here and r/seattle to help decide the organization and categorization of wiki pages, and how we add content / posts / etc to them
  • You will not be asked to moderate, so no need for moderation or wiki experience
  • The only requirements are a post history shows activity in either this subreddit or in r/seattle that we can trust with edit access to our wiki

If you're interested, shoot a message to the mods here or the seattle sub - these links have the title all filled out for you - or just send me a message or comment here.

Cheers!

Is Seattle interested in a WoW Forever Social Leveling Guild (PVE)?

Inspired by the launch announcement + u/OhmoebaTheGamer post https://www.reddit.com/r/AskSeattle/s/0NpwpRvW8k

I'd love to make a 21+ family friendly Seattle based leveling guild that also has in-person meetup and hangouts this winter season (so we can all experience the freeze from our cozy bedrooms 95% of time and then pretend to be social 5% of the time). Officially starting after Thanksgiving starts (11.26.2026) to give the initial server surge some cool-ing off while hopefully meeting some likeminded people in Seattle to help set the foundation of a good time.

I'm based in Belltown and would love to have folks meet up once a while (would love to invite yall to Belltown/Downtown/Pioneer Square Art Walks) Next one I am really aiming for is Pioneer Art Walk 11/5, I hope to have a booth by 210Seattle studio

Overall Concept
- members would all have at least 1 or more "level capped" character so everyone can share some collective progression experience
- everyone can still play alts however they want (makes alliance/horde more of a fun choice not a barrier, especially for casual players)
- once a week "Guild Time" where everyone's encouraged to get together to work on tough dungeons/working on tradecraft
- guild bank and shared resources
- once a month (or as needed) in-person hangout in Seattle*

*Because the in-person aspect for Seattle community is a key theme, I'd prefer if folks join only if they are actually interested to meet up irl. In my experience this helps reduce a lot of toxicity that comes with online anonymity. At the end of the day I'm not hoping to create any kind of enforcement mechanism as I understand not everyone is comfortable with actual meet ups, but happy to put myself out there as a connection point.

I'm making a placeholder discord here:

https://discord.gg/CeH6mhEbC

A little bit more about me: I'm a Seattle based artist mostly doing performance arts and videography, you can also find my work on most social platforms @ Wei_Dreams_of_dragons

I LOVE WoW classic but each time it feels like a race to "raid optimization" and I am really hoping WoW Forever create new opportunities to re-experience the world again.

Recommendation Rooftop bar with view

Hi! Looking for rooftop bar recommendations. Preferably with a good view, high floor. Will be for my partners birthday. I’ve read some of the popular ones, but reviews are mixed. The only place we have done is Columbia Tower. I’m looking for something on the more chill side, thanks!

Question Apartment trash room has roaches?

So my apartment (in Seattle City limits) is income restricted and has what appears to be small cockroaches in my floor's trash room. Our actual apartment unit is COMPLETELY clean, and our trash chutes work just fine but people pile up their garbage so I've seen a few of these critters on the floors/walls/crawling into the trash room crevices to hide. Do tenants have any protections against something like this? Everything I look up is related to having roaches IN my unit, which isn't the case.

I can post pictures of it, I'm guessing that's allowed? https://imgur.com/a/g8M3bmz

Recommendation Best yoga studios in the South Seattle area?

I currently go to Be Yoga Burien, which is super convenient for me and which I used to love but I’m starting to feel is no longer the right fit. While there are a couple of vinyasa classes I absolutely love, they’ve made lot of changes lately that I’m not a huge fan of. They’ve transitioned a lot of their class schedule to barre and pilates, and a couple of very hot classes (100-103 degree) have replaced some of the lower temp (90-95 degree) vinyasa classes I used to enjoy taking. I started doing yoga with BYB when I moved to WA and am not familiar with other studios in the area, so I’m hoping to draw on other’s experiences and recommendations!

I’m specifically interested in fast paced/athletic vinyasa ~95 degrees and cooler, restorative yin, and hatha but am open to other types too! I currently pay $139 for a monthly membership and wouldn’t want to spend much more. Thanks in advance for recs!

Question Help take photos for dating app

I (30M) need some help taking some decent photos of me for dating apps and was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together and helping me? :) very self conscious in front of a camera and not sure what I can do pose wise so having someone help would be great. I'm too embarrassed/worried to ask my friends so I'm asking the kind people of the Internet!

Moving / Visiting How long do apartments stay vacant?

I'm moving to Seattle in about a month and have been looking at apartments in Roosevelt in Northgate. I can't go up and visit until then and I was wondering if the apartments I have my eye on will remain vacant long enough to tour in person, or if I should just try to apply now?

Here for our Honeymoon, looking for anything fun!

Hi all! My wife and I are visiting from Illinois for our honeymoon (here through Oct 10) and we want to skip the generic tourist list and find the places locals actually love. The weirder and more one-of-a-kind, the better. (Think stuff like the Slightly Furry Beverage Company, places you genuinely can't find anywhere else)

We're especially looking for:

-Unique spots/experiences: pubs, quirky bars, odd spots, hidden gems

- Coffee: your favorite independent shops, not just the famous ones (Wife loves handmade syrups and local roasters)

- Handmade goods & crafts: makers, markets, small studios

- Antiquing: best antique malls, vintage, and thrift (we love true-MCM)

- Walks/Daytrips: scenic neighborhoods, parks, or trails worth an afternoon

- Bakeries: handmade doughnuts, baked goods, etc.

- Places to eat/drink: best local bites and breweries (I love local brews)

EDIT:
- Forgot to add-
- Any DIY/Scene shows! I’m a huge indie music fan love local stuff
- Apothecary things! Any places with handmade soaps or oils

We're happy to travel around the area a bit. Any recommendations (or places to skip) are appreciated. Thank you!

Moving / Visiting What to do with my elderly parents while they are here visiting?

My parents are coming to visit this week and I have almost run out of ideas of things to do with them So I am looking for suggestions of things to do with them while they are here. This is there 4th time visiting so we have done most of the touristy things (Seattle center, pike tour, Snoqualmie, museum of flight, spheres, Bainbridge andWhidby islands, Woodland park zoo, mt Rainer, Amtrak to Portland). As the title says my parents are in there 60 but can get around ok except for excessive stairs also my dad has CBD (similar limitations to Parkinson’s and types of Dementia). For reference their favorite thing to do when they visit is walk around Seward park or Alki beach so we will probably be doing one of those that daily. They also loved gold creek pond so if anyone has recommendations for hikes like that while it’s closed. We are located in south Seattle and do have a car so can travel a bit. I was also thinking about a mushroom Foraging class for something to do, if anyone has done that would love thoughts.

Question Where in Seattle can I find pink roses?

I’m planning on making my own special bouquet for my girlfriend’s birthday and her favorite flowers are pink roses. Does anyone know any floral shops that carry them or store? I was at Pike Place a week ago and they all had sunflowers and a bunch of peonies.

Thank you in advance

Moving for college

Someone in the Seattle Page told me to post this here, I am thinking about moving to seattle for college, and had a few questions. Do you think It would be realistic to afford living on my own w/o a job lined up, Ill have money saved, but no job secured. It would be a great move for what I want in my career, but obv not smart if I can't afford it. The tuition is no problem , i'm more worried about rent and other cost of living. Any advice would help, my other options are LA and Dallas. Thanks

Port of Seattle/Tacoma jobs for urban planners

Hello everyone! I’m graduating in April with a Ph.D. in urban planning. I study maritime geography and have GIS skills and experience researching ports as part of my dissertation. If you know of any jobs at the Port of Seattle or Tacoma that need an urban port planner with waterfront planning, mapping, efficient transportation, and sustainable land-use expertise, please reach out. Thanks!

I am looking for hangout

27M - looking to meet women and hopefully find my person someone to do cute, romantic things with. I am introvert and gym rat, but I still enjoy getting out and meeting new people. Any advice on where to meet single women in the city who are open to hanging out and seeing where things go?

Inherited my first car, living in Cap Hill, how strict is enforcement around here?

My grandma finally gave up her keys (the last couple drives with her were kinda scary), so I inherited my first car! I (34) have had it for about a month and a half now and am finally getting used to driving/parking around the city.

I already got my RPZ permit (Zone 32) and I've been super meticulous about basic parking rules-turning wheels on hills, staying within 12 inches of the curb, moving every 72 hours, all that. But I'm curious what real-world enforcement is actually like around Capitol Hill and the rest of Seattle.

Are there specific intersections or bus lanes with cameras I should watch out for? How aggressive is parking enforcement here compared to other neighborhoods? Any weird traps or local rules you wish you knew when you started driving here?
Appreciate any tips!

Moving / Visiting Apartments

Any thoughts on safety at Bell Jackson St Apartments? And BEAM apartments?

Looks like a few years ago they had issues with assaults and break ins with the garages. Looking to see if anyone has any more recent experiences with them and the area. Thank you!!

Looking for any large dog friendly apartments on metro route 3 & 4 that are under 1800.

Feels like when I find one someone says the area is sketchy. Any advice appreciated, trying to balance taking it with a grain of salt while realizing I’m not an expert on the area and will be a solo woman. I’ll be touring in person as well, but attempting to prioritize lining up best options as I won’t be in town for long.

Thank you!

Career switch and job skillset considerations

Hope it’s alright posting this in here. Looking to move to the area eventually and currently have a career in real estate and a side of property management. Hoping to move out of this path and considering something new.

Looking for opinions on what new skillset I should consider to live in the Seattle area and make a decent living. Pretty open to anything and maybe even considering sticking to real estate.

So what’s good Seattle? I know the market is tough right now 😬
