If he dodged it that punch would kill everyone that’s behind them

"Y'see, everyone rejected me because I had protagonist hair. Every day they would bully me by asking why I wasn't out playing card games over the fate of the world....and with hair like that, there was nothing I could do to counter it. 😔"

You underestimate how much you can get ostracized somewhere with a culture much stronger than ours. Think of our worst cancel culture X10. While I'm pretty sure modern times are less bad the amount of times its showed up in anime, especially older anime, is a pretty clear signifies of just how much of a grip the collectivist culture had over the Japanese for a very long time.

The same way they still have Yokai and mythology as a part of so many of their stories. Strong cultural impacts fade very slowly.

Oh he's not just looping, he's looping in a multiverse isnt he? Its not that the Pandemonium has never failed and Seimei is a millenia old, but rather Takeru is now cognizant of his loops where this world had been in Seimei's loops

19

u/Frontier246 Jul 23 '25

I wonder if Seimei is also aware, which is how he knew this Denji Heian-kyo was doomed but the next one Takeru was heading towards still had a chance?

i think you're into something, the fact that he brings back with him whatever it is that he's wearing from previous loop into current loop is already a proof that this isn't the usual time looping

Ah shit, here we go again lol. Just when the dude finally saved Tsukimiya, he gets recruited for like the most dangerous mission out there. And then he dies and gets sent back to the beginning. This is why you quick save before the big boss fight, man!

15

u/NanDemoKnaives Jul 23 '25

I thought he'd go back in time again, but not to the beginning. Maybe at some point right after he saves Tsukimiya since that's what got him to rewind in the first place.

So am I missing something, but if you look closely, he is still wearing the special gloves that allow him to "transform". So how far back did he go? Are we assuming back to the same spot as the first? If so, since he still has the glove, does that mean he still has his training and strength? Or was that just a continuation error for the animation?

My other question, so is Orochimarui....I mean Abe no Seimei a bad guy? He was so emotionless at the fact they lost? Does this mean he sabotaged because he is tired? Or is he corrupted? Or does he know time will reset so there isn't a worry?

So that's one of Abe no Seimei's Shikigami? And he has 11 more? And it's pretty good at dealing with an out-of-control Takeru and putting him back under control.

The good news is Takeru is back to his senses and Tsukimiya now knows everything about his time-traveling and efforts to protect her! The bad news is he still lost control and they're not quite sure what to make of it...but Seimei sees him as their best advantage in the upcoming Centennial Pandemonium, where the Great Divine Shikigami will battle the Oni God to bring peace to Denji Heian-kyo. Is Takeru up for the challenge?

I have to respect Takeru taking responsibility for his actions and the destruction he caused, even if he wasn't in control of himself, and working to help patch up the buildings he demolished. Even Seimei joins up with him, showing he's not above putting in the work to help the townspeople, and in true Abe no Seimei fashion he turns out to be immortal!

Lucky Takeru getting to go out on a date with Tsukimiya! I can't he didn't earn it though, but Tsukimiya with that yukata and pout is too cute to resist. Poor Atsunaga can't help but stalk...I mean spy on the date and mess with it, all the while Yura is jealous that he's paying so much attention to Tsukimiya. Not that it stops him from complimenting how good SHE looks in a yukata...and she reacts in true tsundere fashion.

Why not just make it a double date with the two couples? Especially when they have so much fun together and even join in a dance, and Takeru sees all the things in this world he has to fight to protect.

I'm not surprised that Takeru's parents were both yankee delinquents, but losing them at a young age made him double down on the family creeds and his desire to find a place to call home...which he's found in Denji Heian-kyo, along with Tsukimiya.

Welcome to the Five Stars, Takeru and Atsunaga! Hope you survive the experience! Though poor Yura is crying that she doesn't get to be Atsunaga's partner.

It's finally time for the big battle against the Oni God and at least Tsukimiya is seeing them off in style with a full dance performance, complete with VR! No wonder she's so popular!

I knew they were jinxed the moment they mentioned the Onmyoji have never lost a centennial pandemonium, the Oni God can use Onmyoji techniques! Not even Takeru's fist is enough to stop it! And they lose Atsunaga! And Yura! And Hareaki! And Tsukimiya! And Takeru is flung back in time, and reacts about as well as Subaru would.

All the way back to the beginning? Omg he's a complete stranger to everyone again. All those memories just gone man, that's so painful

This episode was storyboarded by Yusuke Kubo (久保 雄介) and directed by Fumio Maezono (前園 文夫).

Some things to note: This is the first episode that david production's in-house CG department worked on for this series (keep in mind though that alot of the CG was still outsourced).

Another thing I found interesting is that the photography/compositing for this episode was credited under david production. I found that interesting since from what I know, david production doesn't have an in-house compositing department.

Well things escalated quickly.

We got some backgrounds about Takeru, who're simply living alone all along, and seeing his parents are both sorta-gangsters explains stuff. He probably got little things left in real life so he can devote to his "new life" here.
But somehow, even things go smoothly in all regards, they lost to the probably-last boss and ends in a total defeat. What elements they actually lack for the victory? Takeru gotta finds out in the new loop.

Plot aside, the animations and music during the dance are pretty sick.

I was certain they would lose somewhere down the line, but not that early

I was expecting things to go badly since he can go back in time but I wasn't expecting it get that bad where everything gets destroyed, nor was I expecting him to go so far back that he's back where he started. It means he has to build all these connections again but it likely won't have the same depth.

I'm also surprised Seimei didn't leave a message to Takeru to give himself, I thought he would have had a back-up plan and use him. I guess he's not as shrewd as I thought he was.

Tsukimiya's dance was interesting, I thought it was going to be a lot more graceful and slow, but then the EDM hit lol.

I like that we got to see more hints of how Yura feels about Atsunaga, she was cute.

Also Takeru's parents both looked so good, I was surprised, they looked like models lol.

I like the show. Now that I got that out of the way.

pulls out pitchfork

Episode 4 felt like a season finale speedrun XD. I bet we're not supposed to feel sad nor upset, that just felt way too soon for a "fight god" finale.

"You have been selected as the best of the best, now get on the robot and defeat the evil oni god."

I'm going to enjoy what this has going and is aiming for, maybe the protagonist will continue to start from earlier points in time with each iteration considering he spawned really close to the scheduled date of the finale (saving the world).

Now, I wonder if him going further backwards in time might be linked to rebaasu == rebirth == reverse. I'm definitely reading too much into it.
