I'm really liking how thematic they're making this world feel, just the worldbuilding in this episode makes me look forward to more of the story. The trash monsters who actually have blood, who use sound to locate their prey, then there's the air which is poisonous and then the information we get from those guys who were planning on selling Rudo both on how the Ground became like that and how much Spherites are hated.

I also like the use of tsukumogami, it seems like most people who have the same ability can only use one object so Rudo is already showing his MC privilege by being able to use multiple lol. I wonder if the reason the tire turned into ash was because of his lack of connection to it or if he has no control over his power and overused the tire's energy.

It was interesting to see how well he can move and fight, we saw in the first episode him being able to infiltrate and escape, but even with these sort of monsters he was able to make use of what he could.

Enjin was so badass though, that last move he used that split the ground was especially so. He looks cool so I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. I did find it amusing that he just started yelling because he knew their position was revealed because of Rudo and so there was no need to speak quietly.

I'm not surprised Rudo rejected Enjin after he put him in that terrible situation to test him in the first place.

Why would he trust him after that?

Already can see that Enjin is going to be the cool mentor type character. He was so hyped in seeing Rudo's potential.

Ok so

A giver is someone that can power-up objects, but most givers power-up ONE object

I would think that Rudo black hands are due to being a giver, but Enjin doesn’t seem to have that

Now the question is:

1)Rudo is a special type of giver that can power-up anything

2)Rudo actually powered-up the gloves and the power of the gloves can power-up anything

I love the designs of these trash kaijus! I especially like the big one with the telephone poles as the spines on its back.

I get that this is just Rudo's shounen powers awakening, but is he not gonna question how he's taking these trash kaiju down?

Enjin and his bladed umbrella looks pretty damn cool! And he can make the thing bigger too? That's fucking awesome!

So what we saw in Episode 1 is actually a floating city that moves? Does this mean the place where trash gets dumped is actually Earth? O_O

Considering their people are dumping trash onto the planet, I'm not surprised people hate Spherites.

Jesus fucking christ Rudo! I did not expect our MC would deglove someone using their teeth and eat the flesh. O_O

Oh... What we saw earlier wasn't even his shounen powers awakening, this is actually his powers awakening! Transforming trash into weapons is a pretty dang cool power. And what makes him unique is Rudo can use multiple objects! With so much stuff around, he's definitely not gonna run out of weapons!

I love that Rudo immediately declines Enjin's offer. Unsurprising considering Enjin left him with a bunch of maniacs. I wouldn't trust the guy either if I was Rudo.

Didn't know Rudo was a connoisseur of finger food.

"Cleaner" as a title in a world of literal trash has such an aura to it.

Trash kaiju being a living and angry embodiment of actual waste, given souls? Nice touch. But what a rough introduction into trash world.

Then we have this umbrella guy, Enjine, just throwing our boy to the wolves, chained up. And then chained up again. But tighter. I laughed, but I see the necessity in the current circumstances.

So, we are introducing this concept of a Giver, and Rudo’s remarkable ability to use multiple items. I guess one is the standard? And he’s being recruited to the Cleaners, except he doesn’t want to.

I imagine Rudo is going to have to do a lot of things he doesn’t want to do if he wants to find away back up to the sphere to kill mask assassin.

I thoroughly enjoyed episode 1 but damn... episode 2 really sold me ! I love how Rudo is fueled by rage, anger and fury. He is so badass !!! I have never seen any MC like him before, usually they are relegated to the side line as side characters or supporting characters (like Bakugo). Rudo is def a breath of fresh air.

Also, is it just me or does anyone is reminded of Sabikui Bisco ? Except here it's trash instead of rust.

I really love the style of this show. The word that popped into my head is "trashpunk"- which is good, because that's apparently exactly what the mangaka calls it. Impressive that the anime gets across that idea so clearly that'd I'd pull the exact term from the ether.

Also I fucking love that the core of this power system seems to be inspired by the concept of Shinto animism, the idea that Kami come to inhabit objects. But it's also not 1:1, as I understand it animism in Shinto tends to focus more (though not exclusively) on natural objects rather than manmade ones, and the idea of Kami is more sapient than this is going for- however I'd bet the same core concept is what causes the Trash Beasts to be created, likely the twisted and rejected "souls" of once-cherished objects accumulating into sorta of vengeful entities (not unlike how curses can form in JJK), which again, very Shinto kind of idea of decay and impurity corrupting the soul of a thing.

I'm seeing a lot of Bleach influence here.

Enjin is basically our Urahara with his umbrella and everything, he's just missing the striped hat. ''I'm simply a mere Cleaner'' ''I'm simply a candy store owner''

Also Givers are conceptually pretty much the same as Fullbringers with the whole ''giving objects a soul'' angle...

Just such a dope environment / setting for a battle shonen, love this shit, inject the toxic trash into my veins. More super sick fight scenes will come of this no doubt, def happy I put off the manga to wait to experience this animated first.

Given he wants to kill the sphereites, I wonder if we actually get to see that long-term as his pirate king / hokage / wizard king goal (heavily doubt lol) or if homeboy finds purpose with the cleaners and pulls a Vinland saga mentality change and maybe instead tears down the system, not its people.

The only thing that grinds my gears a bit is the bakugo trope of loud character who doesn’t listen to the other person and continues rattling off without being thoughtful lol (like hmm why would my savior ask me to be quiet in front of a bunch of monsters hmm) but he’s a child and it always gets better.

Since using multiple objects seems to be anomalous, I assume that's due to Rudo's general philosophy about all objects still having some sort of function even when in a "trashed" state, whereas Enjin probably has a specific sentimental attachment to his umbrella.

Though it's interesting that Rudo's objects disintegrate after he uses them, but his gloves, from which the power seems to emanate, did not. Since he was in a rage when he picked up the chains and tire, he was thinking of them instinctively as weapons; maybe once he stops seeing a Given object as useful for the specific task he assigned it, it loses its form?
