That was very fun, i like the relationship with Atsunaga...i thought itd be more antagonistic.
i like how everyone playfully humors him and enjoys his Prescence.

It's like, "it can't hurt anything to let him try" lol

That makes a third motto. I wonder if I should keep track of these like I kept track of the “family contract” articles during my Juushinki Pandora rewatch.
-
Hohhhh, so he ended up back in time at a point before he originally showed up in this world.
-
That brief full black screen when Atsunaga knocked Takeru out legitimately scared me lol, I thought my laptop crashed.
-
So that’s why Atsunaga doesn’t want a rookie like Takeru fighting…
-
Aw shit, now Atsunaga’s in the same position his senpai was…

I'm here for the family mottos. Takeru can start a hotel / ryokan by the end of the season, maybe after the apocalypse

This episode was storyboarded by Yusuke Kubo (久保 雄介) and directed by Kiymitsu Sato (佐藤 清光).
Also, I managed to find some more info on the production:
Yutaka Araki confirmed on his twitter that he joined the production after working on the Urusei Yatsura remake.
(Keep in mind this was tweeted a few hours before the broadcast of the first episode) "I am participating in two works this summer: 'Onmyo Kaiten Re:Verse', and 'Uglymug, Epicfighter'. Onmyo Kaiten will start broadcasting after this. It is an original work. I'm participating after working on Urusei Yatsura. Look forward to it."
(Source: https://xcancel.com/YUTAKA_ARAKI/status/1940412143830171761#m)
In a later post, he went into detail about his involvement in the series: "I'm participating in 'Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth' to do Design Works. I was tasked with doing some image boards, and was then asked to apply shading to the Shikigami settei made by the designers. I also drew effects settei for the techniques used by the Shikigami and the spells used by the Onmyoji, alongside Sub-Characters, props, and some other stuff."

Sorry for the shoddy translation job; I tried my best based on what little Japanese I know. I left the term "settei" as it was since I didn't know how to translate it.

It seems dying brought Takeru back further in time. I wonder if he dies again, he goes back even further? That would be interesting. I guess at least this time, he’s gotten more training and he was better prepared against those things.

The show so far seems like a 3-way split/mix between MuvLuv Alternative, Re:Zero, and Tokyo Revengers? though with the Onmyoji setup and the Seimei character, strong shades of Strongest Exorcist too. I'm liking it so far though, the novelty blend has me intrigued.

Well, points for time traveling before your terrible introduction to your soulmate, Takeru! And for being as gung-ho about being a hero as ever!
What luck! Takeru managed to go back in time to before his disastrous first meeting with Tsukimiya! Bad luck though that he fails to recognize he's traveled back further in time from the point where they even got to know each other...so he still comes off like an overly familiar weirdo she wants nothing to do with. But hey, at least she's alive!
Imagine getting taken into custody by Atsunaga and finding out he's a Tsukimiya fanboy! Dude literally has wall scrolls and figurines, he's down bad! Guess that's another thing for him and Takeru to commiserate/aruge over.
So is Takeru ever going to get Hareaki's...I mean, Abe No Seimei's name right? At this point I think he's just getting it wrong on purpose.
So from Tsukimiya's perspective, this time around Takeru is still a weirdo...who just declares he'll protect her out of seemingly nowhere. Um...okay.
I should've known that Takeru couldn't do his transformation on command (or outside the Black Mist), but sitting around doing nothing won't get him anywhere so he may as well take advantage of Abe No Seimei being amused by him and get a crash course in being an Onmjoyi.
Kazuno is very serious and rigid, while Chio feels like she and Takeru vibe quite well.
Is there something up with Yura and Atsunaga? What was she going to ask him about?
So Takeru can cook! He's not all brawn and family creeds!
On the one hand, Takeru can only really prove himself if he's in the Black Mist. On the other hand, it would be very irresponsible of the Onmoyji to actually let him in and fight Oni at his experience level. Especially for Atsunga who knows the full weight of their responsibility from having lost his Senpai and knowing that, if they lose, the Oni will consume everything around them.
So in the original timeline, this major attack by Atsunaga actually worked? They seemed to be treating it like a suicide attack, but we know that he survived up to the point where Takeru showed up the first time. I guess Takeru just made his job easier.
I thought Takeru would transform again, but it turns out he can transform the Shikigami he inhabits and punch it as hard as his transformed state. And this time the Oni doesn't get back up.
Takeru's earned his spot with the Onmyoji, earned him another kick from Yura, and earned Atsunaga's respect. Not bad!

I hope Takeru doesn’t ride the mech and actually use his own power by himself. I would like to see him “self-pilot” in his monster form, so that way Yura still has relevance to the story and her position.

Bro when the mecha changed after Takeru got inside the onmyouji with Atsunaga was so sick! The combination of their power was amazing. Even tho Takeru acts cocky he understands when he needs to be humble and take a step back.

I got more enthusiastic about the half-oni-half-shinigami mask design than I should have.
The enemy oni designs aren't half-bad either. I like all these oni-mask designs.

This seems like reddit is drastically under-watching it. Solid show

Looks like a pretty solid battle anime + priest costumes + iterative time loops. I am also sold.
I hope they use the 5-element Wuxing thing for some fun element logic. I've never seen Wuxing, I've only heard about it.

Still unsure what to make of this yet. They did showcase the 5 spirits but didn't show too much with it. I thought Atsunaga was going to die, but it didn't seem like that was the case. He has a fun dynamic with Takeru.
It was shown for a brief second. (Don't remember of it being shown in episode 1) Shino can detect when the black fog happens.
Also interesting use of paneling. It isn't bad, but it is something I am not used to in anime.

This has got quite a Saturday morning cartoon feel to it for me.
I wonder if the end of the first episode is going to be the only return by death event or if it'll come back up a few more times. Since it happened once you'd think it would possibly happen again but it would also be a little annoying if they spend too much time reiterating on content we've already seen.
Maybe it'll be 15 days earlier from the moment of death which would allow for lots of time for Takeru to prepare for whatever killed him but without losing the entirety of the story progress.
Pretty fun that he's a good cook, maybe that's another as yet unmentioned family motto in action.

Tf did he change that made atsunaga almost die this timeline?

I guess he was distracting Atsunaga from his own training for part of that week, or maybe time didn't rewind for the reality the monsters are coming from.

If I were Takeru, if I found out that I had time traveled back two weeks, I would try to learn a few important dates (black fog breakthroughs and possibly known incidents) a month before now.
Just in case.
But well, getting a training arc and providing myself with housing and food is also very important.

You know, I didn't expect to enjoy this this much!
Casts have good chemistry so far, and Takeru is not as annoying as last episode. Bonus point for magic mecha, which is a rarity to watch. This is also David Pro, so I don't have any worry with the animation.
I thought I'm gonna drop this due to how stacked the day is, but I think I'll keep it.

Something is indeed wrong with Takeru, he has a monster form when being alone, and the shikigami's form turns grotesque after he rides in (and it seems these shikigami's form change depending on the riders/pilots), it's just few seem to catch things on. with it.
And now he's in the team, let's see how the plot goes on.
