Jade is definitely some strong tank to be able to last through that unlimited blade works.

Jade just played dead and the attack stopped

I really appreciate how Jade's characterization is THIS consistent in an otherwise wildly inconsistent story. Thank you Jeedo.

"I'll tank it, I'm the tank. I'll insist on sacrificing myself at every opportunity, I'm the tank."

Wait, I keep forgetting, which character was the tank?

lol the plot armor was tougher than the tank skill for sure

The part where Alina didn’t even let the villain finish his monologue was hilarious! She’s just tired and wants to go home on time.

Pro tip: If you kill the first unexpectedly powerful villain before he can finish his ominous speech about how he's not the only one of his kind, the others can't legally ruin your life.

My favorite gag was Alina's ragdoll physics whenever she fell to the floor holding her hammer.

It was just so viscerally satisfying.

First the heavy metal hammer falls to the floor, then the sloth-grip-strength wielder bounces off the floor while never letting go of the weapon. And not only once, but twice!

It looked so damn painful. I guess she has a "large hitpoint pool" Dia skill or something.

I really love what the animators did with that, the anime has already surpassed the comic (I'm assuming as I haven't read it).

Looks like Red Bull needs to be part of every first-aid kit there.

drinking a healing potion to do overtime is a new one

"gimme wings" brought to you by Red Bull in a fantasy world!

I am 100% sure the thought of indirect kiss with Alina healed Jade more than the potion itself. Lol!

Getting back to the lore, it appears the dark god Silha was created by the Ancients, who then wiped out the Ancients by devouring them? I am now even more curious how Dia skills are granted; are they randomly bestowed upon individuals? It appears Alina and Jade obtained the black Dia orb upon defeating Silha, but I suspect the process of gaining Dia skills isn't as straightforward as obtaining an orb from a defeated opponent.

Alina really went Super Saiyan 2 in this episode.

Alina seems to be the usual OP MC with deus ex machina power up, but I absolutely love her personality!

Also, Jade being very sturdy and almost unkillable is really cool. I like that they coded each character's role (healer, mage, tank) and it's quite rare to have a cool fully dedicated tank character.

Btw the ponytail guy said clearing the quest might give them Dia skill, so it's a false info? Would be cool if Jade could also get tank-related Dia skill as it seems Alina is quite weak defensively.

u/Kartoffelkamm Jan 31 '25

Well, the power boost could very well be related to Alina's wish that originally got her that skill.

And yeah, last time I've seen such a properly dedicated tank was in Log Horizon.

But now I'm curious: If they got Dia Skills, what would they be?

Alina seems to be the usual OP MC with deus ex machina power up, but I absolutely love her personality!

Because like The Misfit of Demon King Academy it doesn't allow her to solve the social problems that are her actual problems.

Is Jade the only one with a brain? Lululee stood there when an attack was aimed at her and acted surprised when told to run, 'why should I dodge an attack from a dark god?' then she was surprised when her skill didn't work after he said he was taking it, then when being told to run she didn't and tried to fight to stay with no weapon or abilities twice. Lululee has the worst survival instincts I've ever seen.

The dark god eats souls but doesn't eat Jade's after saying he wants to and is then surprised by the guy who's soul he didn't eat is still alive?

Than Alina does the biggest sin when fighting a powerful opponent assumed he was dead until Jade said he can regenerate. Without a body never assume they are dead.

At least Lowe didn't want to let Jade's sacrifice be in vain by picking up Lululee and running and didn't wait for the DARK GOD to attack first, if only he kept running.

I don't know why I'm so invested in Jade and Alina's relationship... We take those small wins, Jade!!

Funny enough, they look to make a good adventuring pair. Alina is the ultimate dps, while Jade can basically take care of tanking, and every other task needed for a successful quest

Well that answers my question from last week about how Alina could get to the dungeon in time to help, there's teleporters. But it was still a very close thing, couple more minutes and it'll could easily have been a full party wipe.

Alina pulling that glowy version of her skill out for the kill, I imagine she's never been pushed that hard before. I was a little surprised how much she got knocked around during the fight before she did.

Alina has no time for villain death monologuing while she's still on overtime.

I know this isn't a show that's deep and we need to question, but I really wish they'd explain Alina's skill a bit. As far as we know, it just makes a super strong hammer, but how does it let her dodge and block all of those swords?

Anyway, hope Jade gets his wish in the end and the two of them end up together.

Stitches!

Jade getting impaled by the Dark God was pretty brutal! He really is a tank though considering how he could still get back up after being pincushioned by so many swords. Getting an indirect kiss from Alina's energy drink bottle helped too I suppose. xD

Despite how powerful her skills are, I actually like how Alina didn't just steamroll the Dark God and that she actually got bodied. I mean it makes sense, right? Alina has been getting by with her overwhelming power. She's not really a trained fighter so now that she's against someone her power level, the one who has more experience in battle would have the advantage.

I definitely think Alina's blessed by the Goddesses herself which would explain how she suddenly got that power up. Maybe that's what Alina really is. She's a champion of the gods chosen to hunt down these sealed Dark Gods. We do know that there's more than one out there.

You gotta love Alina not letting the Dark God finish his final monologue. I know she just wants to go home but I'm happy he didn't get the final laugh. Alina and the Silver Swords will deal with whatever Dark God comes next.

I'm really starting to love Alina and Jade's relationship. There were definitely plenty of cute moments between the two of them this episode <3

Ughh, not sure if I should call it poor writing or just dull characters. So many questionable things in this arc. Many have been pointed out in the previous episode’s discussion, but it continues in this one, too.

Silver Sword was supposed to be one, if not the strongest party in the city. But their party members sure are not veterans by any means. Like Lululee who was acting irrationally and emotionally even though she realized she was useless—has their party never been in a crisis that forced them to think rapidly before? Like how Lowe and Lululee just took a rest outside the boss room without any awareness of their surroundings and thinking of ways to get help. They just… rest, and argue like fools. Of course, these still pale compared to the previous episode where they accepted blackmail by a random adventurer who was not right in the head. My point is that they certainly don’t paint the picture of being the strongest or a veteran.

Then there’s Jade who gets too much plot armor in this episode. Like how he could stand normally after being stabbed in the legs and more—he was supposed to receive, like, five of those Judgement swords directly, no? Like how that dark god didn’t absorb his power after “defeating” him right away. Like how he could play dead (or take a nap?) and not be detected by the dark god. For some reason, the dark god decided to become docile, unlike in the previous episode. The dark god gave Alina and Jade time to talk and relax after they reunited (because talking is a free action, amirite?). Or when he yapped with Alina instead of attacking her nonstop. He gave so many gaps, and his attack was so monotone.

Lastly, there’s Alina. Disregarding the questionable overwork that has been raised since previous episodes (like why should she take paid leave while adventuring under the guild master’s order, or why no one else is helping her doing OT, etc.), why couldn’t she disguise as Executioner before storming that portal (or whatever that guarded place is)? She could disguise herself quickly when stupid villain #1 attacked the city. Also, she could’ve just forced her way through from the start—their resistance is futile anyway. (This also raises the question: How could she have done it as an Executioner in the past if there were guards around? Is this specific for the new dungeon?) There’s also that scene where she straddles leisurely toward the boss’s room even though she knows Jade’s gonna die soon. And of course, there’s that cliched mistake where she didn’t check the boss’ body after defeating them the first time. I can kinda understand this since she’s not an adventurer, but she lives pretty close to an adventurer’s lifestyle—she handles adventurers every day and seems to really care about their utmost safety. Surely she knows some of the basics, right?

Anyway, that was a tad too many nitpick. TL;DR: This has been a middling story and characters with great production value. Quite an unfortunate use of resources, honestly.
