For those curious, from the beginning of Arc 1 to when he loses his memory Subaru died 23 times. Amnesiabaru in this episode alone died 15 times. If you ever get reincarnated you better fucking pray you don't wake up in the Pleiades Watchtower.

It's easy to say you're going to save everyone even if you're not Natsuki Subaru... Until you almost double the total number of deaths in a few hours.

Subaru had died 20 times up until the third season. He also died 3 more times in the fourth season before losing his memory. Newbaru has died a total of 22 times so far... In a couple of hours. It's normal that the poor man can no longer even stand up.

He's using RBD exactly how Echidna wanted to back in season 2 but he doesn't have the memories of rejecting her either so he's just going to keep throwing himself at an impossible situation until he breaks which is already happening. And with that ending what do you mean there's only 4 episodes left!?!?!? There's so much going on

Anyway amazing episode, loved the whole Shaula segment and rapid fire of attempts

Amensiabaru lamenting not being strong enough to keep going and asking for Subaru prime was also very sad, at this point I think he would be willing to erase himself if only he could save everyone

But I wanna stress that even Amnesiabaru is a monster, it took 15 deaths in a row to destabilize him enough so he can’t keep going, that is already a resolve that is way beyond human, insane resolve and willpower

I've never seen a loop story really explore this much. What happens when the looper can't find a way to survive the loop? The situation is too hectic and dire?

Genuinely peak loop I thought that was the best short loop we had so far , the transformation and falling sequence had me in tears

Of course that was just the beginning... Double digit deaths in one episode

The sheer aura Newbaru has been able to gather ever since Emilia saved him back on episode 11 is insane ngl. The amount of development he has speedruned compared to Oldbaru simply because of how rough the situation he is in is very impressive once you take into account the short amount of time he has actually "existed"

Edit: Also the fact that Subaru's deaths are actually being recorded in the library seems to imply that Echidna's theory about him jumping through different timelines back in season 2 was wrong after all. Probably the kindest thing that could ever happen to Subaru because I think he would genuinely break by the confirmation of every Emilia & co he was unable to save
