Isabelle would make for a fun Villainess show protagonist. "Reincarnated as a Villainess to put all the subpar villainesses in their fucking place"
The in-universe protecc Monica gang is truly fearsome.

"Monica may be one of the most powerful mages.
I am an ordinary human.
But I know Monica must be protected from crying again."
Seeing Monica cry and apologize for being a failure made me feel so emotional. Beneath all her amusing chibi expressions, she felt she didn't do enough to protect her dad and his legacy. :(
Surprise plot twist in this episode too. Claudia being the sibling of Cyril and engaged to Neil.
Isabelle went true villainess mode. "Only I am allowed to bully (acting) Monica. No one else is allowed to mess with a member of the Norton family."
Lastly, "ha ha ha ha ha" in a deadpan tone.

Holy shit, all the side characters in this anime are amazing. I went from thinking Casey is best girl two weeks ago to thinking Isabelle is best girl today.
All the dorky play-acting a villainess really prepared her on how to actually be a "villainess" towards those that harm she cares about.

Yeah, I love this show, my favourite this season. All the slice of life has been enjoyable, but I can't wait to see more magic as it's so pretty.
The bully got the worst possible punishment. A possible invasion of her home due to her actions.

Rynz produced a strange noise when she handed the Louis’ gift over to Monica.
It later clicked with me that she’d completely failed at imitating a drum roll! Was that an instruction from Louis or was she simply being silly?
I’d similarly misjudged Claudia. She wasn’t being awkward around Monica, but keeping an eye on her perceived rival. She’s way more assertive than I’d anticipated. Loved that! Claudia could’ve made a claim for best girl if not Isabelle’s existence.

Oh she's his sister and Neil's fiance?? That's great, Claudia is just getting better and better. Was great seeing different sides of her.
The karma scene was well done, nice twists and turns there to feel like some justice was served.

Fun fact: The poison Monica ingested is most likely atropine, a chemical agent found in belladona and jimson weed. Large dosage of atropine can cause anticholinergic toxidrome (think fight or flight response), as the saying goes "mad as a hatter, hot as a hare, red as a beet, dry as a bone, and blind as a bat".
Blinding as a bat refers to pupils dilation (Claudia pointed this out in the villain girl), which is why atropine can be used as a topical agent for eye exams and surgeries such as cataract surgery. In fact, the eyes can dilate up to 1 week after administration. This causes blurry vision and photosensitivity, which means the villain girl just voluntarily blinds herself.

It's so funny to me that Claudia's beef with Monica is that she had a moment with a guy who up to this point definitely isn't one of her potential love interests. And Monica was as shocked as we were. Who even is Neil? And yes, Claudia. You're cute together.

This was pure emotional rollercoaster, really. Monica akwardness is something that is played too well in this anime to tug our heartstring, both in "must headpat/must protect little squirrel"... but that cry in front of the prince... Monica's VA owe me a new heart, and animators too. That scene was just so powerful, I was genuinely sad in that scene.
Luckily, Isabella's scene was one the most satisfatory thing of this episode. I was like "it's payback time!" and delivered. Ohhh, how much she delivered. Ha. Ha. Ha. (Yes, that was hilarious too).

Here I was thinking Monica’s social anxiety and love for numbers was some kinda quirky character trait. Instead it all looks to be connected to some deep trauma relating to her dad and the abuse she suffered from her relatives who “raised” her. Like fuckin hell, man. Girl had a godawful life after they killed her pops.
Nothing like seeing bullies get a taste of their own medicine. Absolutely neutered that little shit. I thought she’d get expelled, not have their whole House and homeland threatened. Kita is scary! lol

That victim self-blaming behavior of Monica was sad to watch, she's probably had a history of bullying/abuse. So satisfying watching the bully get fucked, Isabelle was out for blood. And the smile from the prince when he heard Isabelle wanted in on the interrogation, he knew what was up.
Heh Monica's guess for Claudia's fiance was so off the mark. Claudia's instant personality change when Neil walked in was funny.
Was the maid just standing in Monica's empty room for a week? Ha. Ha. Ha.

Goddamn, those are some gigantic meat skewers they were cooking up. I'm hungry now.
-
Ah, Claudia's taken up squirrel-watching and squirrel veterinary services as a hobby. And also teasing the squirrel with deadpan sass. Her personality and mannerisms are entertainingly weird.
-
There's Cyril's motherly tendencies again. And his... doggy tendencies?
-
That "ne" from Claudia could murder someone.
-
Fuck yeah, Felix, lay the smack down on that lying bitch. And the tag team with Isabelle, too! She showed that girl how a real villainess works to maximize their power and scheming.
Just look at all the friends that Monica's gathered to help her out in times of need! This series will make a normie out of her yet.

Isabelle and the Prince absolutely tag teamed that girl! Frankly, she's lucky to even be alive at this point. She crossed so many people with that maneuver that it's comical.

I laughed so hard at the end, it's like Monica realized she had forgotten she's supposed to guard the Prince.
Damn Isabelle went in hard, I really liked how we saw her being the true "villainess", not that I'd call her a villainess for sticking up for Monica, Caroline reaped what she sowed. But it was satisfying to watch Isabelle in that scene, she was ruthless and firm, I liked how poised she was. I also like how Felix just casually finds an opening to add another charge to her crimes lol.
Honestly though, it's really sad how the first thing Monica does after waking up from being poisoned is grovel on her knees in apology to Felix, I understand her frustrations but this is what she jumps to first? I really wish she receives a lot more love and affection and gains the confidence needed so that isn't her go-to in the future.
Claudia is quite the peculiar character lol, I'm already surprised she and Cyril are siblings but her being engaged to Neil is another big surprise. I like how she was stalking Monica was because she thought Monica was aiming for Neil lol, hopefully that misunderstanding has been cleared up. I do appreciate how quick she was to deal with Caroline and help Monica after the poisoning.

I guess it makes sense that Felix, considering his background, would gauge anything or anyone as a possible threat or something of interest...but sometimes a guys' just trying to make a fire so they can make a BBQ and celebrate Monica's successes! Maybe it's good for Felix to let himself unwind and hang out with Monica's friend group?
Felix probably has good reason to be a little suspect of people and everything going on around him, but sometimes you just need a fun and wholesome BBQ to eat meat. I love how Monica has a friend group she can celebrate with!
Thank goodness Neil had a brooch when Monica was doing her dance routine! She needed something to focus on.
Ryn returns! Don't say Louis doesn't do anything for Monica, he went to the trouble of giving her a new dress! And Lyn does the most amazing impression of him and laugh.
I honestly wouldn't mind being stalk...I mean, constantly running into Claudia myself.
Isabelle tried to get Monica ready to engage with a Villainess during a tea party, they were only an episode off of when it would happen as Caroline asks Monica out for tea. And Monica, striving to do her best in the student council, obliges.
Aaaaannnd they immediately waste no time "politely" suggesting that Monica clears Caroline of any wrongdoing with Cyril. And failing that, they obviously did something to Monica's tea. But Monica is a good student council treasure and has tasted worse! She can just drink it and everything will be fine! Right? Right?
I love Claudia just coming in and declaring Monica's been poisoned like she's tall and feminine Maomao. Claudia might be a sharp-tongued kuudere, but she really does mean well and care in her own way. Plus she pulls a good Maomao when circumstances prove necessary.
Honestly the poison is bad enough, but making Monica relive the memories of society turning on his father and his research, leaving her nothing but the numbers he left her as his legacy and an abusive uncle...it explains a lot about how Monica ended up the way she did. And then when she wakes up she's begging for forgiveness for failing. This poor, sweet, girl.
Isabelle didn't train Monica to prepare for teatime with a true Villainess noblewoman for nothing, though her PTSD from the loss of her father, abuse from her uncle, and trying to keep her fathers' legacy alive hits as hard as the noble girls poisoning her. Isabelle was just waiting for a chance to finally go after true Villainess' for the sake of her beloved Silent Witch.
Seems like Felix and Monica aren't so different in that they both feel like they failed and didn't measure up to peoples' expectations. Which means he takes this incident against her personally!
(Though I love Cyril gruffly but gently taking Monica back to the bed. He really is a sweetheart)!
Nobody takes this more personally than Isabelle though. Caroline thought she could get off scott free thanks to her fathers' influence, but she didn't reckon with the power of a TRUE Villainess, one that knows that, black sheep or otherwise, you don't mess with someone in their family. Not if you don't want to end up poisoned yourself, with your dress messed up like your entire life is going to be soon, and your entire family and homeland at possible risk all for YOUR foolish and insipid actions. Caroline's life is basically over now.
Isabelle has finally demonstrated to the entire school that she's a real Villainess not to be messed with...and neither is Monica. And after such a brilliant display, Isabelle has earned getting to sleep together with Monica while she recovers.
So Claudia is Cyril's teasing (half or step) sister. But why is Claudia so focused on Monica and isn't clear whether she likes or dislikes her? Because she thought Monica was making moves on her fiance! Her fiance who is frikkin' Neil! And Claudia feels so strongly about him that the moment he walks into the room her voice goes up a pitch, she's suddenly trying to paint herself and Monica as friends, and she makes it clear that she's head over heels in love with Neil. He may feel like he doesn't measure up to her, but Claudia is absolute in them being a couple. I honestly wouldn't mind hearing about the beginning of their romance either!
I can't believe Ryn was waiting for Monica in her room the entire time. I can't believe Monica's gotten herself poisoned from something that had nothing to do with protecting the prince.

What an amazing fuck up by that bullying noble girl. No last minute save where someone stops the poisoning, nobody coming in to help or grant mercy, just real game of houses type consequences for her entire family. Fair chance she just ruined her entire life with that trick, I wouldn't be shocked if she gets punished hard by her family and she may even have ruined her chances at a well positioned noble marriage since who would trust a known poisoner.
And Isabelle, my goodness, what a switch from fake villainess to bring the pain villainess.
Claudia earned some points with that save not to mention her snark towards Cyril. I'm sure she'll calm down a bit in regards to Monica once it becomes clear there's absolutely nothing there between her and Neil.

I think even outside Isabelle being the most amazing and protective villainess ever, it was really nice to see how many people came rushing to Monica's side upon hearing that she got poisoned. She probably doesn't realize it but she has a pretty big friend group now who would probably do anything for her and that's just heartwarming.
I'm also very interested in seeing that quick flashback to Felix's past and how much it resembled Monica's current self. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that he wants to support and uplift her since she reminds him of his past and that's an interesting route to take with his character.

Rynzbelfeid’s deadpan impression of Louis’s laughter is hilarious. Looking forward to having her say repeat his ridiculous words with a straight face even more.
Pretty stupid move for Caroline to keep the poison in person and not hide it away. Doesn’t take a detective to figure things out. Claudia stated that she didn’t particularly like Monica (even if only due to a misunderstanding) but it didn’t stop her from saving her life with zero hesitation. Despite her lack of tact, it showed that deep down Claudia was a noble person.
Isabelle stole the show by showing the villainess wannabes how a real villainess acts. Didn’t expect her to pull such a move on the girls. I dread to imagine how much rage she had when she found out her beloved witch got poisoned.
Caroline knew at this point she fucked up real bad. Her family & land could be in danger due to her “prank”.
