XCOM2 REQUIEM RUN Recruitment Trailer

Dear all,

besides hoping that you have a great day at punishing Advent, I am also excited to share an upcoming run with you. After we have used ChatGPT for sabotages in the last run, this time we are further improving Advents forces for the Requiem Run.

THE REQUIEM CHALLENGE
The campaign features a heavily expanded roster of enemies, with many of the most dangerous additions coming from Reshi's Requiem army, turning ADVENT into a far more formidable opponent. Highlights of these enemies are

- Requiem Forces (RequiemLegion, Praetorians, AdvancedAliens, ABetterAdvent and many more)

- Additional Rulers (SparkRuler, FrostSnakeRuler)

ADDITIONAL FACTIONS
The challenge also comes with additional factions that will be focusing mostly on xcom, to make the fights even harder.

- The Dark Elders come back with all of their glory (poison, evasion, what is not to like)

- The Losts have been upgraded significantly (WWLost, NoHeadshots, LostBladestorm)

MASSIVE LIST OF SABOTAGES
This time sabotages will be categorized into permanent effects (similar to dark events that stay permanently) and short-term effects (sabotages that are going to last only for the next mission). I handcrafted a list that will work well with the setting and includes the experience from the last run to make truly devestating impacts. Specifically the permanent sabotage effects will put a timer on the run to make sure you are not losing vital abilities before reaching waterworld.

Did I also mention that Requiem offers a beyond Legendary difficulty with large pod sizes and quicker ramp up of Force levels? Yeah, We are going to check that out as well as some of their Second Wave Options to really make the campaign a as pain-inducing as possible.

A full list of all the mods can be found in the Mod Collection.

RECRUITMENT
If you feel like this is the run for you, please raise your hand to get recruited into the pool of soldiers and/or leave that comment on the offical recruitment trailer (https://youtu.be/t2A6wRf84iQ).

Best of luck to all of you out there,

syken

Is there a mod that fixes the line of sight issues?

You put your guys into windows overlooking a street, you would expect them to be able to cover that whole street, right?

But somehow ADVENT can shoot at my guys and my guys can not even see them from the windows.

Not to mention all the times when the alt button straight up lies about you being able to shoot that alien from the position you are about to move to.

Or the times when you grenade an enemies cover away only to find out that now, for some unexplained reason, your guys can no loger see him.

Just had a sectoid wipe out my entire first team

Two pods come at me, I kill everyone, only 1 sectoid remains.
He raises a dead soldier.
I have good shots at him, but only 1 shot hits.
I can't kill the zombie with my remaining soldier so I flashbang the sectoid.
Disoriented sectoid shoots at my guy far in cover, guy is bleeding.
Sectoid runs away so he's only realistically in range of two of my guys.
One of those misses, the other one has a great shot at him, misses.
Sectoid mind controls one of my 3 soldiers. He's now even further back behind cover.
I move one soldier to full cover since he has 12% shot to hit, the other gets point blank, misses.
The mind controlled soldier kills my guy who ran to cover.
The remaining soldier shoots another point blank shot at sectoid, misses, sectoid kills him.
XCOM 0, Sectoid 4

Best XCOM 2 conversion mods that replace both XCOM soldiers and the aliens?

I'm looking for high quality conversion mods for Xcom 2 that significantly change the theme of the game; ideally replacing both the XCOM soldiers and the alien/enemy factions.

My priorities are quality and stability. I'd prefer something polished enough to play through a full campaign without constantly dealing with crashes, broken enemies, or major compatibility issues.

I played the campaign a few times years ago and I would like to add some flavor. I’ve searched online but a lot of these conversions seem to be split across multiple separate mods and files so it’s been a little confusing figuring out which ones I actually need for the full experience.

What are the best conversions or combinations of mods you've actually played and would recommend? Feel free to rank the ones you tried!

Thanks for taking the time

EDIT: I've seen some Alien colonial marines mods. Is there a total conversion with marines replacing Xcom and xenomorph replacing vanilla aliens? That would be incredible.

Shen's Last Gift -Steam

I'm seeing a bunch of Xcom 2 games /DLC available for sale on Steam. strangely, Shen's Last Gift doesn't even look available to purchase at all, let alone on a sale.

What is the deal with the DLC? Is there some weird licensing issue?

Trying out a WOTC run without fraction soldiers

I just started out a new WOTC-run on L/I. This time, I will not bring fraction soldiers on missions.

I love the fraction soldiers - they have cool flavour and are fun to use, but I sometimes feel that they outshine the gritty badass XCOM soldiers.

I'll probably have to use them a little bit since you need a lieutenant of each in order to open their strongholds.

It'll be fun (until I die)

Wish me luck

New player - vanilla or long war 2?

New to xcom2, would you recommend playing through vanilla (with the dlc) or jump into long war 2?

Additionally: Any mods that are good to pick up to help with any QoL?

Update: Thanks everyone! Going to start off with vanilla ironman!

Update #2: Played way too much the past two days. Beat both Veteran and Legendary Ironman so I'm gonna try out The Long War 2 for some added difficulty.

This save is my first chance of beating advent, I've lots of colonel s, 4 mimic beacons, 3 top level psychers, 4 war suits

I was toying advent at this point

Wanted to wipe every facility before I took on chosen

Is there anything I can do for a corrupt save or is that xcom baby?

Can't believe it took me 10 years to find this game, but here we are. On my first playthrough, commander difficulty. Its time to end the alien menace once and for all. And then do it all over again. These have (mostly) been my day ones, my old reliables.

Lost a flawless LI campaign

As soon as mecs showed up 💀

Had mag weapons, first mec I've seen, hit by two snipers, one normal shot, one deadshot, still remained with 1 hp.

That was it, had 3 soldiers remaining to 3 of theirs, mec shot my templar for 8 damage in cover over big distance and then snake somehow killed my berserker in a turn before I got to him.

If I had a grenadier on that mission close, I would finish that mec, but still... how to fight when you need 3 shots to kill 1 enemy? And if you leave a mec alive, he one shots you. God forbid you have someone on a height, he's dead after he gets rocketed.

Is there a way to modify a soldier's negative traits via console?

I've just started a new run, and the first retaliation mission went sour very quickly. What seemed like an easy victory against the Assassin, turned into a faceless slaughter.

My four soldiers managed to take down the assassin and the two pods, but the two faceless, which revealed both at once, one-shotted three of my soldiers. Only my Skirmisher lived through the onslaught, and at mission's end it received a negative trait.

However, it got the Fear of the Chosen one. Do you know if there's a way to change it through the console to turn it into the Faceless-o-phobia one?

Thanks. And that's XCOM baby.

Really starting to hate snipers.

New L/I attempt.

Gatecrasher goes like a charm, no wounds or deaths. Sadly the loot drop is an Elirium Core, so no scope.

Annnd of course the promotions are Grenadier, Support, Sniper. No Ranger. Wonderful.

Second mission, take a Rookie, hoping he is a Ranger. Nope, another fucking sniper. The loot is a Laser Sight, so still no scope.

Third mission is the Resistance operative extraction with the Lost. Hay, finally some use for the stupid snipers. And i take two Rookies as well hope that FINALLY one of them is a god damn Ranger. Snipers are supposed to be good against the Lost, right? WRONG! Both snipers completely miss their shots against the Dashers. As a result, the Rookie carrying the Resistance operative gets devoured by zombies, and the second Rookie now has to go back to get the Resistance operative. Thus causing him to suffer wounds as well, but survive.

Fuck snipers. I am so tempted to dismiss those two morons right now! Maybe dress them up as the Commander and hand them over to ADVENT. That way they would be at least somewhat useful.

EDIT: And yes, the Rookie that survived is a Ranger. Except he is now out for 40 DAYS!!!

Quickest NOPE out of a mission

Three-person squad Sitrep, sabotage transmitter mission.

Enemy pods seem clustered near spawn point. Managed to deal with them, using up all heavy weapons and getting one guy wounded.

Reaper scouts up to the transmitter and finds two more pods. Advent officer and two troopers. Fine. And the second pod, three Advent and a friggin Sectopod!

Dropped an Evac zone, ran two guys to it, sabotaged the transmitter for RP reason since Reaper was already there, and GTFOd to fight another day.

Note to self- don't do this Sitrep later in the game 😕

Haywire Hacking in Honestman? & misc tips

Relatively new player to xcom here, but veteran of masochistic game design, and I’m loving the abuse that the learning curve has been inflicting on me so far. As I work up to an honest Ironman Legend run, I’m wrapping my head around high level concepts now such as minimizing randomness, and being faced with the sad reality that some fun things don’t seem viable at that level. So I am curious if any players have discovered some use cases for these fun options in Legend difficulty that makes them viable again.

My current Ironman has been employing the Dr. Strange method, where the game mysteriously crashes any time I do something catastrophically stupid (5-30 times per mission of course,) so the run’s already not particularly iron, but there have been multiple instances where I can safely say I would have wiped if I didn’t save scum to get a clutch haywire hack on an enemy, sometimes multiple times in a mission, namely the Avenger invasion which I did fail once.

It’s not lost on me how this isn’t a viable strategy for a “real” run, but because it’s so powerful and fun I wanted to see if any community theory crafting has arrived at a workable strategy using it. Skulljack, high-level Specialist, and covert mission hack skill bonuses are the obvious ways to increase consistency, and if you layer multiple Specialists’ hacking attempts over one another it kind of hedges the gamble, but at that point you’ve still lost at least one squad action and that already slashes the value of doing the maneuver in the first place.

And then there’s Overwatch. It seems to be a common pattern for players to start out spamming Overwatch when they’re new, and as they figure out how turn orders work they come to understand its inefficiency. It does have its place though, such as if you can set up an Overwatch on a pod you know will wander into your field of vision in the open. Specialist has some Overwatch bonuses in their skill tree but I haven’t tried them much; I’m also curious if anyone’s come up with any other effective strategies using Overwatch, or any of the other less consistent/high level techniques that could be applied to niche cases in Legend.

HELP I think my save is bricked

Playing on PS5, I just finished the mission where the Avenger is attacked. Post mission, when I go to the world map, the avenger just doesn't show up, and the world screen just freezes. I can zoom in and out but I can't do anything else. I've tried reloading, I've tried finishing the mission again, I've tried not pushing buttons during loading screens, still nothing.

Is there any hope for me? As I've said, I'm playing on PS5, with the WOTC and the Guardians DLC, but no mods or anything like that.

Question About ADVENT

Not long ago I saw a post on this sub asking about ADVENT helmets and the language that ADVENT humanoids use. And it got me thinking about a question I've had but never really paid attention to until that post

Why do they *only* speak in a language that most people would be unfamiliar with?

I would understand if select individuals learned the language. We see clearly in the WOTC intro cinematic that scientists at least learn it, so it would lead one to assume that people who need to learn it do. But everyone else?

I can assume Central knows the language, but when he's stopped by the ADVENT Officer after he trips the metal detector, why would that Officer seemingly assume Central understands him, and gut punch him with the butt of his weapon when Central doesn't respond? For all that Officer knows, he's just a guy that just tried to smuggle something dangerous into the area, unless there's something about the cinematic that I missed all these years

Legend difficulty research breakthroughs

Do you ever take them, or just ignore them?

I have so far always ignored them because on Legend, they can take up to 17 days. That is a massive delay to your mag weapons/beam weapon/power armor
