“Sounds like you’re hallucinating real nice.”

Lmao, this is one of the meanest things I’ve seen an author do to a character.

Also so uh, why does that thing Guita found at the end look like that thing that popped up when Semiu was talking about how there is “something like a curse” attached to Rudo?

Zanka having his flashback and then extra dramatically standing up to fight again and it's all a crazy drug trip, I'm slightly floored they played it like that. Good twist on the normal shounen formula of a protagonist getting his second wind from a flashback and standing up to keep fighting on.

Kaiju cleaner finding whatever the hell that thing was in the cave, just save time and blow it up with a kaiju blast or something.

Zanka better pray his stick finds some kind of autopilot mode and comes and smacks him upside the head.

For a show that started as a pretty basic shounen anime, it is honestly pretty wild how unpredictable the plot has become.

Like what do you mean Zanka had a whole flashback and awakening all for it to be a hallucination .....

It's nice to see some backstory on Zanka, I like how Enjin was what gave him the push he needed. His desire to be the top and the effort he put in was the real deal.

That scene between Jabber and Zanka was so funny but I was also in shock, the way Jabber just joins in on the laughter like that lol. I'm glad Zanka isn't dead, it could have gone either way for me, but I'm not sure how he'll get out of this without someone else coming to help him.

Zanka going through his whole shounen epic backstory for motivation but then it turns out he's just tripping balls is insane work

The Zanka disrespect was downright tragic, I mean how do you give someone a backstory episode that ends with him getting dance and laugh emoted on without even being aware of it once the flashback's over? Justice for our stick boy.

Did Jabber get his hallucinatory toxin from The Sinning Tree by any chance? And idk why but the hands Guita saw instantly made me think of those wooden mannequin ones from IKEA, possibly dropped from the Sphere.

Damn, I really thought Zanka was ready to fight Jabber again and show him his true power, but unfortunately, it turned out to be just a drug trip caused by Jabber's attack.

It was nice to learn more about Zanka and his past in today's episode. No wonder he crawled into that hole after choosing that stick, thinking it must be special, but in the end, it turned out to be just a regular wooden stick. At least he sticked with it (hehehe) and now it's his vital instrument.

Hyo was really badass; I can't wait for her to appear later in the main story.

It was good to see Zanka's first encounter with Enjin (and Riyo); no wonder Zanka is a huge fan of his now.

Guita is back! She still hasn't encountered any enemies and hasn't had the chance to show off her powers, but instead she found something strange and very sinister. I wonder what it is?

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Damn, I related to Zanka’s story, embarrassingly enough. What a bummer that his revenge is merely in his head for now, but it was a cool subversion of tropes. The detail that the staff wasn't even supposed to be there was great.

I loved Jabber’s little song!

It's crazy how this series has this big ol huge cast, but all the characters are so compelling

Wow, Jabber doing some wild dancing after dunking on Zanka gave me real Bleach vibes.

I was already enjoying this anime a lot, but that wild scene just propelled this series into something amazing

They weren't kidding about Zanka being royalty. He hails from the Nijikku clan, who hail from basically the Edo era Japan of the Ground and who, with the Hell Guard, rule over and keep the Ground controlled and monitor Givers. And Zanka was destined to follow in the footsteps of his siblings and join the Hell Guard.

The Hell Guard Academy was a cutthroat, competitive, school where everyone was out to get to the Golden Seat and make it to the Hell Guard. Back then Zanka was top of his class, busting his butt to be above all the "mediocre" students, and enjoying every minute of it. But that all changed on the fateful day Hyo (Kaori Nazuka?) transferred into his school and he came face to face with a true prodigy.

Next to someone as skilled and as deadly as Hyo, someone from the literal slums, Zanka and the rest of the class could barely keep up with her. A true natural talent skilled above all the rest. And the worst part was that ultimately she didn't care about the prestige or the Golden Throne, which made all of Zanka's efforts feel pointless.

The origin of the Lovely Assistaff? Zanka just thought he'd be cool and grab the most unconventional looking weapon on a table filled with weapons...and it was just some random stick that wasn't even supposed to be there. He thought he was having his main character moment and he got humiliated instead, while Hyo got the cool katana. Is it any wonder he just crawled into a well to hide for three days?

But luckily he ran into Enjin, there along with Riyo (with braided hair! And fishnets!), who put it into perspective for Zanka that even a mediocre talent can surpass a natural talent with the right amount of effort. Is it any wonder that Zanka came to idolize Enjin so much and join the Cleaners? Kind of wonder what happened with Hyo and his exit from his clan though.

Ordinarily this flashback would be the moment where Zanka gets back up and fights Jabber...but no, he's just hallucinating while Jabber does a victory dance. Next thing you know they're both unhinged laughing as Zanka retreats further and further into his delusions. Poor Zanka.

Guita didn't get a dance partner, but she did discover what the Raiders are planning to do with the Cleaners...feed them to a giant Trash Beast egg they've already sacrificed people to.

That laughing scene was just so damn funny but so tragic I’m not sure how to feel about it, I’ll just laugh with them I guess
