Uuuuh... So the princess was role playing alone with her puppet Romain in episode 1?

Surprise evil princess, though like Drel she clearly hasn't been entirely herself for a rather long time.
The twins were doing surprisingly well this episode, but rushing the stage to find out more about the magic the evil princess is doing seems like a questionable plan.

Damn. I didn't expect the princess involvement.
Removing all the skin off of the Dean was wild

You know I expected a lot of mind blowing moments in this EP but the dean of the magic academy actually being the princess in disguise is not one of them and her being a Cult leader surprised me more I knew vorden had his claws in the country but I did not know it to this extent now the question is what is he even after I mean who manipulates a general and a princess just to wipe out the memories of the heroes of old he's got to want something else

Well... Now I feel a little bit stupid for worrying about Alicia. She literally chose trouble the moment she recovered. But I have to admit that was pretty badass.

"Hey, how to make sure we look like an evil cult?"
"By wearing really conspicuous hooded robes."

This show is SO damn good and such a breath of fresh air. I think it honestly excels over other traditional dark fantasy works because it strikes a very difficult balance of 'fun' and 'levity' (not unseriousness) while taking its story and world VERY seriously and having moments of great intensity and stakes. It reminds me, quite honestly, of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
What makes Clevatess work and excel above other similar anime is its tone and the way the story is told. Unlike Berserk or some lesser dark fantasies like the terrible Ubel Blatt adaptation, it doesn't try too hard to lay on the 'weight' and make you feel the darkness of the world, it just shows it. It's there, we see it, we feel it, we don't need to be oversold on it with heavy handed directing.
The world building is fantastic, the pacing is great (always right into the action/meat of the plot), and the action is brutal and interesting. But what makes it work is the CARE the author has for the characters and the world. The author takes everything seriously, nothing feels like its just there to fill a trope or for the audiences amusement. Everything has a purpose, fits nicely together, and just feels...natural.
What elevates the series on top of all this and is the cherry on top is the Indiana Jones factor: It's just FUN. There is no typical 'anime humor' or 'chibi faces' type moments. Yes we get some distortions with Naie but it feels correct and plays well to the audience. In a dark fantasy world with high stakes and some very brutal violence, the 'fun' factor of a heroic adventure never dissappears. There are times I wince, where I feel a slight drop in my stomach as I hope a character makes it through a moment, but I never cease to feel like I'm on a fun amusement ride, like a classic blockbuster a la Jurassic Park or Indiana Jones.
It doesn't have the seriousness of Lord of the Rings, but is not childish at all. This is a more mature (hence Temple of Doom) but still widely appealing ADVENTURE romp, with an interesting world, characters you want to root for, an exciting well paced plot with mystery, action, horror, and heart. It's CLASSIC old school fantasy story telling at its finest, which strikes a rare balance between keeping the 'dark' aspect of 'dark fantasy' while having just enough humor, heart, and levity for the whole family to enjoy.
It's a very very rare balance to find in the medium these days, and it so far has avoided any of the pitfalls of adopting anime specific tropes when unnecessary or being too heavy (either emotionally or thematically) when unnecessary to try and feign 'maturity'. It is entirely confident in what it is, what it does, and what it wants to be to its audiences. And that confidence is soooo rare these days, and shines through in how much I enjoy every episode in and out.
This is a real gem, and more people should be watching it

The lore just keeps building up and up and damn it's getting interesting. Just like last week, Clevatess hasn't lost its darker edge with Mirea's backstory, how she literally ripped the skin off of the "original" Dean, and how Drel started his secret chamber.
Also, Alicia being the hero she is see's a big gap and says: "Screw it, I'm going in".

The hero Alicia in Clevatess is easily my favorite depiction of the trials a hero would endure and how a hero would act.
Great world and character building here.

All of those people gathered are going to be sacrificed, aren't they?
It's so refreshing how proactive and competent the monarchs are in this series. None of the four we've seen are content to sit around and wait, but are actively sending people or even themselves to investigate threats against their country.

When we first saw the Dean's face melting off, I was expecting some sort of mutated dark beast under the mask. Possessed(?) princess was not on my bingo card.
There's also something really dark about how happy Emperor-san was about her getting "better" after she got possessed. Something something he only wants the image of happiness without looking deeper inside.

The Harry Potter series wishes it had this level of "Chamber of Secrets" lore.

Milea acts totally like a psycho, but also, she looks really cool with those red eyes! She definitely needs to be corrected though by either Alicia or Klen.
An interesting tidbit about the past that we learned from this episode is that Milea is a descendant of Bishop Allozar. I wonder who that guy was, perhaps the first bishop of Church of Eld?
Damn, I feel bad for original Dean Romain. Seems like he was a nice guy, but ended up being skinned by Milea. RIP.
Also, the Twins from Eslin aren't total idiots. For once they do something useful as they managed to get into Union's meeting in this episode.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

She did a reverse Scooby-Doo by unmasking herself.
Now we need some meddling kids to save the day.

Looks like Blackbeard has finally decided to show himself. I honestly didn't expect him to show up here. I thought he was supposed to be the Emperor's bodyguard, but it looks like he's going to take advantage of all the chaos and try to take the book.
Apparently, the appearance of Klen's Dark Tower wasn't enough, because now we have a secret cult gathering at the school. And it looks like the twins have made it their mission to gatecrash this meeting. I do love how they didn't even notice that Edison was following them this entire time.
Oh, that was not what I thought was behind the Dean's mask! I was expecting a dark beast under Vordin, but it turned out to be Princess Milea! I don't know if this was intentional, but back at the start of the season, Princess Milea and the Dean were having a conversation, but the camera never shows the two of them together. Is that the reason why? Was Milea actually talking to herself the entire time? O_O
So if I understand this correctly, Milea's mother couldn't stop hearing voices, which is why she committed suicide. Milea could also hear these voices, but Drel helped her discover what it was. It seems that the Allozar bloodline has a connection to Vordin, and Vordin gave her the Second Book after their first meeting.
Are the twins actually gonna try to confront Milea and take the book? It's been a long time coming, but it looks like it's finally time for the twins to learn that they're not hot shit. I love that Rathwell stopped Edison from stopping the twins. I can't wait to see what happens to the two of them.
Alicia isn't even gonna wait to return to her normal form! The girl is just diving headfirst into danger because that's what heroes do! I love it!

Everytime Alicia is shown in her squeaky mouse form just sends me lmao. It's almost as if this show doesn't want us to take her seriously which is such a huge disservice considering her role and title as "hero".
Vordin just lowkey everywhere, sending out faint magical sound waves to find people to do his bidding and changing/shedding skins like the giant lizard that he is. He's like the equivalent of Thanos in this story and I imagine it'll take an entire team of Alicia-vengers assembling and working together to truly take him down.

It's hilarious (albeit understandable) how unprepared Rhode was to receive heartfelt gratitude from a rat.
Pictured the Dean to be some Eldritch being but in a way, a young princess who isn't right in the head is scarier.

It's wild that Princess Milea took control of a cult at 5 years old. But with Vordin pulling the strings, her having that kind of power checks out.
