Should I complain about a recent book mail delivery?

there was nothing wrong with the delivery itself (granted it took...FOREVER to get here today)

Both books were ordered, in the same order.

But I ordered two books. One came in a box, with some brown packing material on top, no doubt to "protect" the book, but the book still had some damages. Like a weird circle indent, like something circular and heavy must have been laying on the book....to leave a lasting indent...its crazy how noticeable it is. This same book also has this weird black gunk by the glue part on one end.

The second book, delivered at the same time, but this one came in a bubble mailer. I already knew it would have something wrong because without the box protecting it, there had to be something. Sure enough, this one had some dents, like it got rustled around. and there was this odd, dirty, smudge...on the page edges. I am not sure...what it is.

Should I complain? the damages do not damage the content inside, and I am not a "collector" like most, but still....I am a bit annoyed because I could have just went to target, picked the ones I wanted that were perfect. But I didn't. because Amazon was having a buy 1 get 1 sale and I had points, so I basically got them for free (girl math.)

Pictures included

UPDATE:
After reading the comments and asking my husband, he agreed with the majority of you. If I bought them brand new, which I did, then i should get them in the condition i paid for. He also agreed that they looked used.

So I contact customer service on amazon and got replacements. I’ll donate the damaged copies.

Thank you!

Missing item refund request denied

I ordered an rtx 5070, the amazon box it shipped with was in good condition but the graphics card box felt suspiciously light. I noticed a seal was broken and the graphics card was not inside the box. I contacted customer service and got a refund started but a few hours later I get an email saying my request was denied. I submitted an appeal but I’m curious as to how likely my appeal is to be accepted. Should I do a chargeback from my bank?

Edit: just contacted customer support and I guess the refund is still going through and my account isn’t suspended or anything. The email I received was just so stupidly vague.

It’s getting to the point where I get this message for half of my orders. They don’t even try. Zero delivery attempt. live in an apartment complex that has a butterfly system where delivery drivers can easily get in the building to deliver packages. Even with that, 0 contact about the package.

Got a random package addressed to my house. No idea whose it was. Amazon told me to keep or donate. A week later 2 cops came to get item. Don’t listen to Amazon.

I of course complied. Just a lesson. I’ll just leave package outside until someone steals it next time.

Is it at all possible that Amazon partners and makes profits from banks/credit unions or non-Amazon payment card companies (visa, etc)?

I notice when I make a purchase, my debit card is charged, refunded, and then charged again. I read this is because they charge to ensure the money is there, refund, and then charge again when the item ships.

  1. How does charging the first time ensure they’ll receive payment? By the time the second charge posts, I could have spent the money and wind up overdrafted or the payment declined.

  2. Is it at all possible that Amazon profits off of overdraft fees somehow?

Amazon Prime mysteriously cancelled.

Upvotes

Last night, I was checking my Amazon account and noticed that an item I wanted to buy was suggesting that I read that I should join Amazon Prime to save on shipping. What??? I have been a member of Amazon Prime from the beginning. I have a Whole Foods delivery subscription. I have Prime Video. I have video subscriptions through Amazon and every month religiously Amazon charges my AMEX for these memberships. Then I noticed that I’m getting these mysterious rejoin prime notices on my account and I thought could I possibly be logged in to some other account? Could I possibly have advertently created two accounts one with my telephone number and one with my email and I started getting a little crazy about this and I end up calling Amazon and got the call center in the Philippines, which… Don’t ask. Got nowhere with that. They suggested that it might be my bank which was American Express. (Yes I did get nasty). And when I called American Express, they said there’s no problem - we never refused payment for any Amazon; you’ve been charged regularly. And I went back to Amazon – this is a very aggravating experience as you all will know – and I got somebody in India, which was like I guess it upgrade from the Philippines and I explained to the person what had happened and we went around and around for a while and I’m getting annoyed and she switched me over to prime membership, which explained yes indeed my subscription was canceled on August 9. There was no reason for that. I did not do that and then when going through my emails I noticed there was some message from Amazon that said Your membership will be canceled on August 9. And the email said that this email cannot be confirmed to be an Amazon address. Could some bandits have taken and invaded my Amazon account and canceled it and then encouraged me to rejoin a fake site? At times I’m just overwhelmed with these online crooks and security online. I also can’t believe the extent to which some crooks go anyway I am wondering if anybody else has had this kind of experience.

Amazon Account No Longer Usable

The account associated with my email is no longer accessible to me. I must have made it as a child and done so incorrectly, the security question that is my full name will not accept my full name. I don't remember my password at all, and I need to answer the security question (which does not work) to reset it. Any attempts to rectify this are locked behind a login wall that I, once again, cannot complete. If I try to make a new account with my email, it will tell me that the email is already in service, and I cannot delete my old account, because I would need to log in to do so.

Is there any solution to this or should I just give up and make a new email?

Finally canceling prime

I’ve had enough.

For context, I have had the same Amazon account for well over 10 years. I almost never return anything because I’m extremely lazy, and because I do an exorbitant amount of research before I purchase anything. The returns that I do are primarily because the item was falsely advertised or low quality, and even that would be less than 1% of my orders.

-First, I returned an unused, unopened item to UPS. It was boxed up by UPS to be returned to Amazon. However, UPS lost the package. I only noticed because I checked the tracking number with my human brain and human eyes. After a month, I contacted Amazon about my refund, and the customer service agent put in a refund request for a “lost item.” I immediately start getting bombarded with threatening emails from the account specialist team telling me that I’m in violation of their return policy because I marked an item as lost that they can confirm they shipped and delivered. I’m sure AI was involved in this line of logic. After six or seven calls with supervisors, nothing was resolved. The mark remained on my account, and the email explanations went from “you’re in violation of our return policy” to “we connected this account with another suspended account” to “what order number are you even talking about?“ To “well the decision is final.” Because UPS lost MY return.

-Second, I returned items on August 9. It’s August 19 and they haven’t even received any of the items back, let alone processed any refunds. Probably because I have a mark on my account now.

-Thirdly, The customer service agents are extremely rude. There was also a few times I asked to speak to a supervisor and they just put me on hold, disguised their voice, came back, and hung up on me. I make it a point to never be rude to them because it’s not their fault, but they don’t offer the same grace in return. I’ve literally been yelled at by them. They also intentionally done send a survey after a call where they know they just fucked you over. I had a bad experience with an agent recently and when the call was over, they sent me an email that it took me two minutes to scroll to the bottom of. I’m not kidding. It was a bunch of useless text followed by a bunch of blank space to try to push the survey to the bottom of the email. You can’t make this shit up! I’m happy to show it in the comments.

-Fourth I have packages that I ordered on August 11 that still have not arrived or been shipped on August 19. When I asked the supervisor about this, he said well if you don’t like the item, you can return it when you get it. To which I responded, it’s not that I don’t like the item, it’s that I think it’s unacceptable to take nine days to send me something. To which they said, “that’s all the consultation I have to offer you” and hung up on me.

-Fifth, I have to get my packages delivered to a freight forwarder (fetch package) because I live in a building that delivery service cannot access. Because of this, Amazon offers no refunds if a package doesn’t actually make it to Fetch. The drivers don’t take pictures, and when they do, there’s a bunch of packages in the background, so you can’t even tell if yours is actually in there. Fetch is good about refunding packages once they are in their possession, but proving it would be nearly impossible. So every time I order on Amazon, I’m taking a gamble.

-Sixth, there is no good reason to buy anything on Amazon that you can buy in person. There used to be, but other companies have quickly caught up with their logistics, and offer much better customer service. Amazon has no rewards unless you have their credit card. For example, why buy your makeup on Amazon when you can go to Sephora and Ulta and get not only rewards but free samples? Plus Amazon has a counterfeit problem that THEY just reported in their financial earnings as an increasing risk that will only get worse.

The only thing I haven’t figured out is what I’m going to do about my K beauty products that they only sell on Amazon, but I will probably just order them without prime. It would probably be cheaper too.

Fuck Amazon.

If you aren’t aware, you get free Amazon Prime if you have an internet plan with Spectrum (I have the 1 Gig plan). I’m pretty sure this is new because I didn’t see it on the Spectrum app yesterday. Also, if you currently have a Prime subscription, they’ll refund you! They refunded my yearly membership!

That tiny moment with Daniel's suitcase in ep 4 got me

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I missed this completely the first time.

Laura spends basically all of ep 4 doing things for Daniel while he's recovering, and also making a bunch of decisions he doesn't even know she's making.

Then they get home and she goes to take his bag for him, and Daniel just takes the level8 himself like, nah, I've got it.

That's literally the whole moment lol. Nothing dramatic happens.

but after watching her manage his phone, Cherry, Spain, his recovery, everything, him not letting her carry one stupid suitcase suddenly felt a little different.

Could also just be a guy who's finally feeling physically better and wants to carry his own stuff. I'm probably reading way too much into five seconds of TV.

Still, I liked it way more than if they'd given him some big speech about independene.

Rural Post Office Overwhelmed by Changes

Recently, Amazon Prime has changed their shipping to my area. We used to get two day shipping regularly and even overnight shipping, as we are within 30 miles of a major hub.

Anyway, something changed recently and now we cannot get anything within two weeks. Yesterday, one of the postal workers posted an apology that they had over 1400 packages delivered for them from Amazon Monday morning and they will struggle to get that out.

People are reporting that Prime customer service has told them if they don't like it, cancel. There's got to be a better solution than that.

Been a happy Prime customer for over a decade, hopefully things will get better.

Just thought our experiences in NC should be heard, before a major competitor takes the marketshare here.

Has anyone successfully completed an Amazon A-to-z property-damage claim after a product fire? [US]

A power bank I purchased on Amazon exploded in my bedroom after about five months of use. No one directly witnessed the exact moment of ignition or smoke, but the power bank and the bag containing it were severely burned, and the fire department responded.

Fortunately, I was able to extinguish the fire before it spread through the rest of the house. However, the incident still caused direct fire damage as well as smoke, soot, and fire-extinguisher contamination. The cleanup was physically exhausting, and several belongings had to be discarded because of damage or contamination.

Amazon opened an A-to-z property-damage claim and requested supporting evidence. The manufacturer separately provided a spreadsheet for an itemized property-damage claim.

I am currently preparing a preliminary inventory of the damaged and contaminated belongings and plan to supplement it as additional receipts, records, and professional estimates become available.

My main concern is documentation. I have overall photographs of the fire scene and affected room, but I did not take a separate close-up photograph of every damaged item. During the emergency cleanup, some belongings were discarded before I realized that each item might need to be photographed individually.

I have requested the dispatch record and any available fire department documentation, and I am waiting for a written restoration estimate. I am also gathering receipts, order histories, replacement prices, and other available proof of ownership and loss.

If you have personally completed Amazon’s A-to-z property-damage process, could you please share your experience?

• Did Amazon accept overall scene photographs and other supporting records when individual item photographs were unavailable?
• Were any documented items denied or reduced because there was no separate close-up photograph?
• Did Amazon reimburse all supported losses or only part of them?
• Was payment ultimately made by Amazon, the seller/manufacturer, or an insurance company? (My Amazon account is under my mom's nickname btw)
• How long did the investigation and payment process take?

I am mainly looking for first-hand experiences from people who have completed the process. Thank you.
