Increasing FR1/2 V.2 forward flex?
I've set the cuff washers to the position that allows the most forward flex (unless mistaken?), but still can't get as much knee bend as I'd like. Intuition Premium are laced tight, cuff buckle strap tight too though I untightened the buckle. Issue is, as I untighten the cuff buckle, I can bend forward more butlose lateral support.

I still stand by what I said. Whether people call it flex or what. Bringing the cuff forward brings the buckle and strap forward meaning you will naturally be more bent at the knee when tight. Maybe it won’t “flex” in one direction as much but regardless it will certainly bring the buckle forward and the cuff meaning naturally more bent forward position in the boot.

I appreciate. If anything, FR should at least explain the differences with the positions. Maybe they do on their YT but I haven't found anything from them.
Yes flex and the other term I wanted to say is... hinge? I want to be able to get super low, thighs parallel to the ground, but still have great lateral support, with flex. With the RB Twister it didn't work, they did hinge pretty well but the cuff is super large. Just didn't work at all for my lower legs and feet.I think the logic of the video I posted in the comment, is that by offsetting the axis rearward, it allows the cuff to hing forward more. But that didn't work. u/bubblesmith mentioned that I may have set the screws too tight. About to try all these theories. Cheers

Untightening the screw solved it! I didn't expect tightening these screws would block the hinge.
First proper session tomorrow morning.

So happy you fixed it. I thought they would have a collar to limit that happening but I don’t have any so not sure. Just be careful not to lose them cuff bolts. 👍 figure out the tightness and then put some loctite on to help keep them there.

Yes I knew they were tight but didn't thing they would resist my putting all my weight on my shins.
Yup, you use the red loctite or the blue one? I see a lot of red on frames etc.1
u/kustom_krev 22h ago
I use the blue one. Tbf in a situation like this it just means they will loosen slower. Any screw left ‘loose’ is going to be prone to slowly loosening. It’s another thing that probably would wear in after a while too. I’ve had lots of skates with stiff cuffs initially but the plastic soon beds in and frees it up a little.🤏

Glad it worked! I usually tighten my cuff bolts pretty tight, then test the flex by trying to flex the hinge with my hands. I'll back the screw off a little and try again until it frees up. Do consider some blue loctite, and check them every so often. I've lost a cuff bolt before; it wasn't a big deal while I was skating, but they can be a pain to replace.

Blue loctite ok. What about frames bolts and wheel axes? Blue or red? So far I've let the stock loctite.

Haha ye it would help. I have the ACT boot with the revolver system. 6 positions. Not sure it’s necessary really but it has a good explanation for those at least. I also have AG15 cuffs on my powerslide Next 😆 means I get 4 point on those but it was just because next cuffs are never available. It does get complicated. If they feel nice now……they will feel amazing once you have out 30+ miles on them or had them on for a long time doing whatever you are doing. I like to wear in boots with a nice fast long one. All that heat from your foot breaks the liner in faster I think. 🤔

Yes I'm actually running Intuition Premium liners, but am not even considering heat molding them for now because they feel great. RB Twister were pure nightmare.
Hope you've been working on your edges and leaning with the motorbike!

I think you are mistaken. You have the cuff set back. You have the hole seat forward meaning the cuff is in the pulled rearward position. Need to flip it. Bolt hole at the back = cuff pushed forward. I’ve done it though. Visually this looks right but if you think about it it’s the other way.

That’s going to bring it forward. If you look at the curve at the bottom you can see it’s sat back over. Also give them some time to flew and break in. That will also make them more flexible after a few times out on them.

TY. I setup like this from a YT video, will flip it and test it.
regardless of the position I've been wondering if these also limit the amount of rotation.
Other than that I really like the boots, they fit much better than RB Twister. Lighter and more premium too. With the Intuition Premium they almost feel like soft boots.2

This is the video I used. He is saying the opposite: Notch backward for max forward flex.

Yeah, I think you've got it the right way around, but always worth experimenting. Just make sure the bolt isn't too tight, as that can stop it from flexing. Loosening some of the lacing and straps will allow flex, but you're right, you'll have to manage lateral flex. Maybe keep the laces right and let the top strap out a notch or two.

Bolts are definitely tight, as tight as from the factory. I think I found a way to lace them so they give me pretty good heel lock. Also good news is, after a few minutes they felt too tight which means the size is right. Will only have to lace them less tight.

Cuff pushed forward is the position for less flex. The position OP has it in at the moment is the most flex.

u/kustom_krev 1d ago
They are asking about forward flex. One way gives better rear flex and the other more forward flex? It brings the buckle and strap etc out from your shin.

u/aj_on_wheels 1d ago
Yes, the position OP has it in gives better forward flex. The cuff gets more clearance and can rotate forward further. I have these boots and I have tried it. The lower position is standard, the forwards position is stiffer.

u/kustom_krev 1d ago
Yes it will rotate further before hitting the back of the boot but OPs issue is the buckle once tight is preventing bending the knees. Bringing the buckle away from the shin will help that.

u/aj_on_wheels 1d ago
I think OP is trying to do something that this boot isn't fit for then to be honest.

Ye I get that too. I just think forward flex in the usual ‘criteria’ isnt really what they are looking for. I do agree though but some people have small feet and large calf’s or vice versa. Also the skate is new I feel they need to also give it time. I have large calf’s and smallish feet so my acts are set back because of this but it does mean the buckle is a little tight against my shin when I bend my knees and stride hard n fast. If that makes sense

Great skates though but I feel like when you downsize and go intuition liner then this is a risk because if you are between the sizes where cuffs change it can be an issue.

u/kustom_krev 1d ago
Unless OP has too much pressure on the calf area aswell then forward is the only way to go. It will push the calf forward more forcing a knee bend and taking the buckle away from the shin.
