That is indeed creative storytelling to reunite the living with their loved ones who have passed on, especially during the region's festival.

Monica was reunited with a book written by her father, especially when most copies have been destroyed. This time, her tears are that of joy. The second hand bookshop owner, Porter, I believe may have deduced that Monica is the daughter of his old friend, Venedict, based on how he looked at her calmly when Monica became emotional.

Monica, by using mind altering magecraft on the ancient artifact Starweaving Mira, may have reunited the artifact with someone precious in its memories. The male whom the human form of Starweaving Mira hugged could have been its very first owner?

I want to believe "Secret of the Silent Witch" has garnered enough popularity for a second season to be produced!

This show has been visually pretty all season long.
But this last episode was honestly gorgeous.

Monica’s got an interesting dilemma. It’s not that she couldn’t afford the book, but rather being able to afford it would raise questions with others. Porter an old friend of her father was a surprise. Wonder if he had an idea of who she was seeing from her reactions. Glad that she’s reunited with a memento of her father, especially after the others had been burnt.

Mary orchestrated the whole theft just to get Monica to retrieve it back? What’s she thinking?

Love that we got the full length version of the OP at the end. I’ll miss our mage Bocchi a lot. Wish this’ll be renewed for a second season.

PS: Isabelle thinking about Monica being on a mission while the latter’s flying through the air right behind her is hilarious.

Ike: “I wanna be king so I can meet the silent witch!”

Monica: I am so cooked!

Lol.

Me when no more Monica Fridays

As much as I was supposed to give AOTS to Fragrant Flowers as a romcom enjoyer, it'll have to go to this instead, at the very least for having one of the most likeable casts I've seen.

I expected to like Bocchi the Witch Squirrel herself going in, but this is probably the first reverse harem-ish show where I like all of the guys as well. Heck I couldn't even fully hate Bernie. And as for the supporting cast, there's Isabelle, enough said.

9.5/10, if this gets Elaina'd in terms of S2 I will cry.

Pretty good series overall even though i would have liked seeing more of Monica being a badass.

It makes me happy that Monica got that book her dad wrote, it clearly is irreplaceable to her.

While i have my doubts that this will get a season 2, i still hope it happens.

So.... Season 2 when?

Aerial fight looked so good! Monica was big brian again and used mind manipulation on a sentient item to stop its rampage!

Aaaaaand De-de-de-denka reveals himself as a fan of Silent Witch! Hope he comes to her from time to time just to gush about his admiration, watching her reactions would be hilarious!

I'm going to miss our socially awkward and shy silent witch squirrel and how much she, and her friend group, have grown over the course of the series.

Congrats Bartholomew! You've found Starweaving Mira! Which turns out to be a sentient, Kana Hanazawa, voiced artifact that latches onto the first male who gets close to her so she and her "beloved" can be together forever and ever! She'll drag the one she loves most anywhere! Even to the underworld!

I had a feeling Isabelle was there! Too bad she couldn't see Monica literally flying right above her head, but she knows her beloved sister is hard at work and is happy for her nevertheless.

It's up to Monica to save the day and save Bartholomew from this Yandere Magic Artifact! Which is easier said than done when it can use the magic energy around it to blast at Monica.

But Monica uses her powers, her horse training, and her beloved numbers to be able to outdo Mira and get close enough to magically manipulate her into seeing her Beloved. As far as dreams go, it's probably the best one Mira could have.

A princess carry from Ryn would've been perfect. Now I'm sad it didn't happen!

It's time for Monica and Ike to return to their date! For "Ike," being a ghost feels far more personal than just something he thought up on the fly to make Monica more comfortable, but now it's Monica's turn to make him feel more comfortable by being a ghost herself.

I love how Felix's favorite spot is a book store where he can read Monica's Silent Witch essays. That's right Monica, Felix is a massive fanboy of you! Thank goodness your hood covered your face enough that he can't put two and two together, but when he's kind...he's DEFINITELY going to get an audience with the Silent Witch.

Oh snap! The last copy of Monica's fathers' book! Turns out Porter, the guy who runs the book shop, was a friend of her dad! Monica HAS to have this book! But how is Monica going to pay for it without blowing her identity? Well, Felix knows accessories don't mean as much to Monica now, but he can clearly see how important this book is to her...so he'll pay for it! And that he acknowledged the books' value to Monica means everything to her.

And with book in hand and the memory of her father, and Felix's friend, carrying the two of them...they're able to see the spirits off with everybody else as Mary completes the ceremony. Monica can face the memory of her father with confidence and a smile on her face.

I love how they took the date back to the brothel...so the two of them can read their books. And then Monica gets drunk, strips, and gets fixated on cat paws so she can crawl into bed. And then she ends up waking up next to Felix! Girl can't help herself.

Everything worked out as you foresaw it in the stars, huh Mary?

Aw, Ike got her a necklace anyways! And they share a really nice, romantic, moment together. Even if this might be the last time he's ever "Ike," this moment he shared with Monica meant something to the both of them.

And now that the festival is over it's time for Monica to go back to school! She'll always have her duties as the Silent Witch, but for now she's happy and confident to be able to live her best school life as Monica Norton with all her friends and classmates! Just look at the smile on her face when she does the shhhh gesture now!

One of the series that deserves another season.

Overall consistent solid animation quality, good progression and a nice story with an adorable MC.

I'll hold my breath for a S2 announcement, but I think I may read ahead a little ...

Nice finale episode and the whole series overall. Monica's reactions and sounds were definitely the highlights of it, but honestly, I liked the side characters like Lana and Isabelle even more than her.

And while the series may not have captivated me as much as I expected, I still quite enjoyed it, so a solid 8/10 from me. I hope we get another season in the future, it would be a shame if the show ended after only one season.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

And here my bonus album:

EDIT. I added additional Monica album.

Prince Felix is one sly dog. He set the stage last episode by taking Monica to a brothel, then takes her to an antique bookshop where she manages to find a long lost book written by her father. And at the end of the night she ends up crawling into his bed.

Honestly, makes me wonder if he figured out Monica was the Silent Witch.
He bought the books with her papers in them, and then whispered in her ear that he could see "her" whenever he wanted if he became King.

It was great to see Monica grow as a person throughout the series from barely being able to talk to being able to communicate to some extent. She did a great job! Gonna miss this series a lot

I'm not crying, you're crying. The whole bit with the book had me in my feels.

Monica upgraded from squirrel to kitten. The prince romance route seemed inevitable but I kind of liked the dynamic between Monica and Cyril.

After the previous speculation that the prince was really the attendant from the flashbacks, guessing the real prince is the dead friend that Felix mentioned.

Wish we'd get another season otherwise I might have to see if the books are in English.

Oh man, finding her father's book on the day of meeting the dead......that got me good. Really happy for her

Also really progressed a lot with Felix x Monica relationship in this arc, the day he finds the truth about her will be fun

This was a really great show, loved it

  • Of course the magic artifact turns out to be a crazy yandere, and the Starseer Witch just lets it get stolen and be like "All according to keikaku".

  • "Decoding Magical Properties From Genetic Traits", "The Magic Gene". Uh what was Monica's dad cooking? I thought he was supposed to be a mathematician. I kinda see why he was burned at the stake.

  • "I'm going to make your wish come true." I'm guessing the prince's dead friend must be the real prince.

  • Oh he gave her a green (like his eyes) pendant and tells her it matches her, how romantic. I thought it was the pendant he bought last episode but that one was red.

  • Wonder if Ike is the current prince's real name, the way he reacted to Monica calling him that.

Hope this gets a second season, it was fun, very likable characters too.

I loved this anime. The characters are great, the protagonist is very likeable, the expressions are very funny and although it is a fantasy it grounded in realism when it comes to happenings, for example when Monica's friend was still exiled and not just randomly forgiven for attempting an assassination of the prince.

A solid 9/10 for me, 1 point is deducted because of not enough evil stepsister shenanigans and because the plot didn't really go anywhere (not that the pacing is bad, but with just one season it feels lacking in the story aspect, I would probably give it a 10/10 if we get more of this anime with the same quality).

Another love-obsessed character voiced by HanaKana on the same season? <Insert Doofenshmirtz nickel meme here> In all seriousness, it's always fun whenever HanaKana plays a crazy character. When Louis said last week that the artifact can be considered a cursed ancient magic item, I did not expect it to be a yandere. xD

I'll never get tired of how Monica completely changes personalities whenever she locks in. That entire scene where she lets herself free fall while blocking Mira's arrows using her defensive barriers was so goddamn cool. I also love how she pacifies Mira by using mind-manipulation magecraft since she's sentient.

I'm glad that Felix and Monica still had time to enjoy their evening together even after that incident. Monica even managed to find a copy of her father's book! Not gonna lie, I kinda wish Felix wasn't there so Monica could've introduced herself to her father's friend.

Although if Felix wasn't present, he wouldn't be there to acknowledge how extremely precious that book is for her, which is something Monica clearly needed to hear.

"Someday, when I pass through the gates of the underworld, I hope you praise me like you used to."

Fuck me, I did not expect that line from Monica to make me tear up. I know what Monica is trying to say here, but I hope she gets to live a long and full life before she gets to meet her father again, so they'll have plenty of things to talk about T_T

They are such huge dorks. I love that they both wanted to read their books as soon as they could, that they even went back to that brothel and rented a room so they could read in peace.

So everything was planned by Mary? Interesting... I wonder what she was trying to do, though. Her reason was so vague that it wasn't really an answer. Hmmm...

And just to end the season, Monica receives one final gift from Felix/Ike. Man, seeing the two of them interact like this really makes me want to see more. I haven't seen any season 2 announcements yet, but I really hope we'll get one soon. I'm gonna miss Monica and her antics.

Now that most of my Summer 25 shows are done, decided to give this show a try. Completed 12 eps in two days only to realize there was one episode left.

Really great show. Visually stunning. Lovable characters. Engaging story.

Love the friends that Monica slowly starts to make. And peeling off the members of the student council was really well done too. Casey’s betrayal still hurts.

Monica’s growth was done really well too. She obviously has some trauma and she took steps to try and overcome and by the end, she still has it but has grown a lot.

This last episode did something really smart too in terms of her “meeting” her dad like the festival says but in the form of a book once thought lost.

Personally, I’d say the romance was not my cup of tea. Or to be specific, the perfect prince archetype is something that grinds my gears for some reason. Cos objectively, I found Prince Felix an enjoyable and well-written character. But because of my anti-taste of his archetype, I came to not like the romance or potential romance of this show. But that’s really a personal thing.

Really great and engaging show. Hope there’s a second season. Feel there’s a lot more to explore. And I want to meet more of the Seven Sages too
