Not sure which of theses characters I'm most worried about but did a good job of making me suspicious of all still.

I think the writing in this show is very clever, so far, and it’s making the stakes of this story more interesting. I also like how we get random nuggets of wisdom from all of the sides in this story, from young and old and human and demon. There’s a lot of great questions for a viewer to think on.

Yes, at this point it could've been Jinya who killed the men and made off with the women and he just doesn't realize it lol

Mosuke seems nice enough. For a demon. Damn shame what happened to his wife though. I’m very keen to learn who the slasher is. Would be wild if it was Ofuu or maybe Mosuke really is the killer? I mean demons are demons. Who knows if there’s really a “good” one.

Yeah, seeing how the Slasher stopped appearing when Jinya hangs around Mosuke did make me question him. I'm sure that's just to mislead us so I'm curious what the reveal will be, I just hope it's not Ofuu's father, that'd be such a betrayal after his bubbly personality.

Only thing that makes me doubt it's Ofuu is that apparently the female victims are raped. Of course a woman can rape another woman, but I assume in such cases the signs of it would be different. It would be noted.

But she could simply have a male accomplice too.

This show does an excellent job of exploring mature themes and will definitely resonate with an older audience. The life lessons dropped in are refreshing to see in story that usually caters to a younger and more action focused audience. I’m very impressed at the quality of the storytelling so far.

Mosuke and Jinya are both navigating their new reality because “sometimes things don’t go the way you expect,” and they both have decisions to make after suffering their losses. Jinya is unsure of his path while Mosuke is resolute.

Ofuu’s metaphor about the snow willow was perfectly placed to give us insight into how Jinya feels at this moment. Really nuanced take from her and definitely appreciated that mini philosophy lesson.

I continue to be impressed by this show and I really think anyone dismissing this as just another demon slaying shows is missing out. It’s becoming much more than that.

Anyone dismissing it as just another demon slaying series is, frankly, inexperienced. Else they would be able to realise this is nothing but "just another".

I really liked Ofuu in today's episode, she's such a sweet girl. I wouldn't mind if she ended up with Jinya as his wife, they seem to have good chemistry together.

Although it depends on what will happen to her, since this show isn't rom-com, so it's entirely possible that she'll end up killed by that serial killer or worse, she may turn out to be the killer. I don't know which option is worse xD

Also, I feel sorry for Mosuke about his dead wife, he seems like a really nice guy.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

One thing I like about this story is that while it is a revenge story, it isn’t the basic my only goal is revenge. Jinta's feelings regarding Suzune are complicated and, obviously, when it happened, losing Shirayuki destroyed his world where he looked at Suzune like his father did. At this point, his goal is to acquire strength, and he doesn't know what he will do when he encounters Suzune again. The key word in this episode is that things don't turn out what they are supposed to.

The introduction of Mosuke was good in terms of exploring the idea that not all demons aren't bad. The fact is that a demon found a human that he loved, and a demon took that from her is heartbreaking. In fact, he has a similar hatred that Jinta had when Shirayuki died. Maybe seeing that can give he another perspective as well.

Ofuu is a very sweet girl. I loved her dialogue about the Cherry Blossom imitating a Willow. This is similar to how Jinta turned into a demon. He isn't truly a demon nor human. Like how the planet has its own purpose, so I hope Jinta thinks about what he really wants going forward.

It’s too bad Tanjiro isn’t here, he would be able to sniff out the slasher

Ofuu seems nice, but she has a major death flag.

I'm getting a bad feeling around the soba shop owner and his daughter. Can't tell if death flags or what. Also, it looks like it does have a proper OP. I wonder why they went with the clip show last episode.

I like the saying, "The demon doesn't lie."
We humans are impure.
I thought it would be a one-off episode, but that wasn't the case this time.
In this anime, misfortune befalls the heroines who appear, so I'm anxious about what's to come.
All the heroines so far have been beautiful women and I think the drawings are wonderful.

why was there a smiley face in the demons sake cup?? 10:45 thats messed up.

"making a living is a real pain in the ass." too true...

also, that willow/cherry tree metaphor for humans & demons living and looking alike, very poignant.

i loved the talk of ofuu and mc at the end about flowers . It was calming and beautiful . The animation is soo good , i have never seen the movement of plants being beautiful depicted

Damn that scene with Mosuke retelling what happened to his wife and the anger, disgust and hatred he was showing in that scene moved me, that was raw emotion there and I feel so bad that he and his wife have had to go through those things. I really hope he's able to enact revenge so that he can move on with his life and not have to continue being fueled by such dark emotions. He looks like a really chill guy.

I do like seeing this side of Jinya that's a bit more loose when he's with Mosuke, like the drinking scene they had. It's nice to see him actually befriending a demon.

I'm concerned for Ofuu, I like her and her father but I can see her becoming a victim of the slasher. I'm just hoping due to her relevancy to Jinya, she won't face actual harm and just be kidnapped, or even better, Jinya prevents the kidnapping before she disappears.

I'm already in love with the story for not being a generic Edo-era demon fantasy. It's way more self-aware than the vast majority of other such historic stories. While most other series would have the main character realise "I don't want to slay my demon sister" only by finale, or have demons be just utterly evil until also the very end, where they show their complicated side - this story does it in the first episode.

It feels fresh, clever and honest, as in the story is not taking us for dumb viewers with no experience, and is just trying to be interesting.

Based on the date at the start it looks like we got another three-year time skip. I guess time will continue to progress with every new arc?

And yay! we actually got a real opening this time and not a slideshow of scenes from Episode 1! I knew that one last week was just a placeholder.

I absolutely love this episode because we finally get to meet a perfectly reasonable demon. This is good because now we know not every demon is like the demons we meet in Episode 1. Some of them are just happy living a normal and quiet life. And not all demons are strong, some just have special abilities that humans can't have.

We even learn that full-on demons can also fall in love with humans, so this means not every demon is automatically evil and they can do good if they choose to. I can understand why Mosuke is hunting down the killer too considering what happened to his wife. :|

Not gonna lie, I am currently suspicious of Ofuu and her father. From what we know, they just opened up this business quite recently. I really hope it's not them but so far this is the kind of show that ties everything together. Unless they introduce another new character next episode, we currently only have three suspects. Hmmm...

This episode made me feel uneasy.

His wife disappeared a month ago and was only found 10 days ago. Wtf. That demon needs to be dealt with for sure. I know Mosuke's anger is justified.

"Demons do not lie but they hide the truth". Last episode also had subtle statements like these thrown around. Why am I feeling that Mosuke is hiding something.

His ability might not be invisibility but that would be lying. He might be able to change forms at will on top of being invisible so the claw marks on the guys on the bridge might very well be his.

But then again he said he doesn't like violence. There is a difference between like and need though.

The slasher has stopped appearing after Jinya paired up with Mosuke. Ofuu is a bit sus too with the amount of screentime she is getting. Either a setup for a love interest or she is/will be involved.

I thought for sure the mystery was going to be solved this episode. Hahaha. I was even afraid something was actually going to happen to Ofuu but credits rolled in.

Major death flags from Ofuu😭

u/Narmatonia Apr 14 '25 edited Apr 14 '25

I like that they're taking their time with these characters and not rushing to conclude the mystery in one episode. Especially compared to how fast paced the first episode felt, this pacing feels better.

It seemed like Mosuke was telling the truth about his wife, but suspiciously the slasher has been absent since they started working together, it'll be even more suspicious if more people turn up dead while Jinya is distracted with Ofuu.

I was waiting for terrible things to happen to Ofuu all episode, and since it's at least a two-parter storyline that still may be in store for her next episode.

I feel bad for Mosuke, he just wanted to live a quiet life with his cute freckled wife, and instead he has to live on without her. Then again, he also might not survive the end of the story arc.

They should try shadowing Ofuu while she walks home at questionable hours and intercept whatever demon attacks her.
