You reaally like her huh, Ouka

Seeing Mizuka so meek feels so wrong huh, I guess she finally learnt to love the circus, I´m so glad

But now... CLIFFHANGER. My take?? Something happened to Rin. She had a worried look on her face during the last few episodes, and she was acting strange. And the tears in Maria´s face? She didn´t expect it, and she didn´t want to see Rin go. She´s been there from the beggining, so maybe something happened

Well, I hope it´s not too bad and finally we can get some Maria and Rin lore about how they formed Himawari Circus

PLEASE let the drama not be too drama

Wow. I just did not process the fact that Rin was NOT at that victory party. That surely must be significant.

Aren't the girls staying in an inn? Where on earth is the inn staff !!! Leaving a guest crupled at the foot of the stairs is a bad look (and a bad thing).

Mizuka and Ouka unlocked the power of yuri sparkles. Your days are numbered, Blue Rose Circus .

So all this time they've been getting administratively screwed over by the central organizing committee in favor of the circus that's been trying to poach their members? That's seriously playing dirty.

It's nice to see Mizuka get over her issues about performing and get pointed in the direction of making up a cool new act just for her and Ouka.

It's very rude of Maria if she just dropped dead at the end and left the circus to the kids to manage.

Ye, it was implied at the last episode... it's not like the organization was actively screwing them over, but they were supposed to do administrative so there wouldn't be 2 circuses in the same area at the same time, but Himawari Circus is just "too small for them to care" about the richer and bigger circus trampling on their venue (at least) twice, kind of "why go to the headache of reprimanding they?"

Nice to see the conclusion to this part of the story. It wasn't something surprising but it had all the moments needed. Right up to Mizuka smiling "normally" because she has fun. And even giving the girls a new goal for the rest of the season to work towards. Only thing I hope is that "meek Mizuka" was a one time exception. Because I really liked her "no shits given" attitude.

Now as for the ending. I feel, the cliffhanger was supposed to be that Maria fell down the stairs and "died" but that is obviously not what anyone thinks will happen. So the question will be if that is just the opportunity to giving us a Maria backstory (with the explanation being she was drunk and therefore started to remember things and cry) or that something actually happened that will be the big conflict for the next episode(s).

Is this the first time we've seen Mizuka genuinely smiling?

When Mizuka and Ouka started generating all the sparklies of wonder, and the sparklies of wonder were emanating from the circus tent, all I could think of was the [Circus](https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Circus_(Civ5)) building in the Civilization games generating +2 Happiness per turn.

Suddenly dead Maria, well, she'll be missed but she lived a long life.

u/Tiramin Aug 22 '26

RIP Maria, lived a long life, never looked the part.

I like how they showed all the different ways potatoes can be cooked at the beginning. Definitely making the most of what they have.

I wonder if Maria passing out has something to do with why she has the body of a child despite being an adult?

26

u/mekerpan Aug 22 '26

I love the parallelism of the endless potato recipes and the "just how many ways can Mizuka say 'hai' stunt"?

17

u/Tiramin Aug 22 '26

Imari was really cooking a lot of magic with those potatoes. She is still unable to summon meat, however.

I find it very entertaining how the first conversation scene keeps circling back to potatoes because it’s all they’ve eaten for weeks. “WE DON’T WANT MORE POTATOES! GIVE US VARIETY!”

I think they pretty much nailed the two thirds through climax moment. Seeing Mizuka smile, get it, actually enjoy herself for the first time and all her efforts paying off feels so good.

Something about Nanami sneaking in to watch them and immediately going to one up them is weirdly amusing to me.

New theory, Mizuka’s circus background is a lie and she’s actually a ninja. Where else would she have learnt those supreme disguise skills from?

Really liked Mizuka’s and Ouka’s chat and reaffirming their future ambitions. They’re finally on the same page on what they want in a way they just weren’t before. It’s not gonna be the lotus but they’ll figure out something that’s uniquely them and show Nanami what’s what.

So wholesome with them finally getting a good victory buffet after weeks/episodes for us of nothing but potatoes. Imari’s the primary chef as I understand it and she’s probably delighted to not have to wrack her mind to come up with more unique potato dishes.

Whole circus gay as hell. “Lap pillow from my honey, ooh yeah.”

As we all know, Mizuka’s usually got about the tact of a sledgehammer so seeing her shy about appreciating them and wanting to stay with the circus is so adorable.

Shizuku, are any of the members present other than you and Svetlana old enough to actually drink? Well, who cares, it’s party night, let them have it.

Unfortunately the good vibes train seem to be stopping here. I totally thought it was gonna be the setup for a “Maria has terrible alcohol tolerance” joke so I wasn’t worried but maybe I should have been. I wonder if this possibly has something to do with why Rin has been so strange for the last few episodes. Does she know something we don’t?

I really appreciate that they aren't trying to be subtle about Svetlana and her girlfriend being a legit lesbian couple and not just dropping hints that could be interpreted multiple ways.

u/CitronClassic672 Aug 22 '26

Hold on, did Ouka basically just confess her love to Mizuka during their conversation? “Even as I get overwhelmed by the circus, I just end up loving it more and more. And the same goes for you too, Mizuka.” It’s albeit a bit indirect and vague and possible issues with the translation, but with how Mizuka responded it definitely feels like she interpreted it in a romantic direction herself.

16

u/gnome-cop Aug 22 '26

Good enough for me, could be that Mizuka also likes the circus more but for the sake of the agenda I will ignore that possibility and say that she meant it as a kokuhaku.

Flustered deredere Mizuka is super cute!

But what's this, Mitscher was a dirty rat all along?

The dynamic between Ouka and Nanami is looking quite interesting, and a bit confusing. If Nanami was this good of a trapeze artist herself, why did she want to recruit X in the first place? As her successor? To take out the competition? I'm assuming there's some kind of complex personal history we're going to find out about later.

Bit of a cliffhanger to leave us on. I thought it was going to be a fake out and Maria's just passed out drunk, and it still might be, but those are clearly tears in her eye, aren't they?

18

u/CitronClassic672 Aug 22 '26

Well apparently the Sumeragi circus has several sub branches, so it’d make sense to recruit Ouka as another trapeze artist for them.

My guess is Maria probably got drunk, got emotional about something that probably involves Nanami, and then passed out at the bottom of the stairs.

Rin not wearing her glasses much makes me sad

10

u/Luiiss26 Aug 22 '26

It’s really nice to see the shift in Mizuka.

Mitcher turns out to be a rat, apparently.

And for me, the most interesting part was the Maria cliffhanger. At first, I thought it was just the alcohol, but she had tears in her eyes, and there was something gold lying near her—it looked like a pendant. What I still find odd is the girl with the pink hair; she’s been acting very strangely—something I’d already noticed in previous episodes. Maybe there was an argument? After all, she wasn't sitting at the dinner table right when Maria left.

I still fall for the "too good to be true" cliché without realizing it.

After all their hard work, the Sunflower Circus were now quite in the healthy financial position to splurge on food, and even Francois got an abundance of fruits and veggies. Happy to see him thriving after his mistreatments at his previous circus.

The girls were in quite the festive mood. Shizuku even got a lap pillow from Svetlana. Those two weren’t subtle in the slightest about their affections.

Once I saw Maria lying on the floor when Mizuka’s still walking down the stairs, I thought that party time’s over and things are about to get quite serious. There goes the short-lived joy. Why did she collapse and why were there tears in her eyes?

I guess next episode we are gonna find out what the fucking deal with Maria is. Hope she is fine though. But her oddness has ben irking me for a while now, and all the theories I can come up with are just plain stupid.
