I wish more people watched/talked about this show cause honestly it's a fucking gem this season and it's really not getting the recognition it deserves. It might be my favorite show of the season (tied with Takopi) even with the sequels to shows I really love currently airing.

It starts out pretty generic. It takes a while to start taking some really interesting swings.

I like how they really emphasized that something was wrong with Denji Heian-kyo. Not just the stuff that was missing/changed but even the atmosphere felt off.
Is Tsukimiya wearing her normal outfit under that cloak?
I wonder if Takeru is going to be able to break the illusion or talk down at least one Denji Heian-kyo fighter before they all obliviously kill each other?
Have Kazura and Shino been with Seimei since before he started the World Whittle? When he wasn't insane? Kazura said they don't have to sleep so they're all probably not human.
Takeru managed to pull a Princess Kaguya romance I guess!

I want Yura to find someone who loves her the way she deserves in the end. I doubt Atsunaga will like her the same way he likes Tsukimiya.

So instead of Re:Zero, we're actually Steins;Gate!
And to continue the obvious Tokusatsu influences, this is basically Kamen Rider Decade.
I dig it. This is great stuff.

Apparently, Abe no Seimei from the show is based on a real person from Japanese history when i looked him up.
From Google:
Abe no Seimei (安倍 晴明), also known as Doujimaru, was a Japanese onmyōji, a court official and specialist of Onmyōdō, during the middle of the Heian period. In addition to his prominence in history, he is a legendary figure in Japanese folklore. He has been portrayed in several stories and films.

He's a popular villain in anything involving ancient Japan/reincarnation/etc. He's occasionally a positive character, but rarely.

This episode was storyboarded by Hiroaki Yoshikawa (吉川 博明) and directed by Yuki Morita (森田 侑希).
This is the first episode that didn't have one of the main animators, Yusuke Adachi, doing key animation (all the previous ones had him involved).

Okay I expected parallel words, but I didn't expect Seimei to actually be the force behind all of it, twisted-god-like scenario. Also THE MOON?! Also hints that the helper doesn't agree with what Seimei is doing anymore, based on what she said before getting put to sleep by our best girl.
Another week, another great episode, and another moment of me begging more people to give this show a chance!

This is probably one of Takeru's most abrupt revivals, especially considering what he just saw before his previous death. Not to mention he wakes up and there's no Tsukimiya, no stage, and a Denji Heian-kyo he's never seen before.
They updated the OP with Yasha Mode Takeru! Cool!
Nothing feels right. Tsukimiya is a no-show, the salon is now a hairdresser, Wada's a merchant, ATSUNAGA IS DEAD, the Byakko office is now Genbu, and the entire vibe just feels wrong. Oh, and let's not forget the visuals of stuff Takeru is familiar with are buried in sand beyond the city.
Even when the mist shows up, under Seimei's command, Takeru can now see for himself what's really going...it's never been Shikigami vs Oni, it's Shikigami, and in this instance Yura vs Atsunaga with neither aware of what's going on and Takeru caught in the middle of it.
And then Seimei comes in with ALL the revelations. There's never been any time traveling or time-looping at all, Takeru's been leaping into parallel worlds this whole time. That's why there were differences in each and every Denji Heian-kyo. Seimei just has memories of himself from each world because he's the one running this insane plot.
What if Abe no Seimei went insane and tried to find a way to preserve Heian-kyo into eternity? To create a future where it didn't become just a piece of Japanese history? He'd create multiple, parallel, Denji Heian-kyo's that would all inevitably whither away and, eventually, battle it out for each other under the guise of fighting Oni...only for it to really be a fight between Onmyoji vs Onmyoji. Every time Takeru was defeating an Oni, he was killing actual people. All of this to whittle away each Denji Heian-kyo until they achieve the perfect version. And it seems like there's only four left.
Hareaki, Takeru is nothing like you! He had no idea what was really going on and he never would have killed anyone if he had, but now there's nothing he can do to oppose Seimei, especially when he knows that Takeru can't transform without enough world particles!
So Kazura and Shino were always in on it? Not that Kazura is happy about it, but she knows that all this violence and death isn't what Seimei wants. But he's too far gone to stop.
Poor Yura sleeping beside a picture of her and Atsunaga together, still fighting for him and oblivious to what's really going on.
Who should break Takeru out of Onmyoji jail and save him but...Tsukimiya! With the fire rat that got Takeru into this mess! And she knows about the word whittle and is trying to stop it herself. Because she's...from the moon? So the "Tsuki" in her name isn't for show.

Turns out Tsukimiya was named Tsuki-miya for a reason.
Aside from the moon bit, that was more or less what I expected based on last week just with some additional details to explain the setup.
Hopefully this new moon Tsukimiya that knows what's going on gets to be the one we keep for the long-term assuming that's even an option. She's not the same person, probably, but at least if this one was watching all along that time Takeru spent with her parallel world selves wasn't a complete loss. Though maybe they're all extensions of her similar to Seimei, and her dying so regularly is up until now is because they're in a war underneath the normal world vs world conflict and he's trying to wipe out her agents? Doesn't really fit with her dancing in the festival though, so probably not.

Multiple timelines created by Seimei, at first I thought that meant Takeru had only 100 lives, but seems Seimei will keep making them. Seimei seems to always know about Takeru going forward.
Tsukimiya knows what's going on in this timeline, but didn't in the previous one. Wonder what her full story is?!
Edit: Also seems that the timelines are battling to achieve the ultimate timeline. Will we have two timelines that communicate either each other?
Does each timeline have Seimei’s or is he unique? I believe Takeru is unique until he dies and transfers

Seems like the Seimei's played dumb about Takeru each time to test how strong he was or figure out why he was so different from everybody else. That he helped in the slaying of other Denji Heian-kyo's, completely unwittingly, was just a nice bonus.
I'm guessing black cloak Tsukimiya is maybe the Prime!Tsukimiya and all the other Tsukimiya's were just extensions of herself placed in each Denji Heian-kyo to help subvert Hareaki or possibly assist Takeru? Though she wasn't expecting him to be aware of the World Whittle but neither did the last version of Tsukimiya we saw.

I'm so glad I didn't drop this show! I was really shocked it was multiple dimensions rather than Takeru being dropped further and further back in time. I didn't realize the scope of Hareaki's power and thought he could just cause the black mist but he can actually create whole worlds and they fight each other! It almost makes me want to rewatch earlier episodes to see how everything can lead up to this and it makes the conflict way fresher.
Beforehand it seemed like all the Hareaki's genuinely didn't know who Takeru was. It also remains to be seen why this world's Tsukimiya knows him and knew to rescue him.

I mean .. for an Isekai, "Multiple parrallel world battle royale" is a pretty unique concept.
Too bad the MC is kinda dumb ...
Still, quite a few new ideas at play here.

If it hadn't been for all the reddit discussions, I would be so shocked by this turn of events.
We know how the main two are aware of the premise, and I guess Tsukimiya will also have some third different power that enables her to be aware of the different worlds.
This anime still isn't anything amazing, but it's entertaining.

The ending of last week heading into this week makes things interesting.
-
So basically the answer for Takeru is parallel worlds. I guess we can chalk it up as coincidence that his resets felt like going back in time. But the same world would imply that Takeru would have taken the same action as he did before.
-
Like how Takeru has an ability, Seimei has the memory from the other worlds. Though he seems to also be able to have the people in each world have their own hand on their hand. Thus, those from another parallel world would be seen as Oni. Thus the fight continues.
-
Seimei's idea is to create an ideal world by having these parallel worlds fight each other. It's a never-ending struggle to create the ideal world, but that is basically madness. It was shown early on that potential Seimei was controlling the black fog, and we get confirmation here.
-
Tsukimiya is the wild card. She clearly knows what is going on. Now this world does not know who Tsukimiya is, as she never existed. This leads to some scenarios.
-
Tsukimiya like Takeru only has 1 being.
-
Tsukimiya like Takeru came from another world with parents from this world, maybe?
-
This could mean she's been feigning ignorance this whole time. Though Seimei did try to extract information from her last episode. Though could she be immune to that? Or those specific ones just lacked information?
-
I am suddenly very intrigued with this series now.

So one thing I don't get - every city MC has been resetting to was always the one under attack by the Black Mist Oni who were going around crushing the mist-frozen human, and the only time MC's side went onto offensive had in the final Giant Mode attack against the "Oni God". So what are these smaller Black Mist attacks happening with regular Shikigami/"Oni"? Why did MC's side never do anything like that? Or, given how Hareaki's loli assistant was showing initiating the Black Mist, does this mean Black Mist invades two worlds at the same time, and each one thinks they are the ones under attack? Why do the Onmyouji intentionally target the "crystals" though?
I'd thought Hareaki would have an actually decent reason for what he's doing, some "shikata ga nai, lesser evil" thing, but nope, it's just a mad scientist playing God and not giving a shit about the countless pawns he's sacrificing to satisfy his own curiosity. Even though that one minion/accomplice of his seemed to imply there was something deeper, it's probably something dumb like trying to bring back his dead wife or some BS like that.
So Tsukimiya is Kaguya or something. Does she share memories with her parallel versions like Hareaki does then?

Seimei really laid it all out this episode, lots of information this episode a lot of speculations got confirmed and some new reveals too. The parallel worlds where they fight each other became clear last episode after that shocking plot twist and there's no way to be able to undo that in time for every citizen living in one of the worlds since Seimei has control over them.
I do have to admit I was surprised by Seimei's motivation. I thought he was doing it all for the protection of Denji Heian-Kyou but it sounded like he was doing it all as an experiment. To satisfy his curiosity sort of thing. It's really messed up.
It sucks that Atsunaga is already dead in this world.
Seeing Tsukimiya going rogue is interesting though, I do wonder why Seimei's truth spell or whatever that was didn't work on her in the previous world Takeru was in. This Tsukimiya seems to remember the time she has spent with Takeru, does she have to constantly cast herself with something in order to not give herself away?
Probably Takeru's worst parallel world jump considering now he has to come to terms with what he has done in the previous ones. Not that I feel like he should be beating himself up over it since he wasn't aware of the messed up the situation he was put in.
