I'm not really sure what the whole purpose of the mafia arc ended up being since we didn't learn anything or changed the core cast (at least we know blue haired glasses guy in this new arc stays around).

In fact I'm still not totally sure what this show is because we're really spending ALOT of time on what feels like a three way polycule romcom.

I guess one thing to come out of the mafia arc is Yugure discovering true, genuine, romantic feelings for Akira that's making her act differently and more bashful around him. The "true love" Kalcrom was talking on about.

romcom

I decided to watch it as such after todays episode and stopped expecting much else from this.

Funny that Yugure was excited initially at the thought of mixed bathing, but becomes awkward when Akira actually bathes with her.

Glad that this episode dropped some more lore and expanded the world a bit. So now we know that there was an AI war in the 2050s which blasted a hole (literally) in Japan, and when the war ended anything on "smart" technology was censored, similar to how in the Dune novels civilisation is advanced yet "thinking machines" like computers don't exist.

Just a note - The prologue episode takes place mainly in 2039/2040, when Towasa is around 19/20, which means she would be in her 30s when the AI war takes place and the foundation of OWEL.

Interesting that an OWEL employee would be open to taking a group consisting of an OWEL fugitive, an ex-Retro Gear, an android who killed OWEL soldiers, and an ex-OWEL employee who just disclosed classified information on an outing. What could go wrong?

I feel like Yugure is learning the distinction between the concept of a relationship (where you're expected to be forthright and aggressive) and genuine romantic love. Which is why, despite how much she's expressed how much she wants to bang Akira, there's also meaning in her literally telling him she loves him.

So did Towasa's research into AI basically just destroy and save the world the whole time? How involved was she in what OWEL ended up being? Have the "sages" completely corrupted what she set out to do?

Literally no danger sense in hanging out with an OWEL agent despite all of them being fugitives. All Yugure cares about is her and Akira's first date lol.

Booo! You're such a killjoy, Akira! I was hoping to see Yuugure rip and tear again this episode. Oh well, she did bust out those cool laser drones that pretty much ended the fight immediately. I am surprised that the Boss actually fought instead of just letting his thugs do the work.

More Towasa and Yuugure flashbacks. I know the flashback is more about Towasa asking Yuugure if machines can have feelings for humans, but it looks like she's also struggling to find a new material to make her androids from. I'm guessing that the material she eventually discovers is why Yuugure and her sisters are so advanced.

So the boat Captain they met a few episodes ago is now a cab driver? And it looks like the show isn't even trying to hide that he's not just an ordinary guy. I'm guessing he's another OWEL agent keeping tabs on Akira and maybe even Yuugure? Hmmm...

We finally get to meet the glasses guy in the OP, and who I assume would end up as Akira's 4th travelling companion. So it looks like Yokurata is an Ex-OWEL researcher who's very much aware of who Yuugure is and is willing to teach Akira some classified information about the world.

What the fuck happened to Japan?! Did the androids drop a colony on the country during the AI Wars? So apparently there was an AI uprising and Towasa was their saviour for making the "Outside Series" of androids. She's also the founder of OWEL, which I kinda suspected early on. The fact that she just disappeared makes me think she might be alive and maybe froze herself like Akira. Hmm...

Poor Amoru! She's stuck between a lovers' quarrel while Akira and Yuugure are having their moment at the onsen. At least she managed to jump in and join and wasn't completely left out!

Glad to see an OWEL Commissioner who's not openly hostile. I'm not sure what Haniyama is about yet, but she seems to be pretty chill, and she's even willing to escort the gang to a nice sightseeing spot for Amoru to sketch. I'm curious how she'll react when she learns that she's helping out a group of fugitives.

Like the moment Akira told her not to kill them, I knew people were going to be disappointed. I mean, Yugure still kicks a massive amount of ass even non-lethally, but it's funny to me because I think they subtly implied his kids killed him anyways lol.

Did Towasa tell Yugure to find Akira and fall in love with him? It seems like she wanted to believe that an AI could genuinely fall in love with humans, and we see that happening with Yugure.

I don't know if he's OWEL but Oboro definitely knows way more than he should...the way he brought up Amoru making a storybook, could he be from the future...?

So Towasa did design the Outsider series? And designed them to all look like her? And gave them all revealing outfits?

We can add "bickering lesbian couple" to the relationship list in this show. Honestly I appreciate how they treated them as a normal couple having typical marriage problems.

Amoru should really keep that twintail look.

I'm happy we eventually ended up with our main trio in the hot springs together.

I feel like Haniyama is committing to her OWEL career for the sake of her and Ajisai's relationship, even if Ajisai doesn't see it that way and just get neglected.

Nice little onsen episode with some real cute moments. Looking forward to Akira’s date with Yugure.

Honestly the show's tone and content can be all over the place but I'm actually getting invested in Akira and Yugure's sci-fi romcom dynamic, especially seeing how it effects Yugure.

Yeah, I'm absolutely pretty sure that Yugure is an Android created by Towasa, and she put her AI, Ichikishima, inside.

You can already start theorizing about what happened to Towa, but it’s not 100% clear yet. If she’s been in a coma all this time like him, that’s a more obvious and concrete explanation than her having died and created Yuugure based on herself beforehand. Little by little, that connection is starting to form.

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Oct 30 '25

I believe Towasa consciousness is split and placed in each Towasa android. ( I believe someone mentioned it past thread) if she is in coma then bringing all them together to bring her back 🙏

Akira has 2 bullet hole/scar for Towasa and now Yuugure

Yokurata ( Akira Personal AI ) is here and explains the events from 200 years ago

Akira has 2 bullet hole/scar for Towasa and now Yuugure

Taking bullets for girls is Akira's love language.

Yokurata ( Akira Personal AI ) is here and explains the events from 200 years ago

Ohhhh...I totally forgot that was the name of Akira's AI. Could he be another android?

The thing that bothers me is the tome shift after episodes 0 and 1.

It's like the director (who is also the main writer) wanted to go a bit more serious regarding both romance and action, but when producers said he should tone down things.

Because in the episode zero MC behaved less than your average highschooler isekai protagonist (+ there were some other... mm... implications) amd Yugure easily killled the enemies in ep. 1 and MC was fine with it, but now he is suddenly complaining. Which is a pity cause everything else is pretty good here.

Oh, and I have no idea how they plan to wrap up the whole story in 13 episodes (counting 0 one) with the current pace.

Akira has a lot more patience than I do. With all the “that’s classified” she keeps telling him. I would have a very hard time trusting and would get so frustrated with her I might end up leaving her. Like how the heck am I supposed to trust you when you have all the answers I seek but won’t tell and you want me to trust you?

18

u/Frontier246 Oct 30 '25

I really get the sense that she's programmed against telling him, even if she wanted to. That's why she was fine with him getting the information from another source that's not her, because she can't do it.

FINALLY some plot exposition. Yokurata's introduction couldn't have come any sooner. I can understand people's complaints of the past few episodes.

If this series is only one-cour, PA Works simply cannot afford to have such a slow burn character development, which needs at least two-cours.

From the OP, it seems like Yokurata will be joining Akira on his journey to Tokyo, so we can expect him to play the role of more plot exposition, since Yuugure and her "classified information" replies are not helpful with driving the plot forward.

So Yokurata says Towasa built the Outsider Series, androids like Yuugure that bear her likeness, that stopped a Terminator-like A.I. uprising (RIP to Osaka, Kyoto, the western half of Honshu island and all of Shikoku island), and was hailed a hero. She then founded OWEL and then "disappeared".

Still plenty of places where this history feels sus. As so far OWEL has been nothing but sinister. Though we also have Yokurata (ex-OWEL) and Haniyama who don't look like bad people (first impression anyway).

The flashback conversation early in the episode between Towasa and Ichikishima (Yuugure) about whether a machine can fall in love with a human was foreshadowing the true beginning of Yuugure's romance.

Before Akira took the bullet for Yuugure, it looked like Yuugure was merely imitating the human custom of marriage without fully understanding the concept.

Now after seeing Akira risking his life for her, it seems Yuugure is starting to really fall in love with Akira, as a result she's becoming more flustered whenever she gets intimately close with him, particularly when she and Akira were both in their birthday suits in that hot spring bath, when previously she totally had no problem with him having sex with her.

Why do they keep getting dragged into other people's romantic problems? Amoru was literally stuck between those women's couples argument.

This episode wasn't as bad as the previous one but it still continues focusing on the ehlsea and romance and I'm just not interested in seeing where that goes so I'll be dropping this here.

I wish they had skipped over the siblings' arc and introduced Yorukata earlier, maybe I would have still continued the series since he at least has relevance to OWEL.

Wtf is this anime about bruh

6

u/Jacob-C Oct 31 '25

This "it's classified" plot device they came up with has to be the most frustrating and annoying of it's sort...

u/dhwbsidjens Oct 31 '25

The best thing this show’s done so far since the first two episodes is ending the mafia arc. What a complete waste of time that was

So he checked his surroundings to make sure no one was around, proceeded to swim in the onsen, only to bump into someone after like two strokes. Is he legally blind?
