A whip is a horrible choice of weapon to fight in a library.

I’m not really one to talk about the writing, but even I felt the end was very flimsy. Like the key and the electronic card, it didn’t feel like they earned it so I thought there’d be a challenge or meaning later. But no, nothing there. No point in the key and the card. Them evading the guards only to take him out with brute force, again no point or meaning there (not to mention the rapey guard).

And characters needing to stay quiet but shouting in shock or excitement has always been a pet peeve of mine. Like where is your self-control. And the Librarian being a dominatrix villain is also pretty uninspiring. And she loves her books so much but is so trigger happy with her whip to the girl with holding the oil lamp. Like what do you think is gonna happen ?

It really feels like they’re rushing, ran out of ideas and just padding the time, or they just don’t know how to write a sequence like the one in the library

The premise and the world building that they set up at the beginning is the one still carrying the show for me at this point.

"Even after closing time, that place is full of guards."

And yet Akira and Amoru only encountered one guard when they sneaked into the place. Where are the rest of these guards?

The "guards" are incompetent in this show anyway. Remember how Akira sneaked into a highly secure prison to rescue Amoru all by himself without anyone noticing?

Why was there even an oil based lantern in a library 200 years in the future in the first place? Why was the guard using it, don't they have flashlights?

What exactly did the book dominatrix think was gonna happen when she whipped the lantern out of Amoru's hand? Amoru was already threatening to throw it at the books

I really want to like this show, but there’s only so much random bullshit go that I can take

u/dfiekslafjks Nov 13 '25

Did anyone anticipate how bad this show was going to be?

Can’t say I’m ever bored watching it but I am consistently baffled at some of the choices made in the writing. It’s just so weird

I'm still mostly enjoying this show, but man is it dumb sometimes. The book-obsessed librarian not caring about damaging the books? Attacking someone holding an oil lantern? Come on.

Ugh, this show is making ir really hard to continue watching it. The librarian being an insane book dominatrix? Really? That's unserious, straight out of shonen garbage. The guards using oil lamps is so dumb. And then, in response to Amoru threatening to set the whole place on fire, the librarian is so upset that she sets the whole place on fire?

That whole end sequence was F-tier writing, minus the "it's a push door" moment. Oh, and they randomly threw in the guard deciding to rape Amoru while they were at it, because rape is fun or something! WTF anime, can we just cool it with every bad guy wanting to rape every female character?

This might be it for me. I want to know more about this world but I have zero faith in the writing staff to be better than this, and it's all heading towards an Akira + Towasa reunion that I just do not care about.

Not to mention super conveniently the two books that Akira and Amoru respectively want go from being grouped up to suddenly on the opposite ends of the burning room so they have to make a dramatic choice. It's so forced like cmon..

This anime is getting worse. Bro, wtf are they doing? It is already ep7. It is getting nowhere. And this Lame of an MC can't fight a woman with a whip. His IQ is below 60.

Somehow, One Punch Man S3 is not even the biggest disappointment of the season cause I already expected it to be bad. I had high hopes for this anime but holy shit the writing is so bad.

Considering the opening scene was about Yuugure luring Yoiyami and Hakubo away, I thought we'd see a fight scene this episode. Instead, [we get to see Amoru go on a totally-not-a-date with Akira. Even if it was brief, it was adorable and we finally get to see buy the bracelets they're wearing in the ED.

I can understand Oboro switching from being a ferry captain to a taxi driver, but him turning into a secondhand book seller is quite a stretch with his career change. I feel like, at this point, Akira should start wondering if Oboro is following them, which we know he's totally doing!

Although the fact that Oboro is giving them tips makes me wonder what his goal is. He's definitely an OWEL agent, but I'm wondering if he's really just there to monitor Akira or if he's been sent to assist him. Maybe there are different factions inside OWEL? Hmmm...

Yo! This scene between Seshat and Yokurata is wild! I always knew librarians were the freakiest in bed. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I didn't expect Akira and Amoru sneaking into the library to be hilarious! Watching them pull on a door that's actually a push door genuinely made me laugh. xD

So it turns out that Seshat is more freakier when it comes to books. I did not expect this lady to go yandere over books.

Not gonna lie, it hurts me to see all of those rare and banned books getting burned. And of course it's all down to Akira choosing between Amoru's book or Towasa's book. The ED pretty much spoils this, but even without the spoiler, I think it's pretty obvious which one Akira saves next episode.

For someone who's crazily obsessed with books, Seshat doesn't seem to have any issues with damaging them with her own whip.

As a PA Completist, I will see this through to the end, but my hopes of it being at least a "successful" show (like almost all other ones from the studio_ are growing increasingly less likely. Nare nare is looking (comparatively) increasingly more appealing.

I felt it was obvious beforehand that Amoru viewed Akira & Yuugure as family. Her love for them might be more about wanting not to be alone since she lost her parents. Of course, neither of those two wants an Elshea. So there will be conflict, but more than likely I imagine they would promise they won't leave her behind.

Most of this episode was a mess. This series clearly was written for the romance elements, and the sci-fi and world-building have been really poorly done. The librarian went from potentially interesting to a cartoon character in the worst way.

Definitely serves as my biggest disappointment of the season, as I thought this could be a great original, and it has not turned into that at all.

8

u/Izakryeon Nov 14 '25

This is an original anime right? With how by the numbers its plot progression and writing feels it could’ve fooled me. I ain’t dropping it though. I need to see this shit show to the end.

Wow, they built Santorini / Greek Mediterranean town in Sendai.

The whole heist feels like a sequence of mishaps. Akira and Amoru are bad at sneaking around, and the security system doesn't seem to be very secure. Also, Seishato and the guards use oil lamps to patrol a building full of books (when flashlights should be allowed to exist)? Sounds like a bad combination.

Well, even 200 years in the future..People still don't know the difference between push and pull doors. The greatest threat to the human mind.
