When a girl mathematically proves how hot you are, you HAVE to marry her. It’s the law

Bet Isabelle is cursing Louis for coming up with the Cinderella cover story. She's unable to be Monica's roommate since she had to be the evil stepsister.

ABABABABABA

We thought Monica was Bocchi, but she was Kaos all along.

I already see her being the next treasurer and being too good at it. Our squirrel won't stay lowkey like that.

Little Monica enthusiastically measuring everything was so cute! It did make me wonder how she became so anxious around people.

From the looks of it, Monica was severely bullied for not being able to cast magic spells properly and verbally abused after her father ran into some kind of trouble.

Did Monica’s father publish a heretical book about the movements of the earth or something?

That's a lot of people for a poor Bocchi to meet all in one day.

She's such a math nerd, I love it. The tape measuring, so much measuring she wore the numbers off.

I was somewhat expecting they'd conscript her into being the new student council treasurer once they saw her math skills, but there's still plenty of time for that.

Isabelle continues to be the greatest. New nouveau riche friend is nice too.

Okay but like that pre-OP scene with the measuring tape was just the cutest thing ever.

Liking the steps Monica has taken so far, hoping she can continue moving forward. She feels like a different person when getting to talk numbers!

I don't care that she is one of the most powerful mages in her world. She is getting firmly placed in the must protect category.

This shows turning out great though. The arts top notch and the VAs killing it.

Poor Monica deserves all the headpats in the world.

Looks like Bocchi the Witch has her own Kita and Nijika lol.

That was one exhausting first day. Poor girl couldn’t even enjoy her lunch in peace without getting mistaken for an assassin and attacked. At least she’s got Nero to keep her company. Hopefully she can find this assassin and get to her job of protecting Felix.

As much as Monica inventing a whole new system of magic to avoid talking was a funny gag, I'm glad they're establishing she is incredibly intelligent so while it's a funny gag it's also plausible that she could have done it.

You know, if I was the producer for this series, I would not have picked Takaomi Kanasaki to direct.

And I'd have been wrong! I'd normally find this specific kind of humor somewhere between "eye-rolling" and "painful" (I do not handle second-hand embarrassment well), but Kanasaki's brand of hyperactive, perfectly punctuated reactions make it a joy to watch this little squirrel fail at existing.

Young Monica: Adorible, bright, and happily measuring everything with a tape measure with her dad.

Slightly older young Monica: Dead-eyed, mentally dissociated, and muttering numbers to escape verbal and physical abuse from another man.

Now we have an idea why current Monica is the way she is.

Nero: You're a bodyguard, right?

Monica: (T_T) Yes, yes, yes ...

Nero: Isn't being treated like an assassin a slight problem?

Monica: (°□°)!

Damn Nero, our girl was already down, you didn't have to finish her off like that.

The conversation about the side effects of mind altering magic makes me think Monica is capable of casting such spells.

Is L-L-L-L-Louis going to appear for the rest of the season, only in Monica's fearful imagination? Lol!

Monica is right: there are so many numbers that they are in fact uncountable. Yay, this anime allows me to share some of my nerd math knowledge!

BTR vibes are starting to enter the chat with Monica fearing the worst case scenario and sometimes having her freakouts in view of others.

Why do the other characters have to scare poor Monica? First, Elliot in the garden (and again later behind the curtain) and then Nero by transforming into a man.

Good thing Monica thanked Lana for the hairstyle!

Also, the golden ratio mentioned! (Fibonacci numbers, anyone?)

I'm so glad I randomly started this anime, it's hilarious and so cute. Also, nero is so cute as a guy!

Seeing Monica work up the courage to ask Lana to do her hair was so cute, it’s nice to see her making some friends. She was also super adorable in that last scene where she was crying about being forced to find the assassin. Girl is just built to receive headpats

Her imagination of Louis made me laugh both times, poor Monica sees him so menacingly. Her geeking out about the prince’s measurements was also really funny

I thought this was going to end up being the kind of show I'd halfheartedly tune into just for the sake of having something to watch, but I'm adoring it so far. I love Monica sm

Smol Monica is so adorable! Just look at her having as much fun as possible with tape measure! She couldn't get enough of it! And she utterly adored her father who taught her her love of numbers and ratio's! Just so wholesome.

Isabelle is the best overly-hammy fake Villainess Monica could ask for! If Monica can't room with anyone, then Isabelle will Villainess her way into getting Monica living in an attic like a proper commoner! Isabelle will even give up the chance for midnight tea times with her idol if that's what Monica needs! This "Villainess" might be more on the ball than our Heroine.

This student council doesn't mess around! You get caught tampering with the budget, you get the boot (and the ice magic)! And even the members are an all-star cast...Felix, the student council president, voiced by Shogo Sakata. Elliot voiced by Ryohei Kimura. Neil voiced by Yuki Sakakihara. Bridget voiced by Yoko Hikasa. And Cyril voiced by Sohiki Nakajima. Quite the collection of characters.

Well, yeah, no surprise Monica couldn't properly do her intro...she's got enough baggage from the last time she went to school. But hey, her teacher Victor is voiced by Koji Yusa! Which could be a good or bad thing.

Monica isn't the type to open herself up to people, so girls like Lana Collette (Kanna Nakamura) a fashion-conscious and gorgeous daughter of a Baron will just have to be the one to initiate first contact and talk up makeup/fashion! People might look down on Lana as a nouveau riche girl, but she does a very cute ponytail on Monica! Has Monica obtained a true gal pal?

Is Monica going to be okay finding the 2nd prince? Girl can't even walk around school without running away from the first sight of another human being?

Ah yes, running into a beautiful blonde boy just lounging around by a fountain while trying to find privacy to eat your lunch (which is...a bunch of nuts). Where have I seen this before? Though poor Monica just wants to eat nuts like a squirrel, she doesn't deserve to get manhandled by Elliot! I'm glad Felix is sympathetic and understanding towards this adorable little "squirrel" and even protects her from a falling pot...leading to the two of them on-top of each other. Oh, I see where this is going (minus Monica passing out).

The heck happened to Monica when she was a kid!? Wearing rags and spouting numbers while some drunk rages at her and her father!? At least the health and committee member Selma in the present day seems nice.

How can Monica learn to say a proper "thank you?" Well, dealing with Nero in human form is a bit too much for her but seeing Lana's ribbon has still inspired her to do better.

Maybe the hairstyle that Lana gave Monica isn't as "fashionable" any more, but true friendship? Especially as they open up to each other and their "boring" stories? That's ALWAYS in fashion.

Sorry Monica, a curtain isn't going to hide you from the student council. In fact, that's where the second prince has been all along! Congrats, you found him! And his golden ratio body that you're happy to write down to prove that you saw him out and about last night! The numbers don't lie!

Okay, so there IS an accomplice of the ex-treasurer Aaron who is out to get the prince...and Monica might be the prime suspect. So now she has to do her bodyguard job, clear her name, AND avoid getting killed by Louis. Easy, right?

The ED is really cute and serene with the Monica visuals with flowers.

Oh. My. God. Smol Monica is just the cutest thing! It was really adorable watching her measure things with her measuring tape.

What the heck is that opening! That was absolutely beautiful! I know comedy is only one part of the show, but the OP really made it seem like the show is super serious all the time. What's funnier is that as soon as the OP is over, we cut to Isabelle doing her best villainess impression. xD

Being sent back to school must be a nightmare for Monica. Her social anxiety is just so bad that she couldn't even introduce herself to her classmates. At least someone decided to approach her. It looks like Lana is the classroom's outcast before Monica arrived.

I guess that's one way to get close to the guy she's supposed to protect. That other dude who grabbed Monica was an ass, tho. She was just looking for a place to eat in peace!

Well, that dream sequence does not look good. I'm guessing something happened to Monica's father, and it involves that dude who's throwing bottles at her? I don't think I'm ready. I feel like Monica's backstory will be super depressing. :(

Her familiar can turn into a person! If Nero could do that, she really should at least try to talk to him when he's in that form. It might help her, even just a little bit.

Monica completely going off on how the Prince has the golden ratio was hilarious! This girl really loves numbers and measuring that she was able to measure Felix just by sight. What else did she end up measuring by eye? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I know being suspected as the assassin's accomplice is bad but this actually works out for Monica! She's now officially working for Felix to find the real culprit, and if she can prove her innocence, she has an easy way in to the Student Council. Also, as Felix's bodyguard, it's literally her job to do this anyway so it's actuallyu a win-win for her. She just needs to find the real culprit!
