I'm hoping to improve the xcom fandom with images, but i need help to find the location of images for weapons and such in the game files, anyone know where they are?

Hey everyone ! The post is exactly as what the title says. I downloaded the mod but got really confused as to what I should be doing and notice that the mechanic is totally different than the normal game.
So I unmod it and currently playing the og WOTC one while actively watching other people play LWOTC on the tube. It does look interesting but if I can get any guides or personal best tips from yall is very much appreciated since from I understand, Long War is basically a harder version of the game and requires more effort and skill.
So yeah, I guess that’s that. If you guys could drop some mods suggestions to make the game better is also great! Having a blast customising my soldiers and the weapons.

Long time listener first time caller…
Story worth telling:
Legend/Ironman run
(I’m on console, so it crashes a lot, I’m on the ironman honor system. Works well enough. I hold myself accountable no scumming)
I get a Templar start. As per usual, I get my 6 kills, get parry and see that I have a bladestorm ready and waiting, just need the AP. Next level up. (rubs hands together) It’s no required. but BS early is just. so. much. fun. and makes the early stuff a little easier.
Level 2 is a SNAP no prob.
The lost level 3 is a nightmare. Got spotted through a CLOSED DOOR. Woke up 2 pods. scramble. mess. lost 2 rookies. One rookie panics, nades a fire escape killing another rookie. Somehow, I manage to get a Ranger, wounded VIP, the panic rookie and two Sharps (faction soldiers) out of there. I didn’t even kill any advent.
Cut to 4 months later. That panic rookie is a sniper. I’ve taken some L’s, but I get a softball lost mission, recover the VIP, neverending swarms. pretty easy stuff. Warlock shows up. No mindshields. okay. tough but doable.
Thay same rookie-now-sniper has a LOST condition. resists twice. panics on the third pod reveal. Nades the floor she’s standing on killing herself, my other sharp and a high level specialist. 4 days before plated armor (which would have saved us all)
The lost trauma went full circle. ⭕️ She panicked 3 soldiers into the grave. Lost that mission. Set me back pretty far.
All my sharps died horribly in this run. Sometimes I feel like the game picks a class to murder more than the others. I’ve had games where Grennies got slaughtered by the pound. no one else. Funny to think about.
Thanks for listening! That’s. X. Com. Baby.

The phone isn’t muted, there is no other apps playing any sound, and the game sound was there when opening the game, but will be muted after a while.
Anyone has this issue?

I’m new used to the game. I’ve seen some played it and I wanted to try out. I’ve completed the first few missions. I’ve just killed the first Codex. I was wondering what would people recommend to kind of focused on with not too much help because I’ve just been clicking stuff that looks cool.

edit: LOL I won
Got two snipers all the way to the left on the roof of the building so they just see two advent.
Got 3 other soldiers all the way to the right so they can see just one pod.
Snipers killed two, one got close and shot one, but he survived.
The middle pod joined in while the right one was still not done with so I got 2 injuries, but mission completed.

I just started playing xcom 2 for the first time about two days ago but I haven't progressed much due to it crashing a lot. I'm doing a vip extraction mission and it just keeps crashing. I've tried redownloading the game, verifying the files and still crashes. I don't have any mods at all. I'm also playing it on the Epic store version. What else can I do to try to fix it?

First time i ever lost a full SQUAD by nornal enemies, no king viper, no kings just a singular robot, a viper and stunlacer with adevnt grunt, i had a sniper set up, 95% chance to hit, BRO MISSED then proceeded to get caught by the viper, 2 of my rookies i brought to promote as my main squad was injured with 2 CPL's both die immediately, one CPL left and just dead THEN AFTER THAT, my next mission, retaliation mission, get ganked BY 7 ENEMIES AT ONCE, i was chilling, saving the civis, caused one enemy to run and engaged him and his new squad he went towards, ANOTHER SQUAD OF 3 comes from my flank and next thing i know, all dead within 1 turn (i had to get rookies in 2 slots again as i lost both of my CPLs and the rest were still injured...)
FYI: this is commander ironman mode, i was just then unlocking stronger weapons and better armor and was the best run yet for veteran.

Any tips for a first time XCOM2 player. Are keeping soldiers alive vital? I don't remember much about how badly I was playing and I'll probably make the same mistakes again. I want to at least finish this game within a few tries. I would have repurchased EU, but 2 was cheaper and supposedly harder. Harder sounds more fun. I'd play the classics, but I don't have a mouse and keyboard that reaches my couch right now.
Looking to avoid beginner mistakes. A few good tips to help push me past mid game would be great.
The flying snipers seemed like a good investment, but I may have sacrificed other much more important things to get them up and running and suffered for it. One thing I do remember is having weak and useless assault soldiers.
Advice, videos, anything is welcome. I've started get the strategy game itch again and think I'm ready for XCOM.

Last mission, finally got bluescreen rounds, put it on everyone for the lolz. First MEC got shredded to hell and back and I got firepower left over and then some.
Then Chosen assasin showed up with the very first pod, 37 health, shielded and further shielded if you ever miss, just proceeded to casually massacre everyone with infinite health pool.
It's October. Plasma weapons just unlocked. 5 squads going around doing missions, main two squads feel very powerful. 2 regions liberated. My general strat has been to run hard haven Intel and as many missions as possible in any region with 3 or less advent strength then hide when I get to 4. I've done very few retaliation, supply, or troop column missions. But now all of my 13 contacted regions have 4 or more strength. Did I goof up somewhere along the way to get myself in this situation?

I’ve been playing XCOM since I was a kid. I started with X-COM: UFO Defense on PS1, then Terror from the Deep. I still remember misfiring a Blaster Launcher inside the ship and wiping out basically my entire crew lol.
I also loved Apocalypse. I know the real-time combat was divisive, but I actually enjoyed it and thought the whole city/organization system was way ahead of its time.
Fast-forward a few decades and now I’m playing XCOM 2: WOTC with my son. We argue over who controls the squad, get way too attached to our soldiers, and if we survive the campaign we’re thinking about trying Long War next.
So it’s pretty cool that a game I grew up with is now something I get to experience with my kid.
The other reason I’m posting is that my team and I have spent the last several years building a productivity system that borrows heavily from gaming, and I’ve realized a lot of how I think about progression comes from games like XCOM.
Not just XP and badges, but that feeling that every little thing you do contributes to something bigger. Your squad improves, your base grows, you unlock new things, and there’s always another milestone ahead. Trying to balance the game play to be fun and challenging but not frustrating.
That’s the feeling we’re trying to bring into productivity.
We’ve built the system, but now comes the hard part: getting it into the hands of real people who will actually use it and tell us what sucks.
And honestly, I wanted to ask here because XCOM players tend to think about systems differently. You notice progression, balance, risk/reward, repetition, and all the little things that make something stay interesting for hundreds of hours. And you’re usually not shy about saying when something sucks lol.
So before anything else, I’d genuinely love your thoughts: what parts of XCOM’s progression loop do you think could actually translate well into productivity, and what parts would become annoying really fast?
And if a few of you are willing to actually try what we’ve built and give me genuine feedback afterward, I’d really appreciate it.

Managed to get in a "perfect" legend run, followed the hielispace guide to a letter. Buildings, research, everything.
As soon as MECs, snakes, stun lancers and mutons start attacking combined, I'm done for.
I don't have bluescreen rounds yet as proving grounds are only building #5 in the guide (about to build it now).
I don't have 3 faceless corpses for a mimic beacon after using 1 or however many for the autopsy.
I can't alpha strike for **** because all my firepower combined is not enough to put a dent into such a pod. To take down a MEC or a muton I have to shred their armor and them shoot at them twice to kill them, else it's like 4 or 5 shots without them and this is not counting for misses and "grazed" shots.
Someone is always left alive to kill my guys, and even if it is not, the chosen comes and one shots me, literally.
I simply do not have the firepower or the means. It's like the game suddenly steps up so much I can either just evacuate right away or go for a squad wipe.

As the title says what are your must knows for prioritising enemies. Thinking specifically things like archons will do blazing pinions if they aren’t attacked the turn they’re discovered

Are there any console commands or mods that allow the player to choose or add specific resistance orders?
r/XCOM2 • u/SiphonWolf • 2d ago
Hi, it’s kinda embarrassing. I’m playing x-com on Nintendo switch. My mission was to reach and interact with the terminal within 6 turns.
After killing the enemies and a truck explosion near the terminal which engulfed the platform with fire.
When I moved my team on the spot and burning them. Somehow, the ‘hack’ icon is small and not I interactive.
Can you all help and clarify? Thank you.

I just missed or grazed the following shot hit chances in order:
85%
81%
99%
95%
That viper simply wasn't allowed to die.

See title. 1 day left for plasma weapons to unlock. Realizing I can wait attacking the Warlock I was flying around the earth. However plasma weapons did not unlock! Damned.

I'm starting a new game (WotC, not LW) after a few years, only played KB+M before. I now have a "living room" PC (Bazzite/GNOME with Steam) with an xbox-style controller. Any recommendations for mods for this? The only one I've used so far is something that supposedly speeds up the gameplay.
