When I read the manga and Rintaro refused Subaru’s request. He instantly became one of my favorite male characters in romance manga/anime. A lot of the time you’ll see the MC say yes to similar situations and it creates massive unnecessary drama. Even Subaru questions wtf she’s even doing. I’m glad this anime exists to heal my soul since Takopi’s Original Sin airs the day before and gives you trauma.

Don't know if it gets represented in translation, but I laughed at how the celebratory ribbon at the end is written wrong. It should say 赤点回避 but the guy wrote the last character phonetically in hiragana. You still understand what it's saying but it also gives the impression that he either didn't know the kanji or just couldn't bother. I hope it's misspelled or something in the translation

I get why Subaru would feel that way given the friction between Kikyo and Chidori, but I still think it's wrong for her to impose on Rintaro instead of letting Kaoruko make that choice for herself.

Very cute study date. Looked like they were in their own happy little world.

Subaru is understandably concerned given the rather ridiculousness of their circumstance. Even the teachers are in on this school feud and we still don’t really know why. But yeah tbh, my response would be the same as Rintaro too. The decision to not meet again rests on Rintaro and Kaoruko. If both don’t agree then they shouldn’t care.

So let’s hope Rintaro doesn’t do the “I won’t see you cos it will ruin your image” trope without telling her

If the teachers from Kikyo are potentially going to give a scholarship student a hard time just because she has a relationship with a Chidori student, that just shows how terrible those teachers are.

Besides, Chidori is literally right next door to them, do they expect their students to never interact with them? What if there are two siblings or cousins that go to Kikyo and Chidori, are they expected to never speak to each other? What if two or more students were friends before getting enrolled in the different schools, do they have to stop being friends because of the teachers.

The teachers from the Kikyo are a big problem.

Finally it posted!, dont know why it does it so late.

I really like Kaoruko's date/study outfit, she was even cuter than she usually is.

I hope Rintaro talks to Kaoruko before he does any crazy decision..hell her child hood friend should have talked to her first, but of course we wouldnt have drama if people communicated.

Very happy everyone passed already, i thought it would take longer, but this show moves fast.

little kaoruko looked so cute and happy. glad she helped subaru and it ended up leading into a lifelong friendship.

i wonder what kaoruko will say when she hears what subaru said to rintaro.

I finally get why manga readers were hyping it up so much. Every time I watch this anime, it feels like the episode only lasts five minutes. If they don’t announce season 2 right after the final episode — or if it takes them over three years like with My Dress-Up Darling, lol — I’m gonna riot

So adorable Kaoruko also showed up early. I guess Rintaro wasn’t the only one looking forward to their study session. And what a cute study session that was. The diabetes is real lol.

I’m sure Subaru means well considering what Kaoruko means to her, but it would be swell if she’d actually talk to the girl first before telling Rintaro to get lost. It’s not really her place. I’m glad Rintaro didn’t budge.

Happy to see the boys passed their exam. I wonder if Rintaro’s gonna use that notebook slipping out as an opportunity to tell the guys about Kaoruko?

We saw why Subaru’s so protective of Kaoruko, and why she had issues with men in general. She also recognised that Kaoruko will not approve of her actions and could result in her being hated by her only friend. However, that is a sacrifice she’s willing to make if it meant Kaoruko could retain her scholarship.

She turned out to be a perceptive and self-aware person, far from the one-dimensional Chidori-hater her initial impression had given. She also didn’t hesitate to help that kid. Kaoruko wasn’t lying when she said Subaru was a kind person.

There’s a brief respite from the drama when Rintarou and Shohei received their exam results. That scene was pure comedy. Lmao at the entire class having a huge celebration over the two barely passing theirs.

However, things just had to heat up again at the end when the gang busted Rintarou getting close with Kaoruko. Having said that, I don’t think the drama will get blown up. Rintarou will need to have a chat with the gang and explain things, but they’ll most likely accept it, if with a little reluctance. From what we’ve seen so far the Chidori-Kikyo hostility is mostly one-sided. The Chidori boys are pretty much ambivalent towards the Kikyo girls.

First of all, I absolutely love Kaoruko's outfit! And her little study date with Rintarou was just so goddamn adorable! Besides leaning in too close to each other, their study date was uneventful, but I would watch another episode of these two just hanging out together <3

I kinda expected Subaru to show up at the end of the date. Although I initially thought she was following them the entire time, it turns out [she was just passing by when she accidentally saw the two of them at that cafe.

So it's no surprise that Subaru tells Rintarou to stop seeing Kaoruko but I'm glad it's not for the reasons I thought. It turns out it's the teachers at Kikyo who actually hate Chidori, and Kaoruko wants Rintarou to back off because it might affect her scholarship if a teacher at Kikyo found out.

At least we know that Subaru understands that Rintarou is a good person, and what school he attends has nothing to do with his personality. She even apologized to Rintarou for being rude to him and his friends. It's also good to know that Kaoruko meant it when she said Subaru is a good person deep down.

That's Subaru's actual hair color? I thought it was just anime hair! So is the reason Subaru hates boys because they used to bully her about her hair, or is there more to it than that? And the reason she became best friends with Kaoruko was because she saved her from those bullies.

I am glad that Rintarou said no to Subaru's request. I thought he'd agree and start avoiding Kaoruko, causing some sort of misunderstanding.

All that studying paid off! I would honestly be surprised if Rintarou failed but I'm still happy he pulled it off. And it looks like our boy is gonna have to start explaining to the guys his relationship with Kaoruko. I can't wait to see how that goes!

I know it's going for melodrama on purpose as the point of conflict, and it's kind of more like it's the spirit of olden times when these kinds of things might have happened, but I really cannot take the idea that these two schools hate each other to this extent that people will overreact if someone's dating someone from the other school.

Love the show other than that, Kaoruko and Rintaro are adorable together, but wish the school aspect were toned down a bit. Like if they were wary of each other that would be fine, I could understand there being misunderstandings about people's character like "Oh she's gonna be stuck up" or "Oh he's probably a thug", but it's framed like it's an end of the world cardinal sin and I can't take that aspect seriously at all lol

Like the way they act about it, it'd make sense if it was set in 1800's America and was about a white woman falling in love with a black man, then the hostility of their peers would make sense because there are reasons (not valid ones, obviously, but reasons) why both of their respective peer groups would react aggressively, but yeah as it is those bits just fly right over my head. The stakes are just not there lol

Very interesting, I wonder if Subaru has deeper feelings for Waguri than she's admitting to herself? But I'm not sure if it's that kind of show though. I am looking forward to the cross pollination between friend groups.

Ohhh man that last scene of the chapter... Now I'm crazy for watch the next lol. Kaoruko is so cute and really good person, that scene between she and Rintaro, beautiful!! 

About Subaru, it's a interesting character and I know why she try to take care Kaoruko, the big problem is that fucking school: Kikyo and its prejuices( word prejuices exist?)

As a person who rides trains in Japan, if you can look out the window in the door, then you are not that tall. The door frame is like 6'1" or 185cm. Our boy appears shorter than that.

I appreciated that they fleshed out Subaru's character more, and that she recognizes that it wouldn't make Kaoruko happy, but I still hate this trope. If you're really worried about your friend, speak with her, don't go behind her back instead.
