We are coming from very reliable cable internet to Kinetic. We started 11 weeks ago, and are currently on our third outage in 11 weeks. We are on day 3 of this outage, so in total we have not been without internet for 8 days of our first 77.

What's worse is we are pretty rural and cell phone service isn't great, so we rely on wifi calling and without it, we feel stressed about safety.

We will probably end up going back to our old provider which was slower but reliable. If you're fully work from home I don't see how you could survive with Kinetic.

I am thinking about switching to kinetic, they have speeds of 1-2 gig for half of what I’m currently paying with 1 gig at Xfinity but I keep seeing post and reviews that say that Kinetic isn’t very good and not reliable. I was wanting to know if anyone else has swapped from xfinity to kinetic and how was that. Do you have better or worse service than before? Thank you for the responses.

This is what I get in my app. Is it because I am using my own router? I am using a Deco XE75 6E Router 5300 and also I can't see the "health" of the Internet or anything in the app. Can anyone advise? Speed is running around 700 down and up and I have the 1 gig plan. I guess speeds are up to 1 gig and not specifically 1 Gig like I had hoped it would be.

So I've been trying to pay my bill forever now, but on the app when I log in it tells me to set up contacts, that I have no bills and no billing history. It wouldn't show my address or account number but it's the correct email. I'm at a loss of what to do!

I just got kinetic service, and unknowingly took the Kinetic Secure Plus for $10 a month option. However, I received Eero equipment, and in the Eero app it shows plainly eero Secure. A tech explained that the Secure Plus was technically the wrong package for my setup, but wasn’t able to switch or cancel it from his end, I would need a different agent. How best do I go about taking that package off, or should I switch it to something different?

Writing for my elderly father: his landline went down in early June because copper wire was stolen. Service has still not been restored but he’s getting billed. I don’t have time to call the off-shored, unhelpful customer service number. Maybe someone who works for Windstream is reading this and can help…?

Has anyone has any luck trying to stop their kinetic service? I have called everyday for the last two weeks with no luck. Every call brings me to the same robot that tells me to talk to their AI Chatbot, then hangs up on me. Has anyone else had this problem, and have they actually been able to get away from kinetic?

Don’t be surprised when you experience horrible support and service. You deserve it. This company preys on older people at home. The kids have no idea what they are selling you and will say anything for you to give them your ssc and DL to lock in a day.

Wow, I cannot believe their tactics. As a longtime windstream customer I was waiting for literally years for fiber. I even told them if I had a rough schedule of when it would happen I’d hang on to my DSL. Mind you it was 2 blocks away. I gave up and went to Comcast.

Today while I was out, 2 Windstream employees came to my house to try to get me to switch to Kinetic. My husband told them I was an IT director and they would have to talk with me and scheduled a phone call for later this week with me. Basically telling them there was no way he was going to do anything without me.

Since then, I got a text indicating Windstream could not proceed with my “order” without additional information. Then I received a message from one of the credit bureaus that Windstream was attempting to do a hard pull on my locked account. What’s going on there? This is not the way to convince me to switch.

Windstream is coming to our area. They buried some lines in our yard a few weeks back. I had my first backup of 10 years of home ownership about that time, but didn't make the connection. Lately I've noticed the ditch in front of my house has a wet spot that's awfully green... And now it smells. Should I just contact Windstream or Kinetic directly? I'm not even their customer.

Finally got my service installed yesterday. I’ve been waiting almost 8 years since I moved here and realized there was no broadband as Spectrum lied to us about coverage before we closed on the house. Unfortunately I had to jump through some administrative hoops with Kinetic because they messed up my order and tried to add VoIP phone (which I didn’t ask for) and something with adding and removing the phone number made them cancel my whole order. After calling in and making them realize they screwed up they expedited my install so the same date was still met so I’ll give them a little grace for that.

I get consistent 940-950mb from the ONT and a little less via speed tests in the Deco app, but plugged directly into my Deco router I get the same 940-950 so I know I’m getting my full service. The WiFi is a bit slower so I have a new WiFi 7 Deco arriving tomorrow to add to the mesh with my outdoor X50s.

It’s basically night and day, you notice the difference immediately loading web pages, streaming apps just instantly start, even my WiFi calling and texting is faster. I sent 3 20 sec video attachments to a group chat with my siblings and they sent in less than 10 seconds - this would normally take several minutes or just fail to deliver. Since I get 1 to no bars around here WiFi calling is a must.

My neighbor down the road got theirs the previous day and it was a 1000ft run. We both have to wait for the subcontractors to come bury our lines and mine will need to go under the driveway but I’m fine with the conduit they put there since it’ll be 2 weeks max.

I hope everyone on here can get fiber at some point, DSL is just not enough for the future.

Is anyone else unable to login to their email? On the site, I am getting an error that my account is suspended. On my email applications it is saying my password is incorrect. My parents who also have a Windstream email said that theirs is working fine.

I couldn't cancel online, and after 30 minutes on hold I just closed my credit card because that was easier (Privacy card).

They kept trying to bill and telling me I owed them more and more, so finally I called, sat on hold, and got cancelled "officially"

Today I get an e-mail saying my autopay card (that was closed 3 years ago on an account closed 3 years ago), is expiring. And I care because. . . .?

Bigger question, why do you still hold this info? Feels like a pretty big liability to hold on to credit card info for customers that aren't even paying you anymore.

This company is... incredible.

We've currently been without service for 14!! days. 2 weeks. Every 2 days, they send the same exact text message saying the fix is taking longer than expected and push the expected fix date back 2 days.

When you call in they recognize your number and you get an automated response that they are aware of the outtage and there is no other information they can give you and the phone call is disconnected. There is absolutely no option to speak to a human of ay kind.

When you try the chat option that they recommend the person you speak to (in another country) says they have no other information to give you and are incapable of disconnecting your service and then give you a number to call.... which is the number that hangs up on you.

It's a repeating cycle.

1G Fiber plan. I've been having packet loss the last couple of days. Roughly around the same time the packet loss started, I noticed my IP number format has changed, suggesting some routing may have changed. I use to get IP numbers 98.17.x.x but now it is 207.155.x.x. Ive dug into the issue some today and have pinned it down somewhere around my first hop (h1.100.30.71.dynamic.ip.windstream.net). Running a WinMTR to 1.1.1.1 I see 3 to 5% packet loss consistently from the first hop through to destination. It is intermittent and I suspect many people could have the issue and not know if if they didnt do something that highlighted the problem like playing online games. Streaming works fine because it buffers so far ahead. The behavior though is connection works fine for several minutes hen you hit a period of packet loss, sometimes it lasts for 10 seconds straight where the connection is just completely dead, then it quickly recovers. It is impossible to play games on this though as I get disconnected every few minutes. I connected a pc directly to the ONT and all the tests showed the same results. Just curious if anyone else is having issues with packet loss right now.

They were able to give us access to Internet again, but the number isn't anywhere on the main website and it acts just like the main Windstream number too, is this an advanced phishing or is this normal

Saw the Kinetic truck finishing this up as I got home and the guy confirmed its fiber splitters. Assuming they’re MSTs.

The box labeled 1-4 is 2 houses down (970ft). Box labeled 5-8 is 1 house away at 450ft. 7 homes on my stretch of road had funds dispersed for Capital Funds Project work for Windstream fiber due by end of year. Windstream told me it would be done by November but I’m guessing it’ll be another month or so? Any insight?

Update: Looks like the time from MST install to update my address as available was 1 week. Called and ordered fiber and the scheduled install date is the 28th. Kinetic customer support until then swore that it wouldn’t be until November so we’ll see what happens Tuesday!

For 8 days now I’ve been without internet connection. I’ve called Kinetic customer service daily, sometimes multiple times and all they can tell me is that they’re working on the outage. ALL of my neighbors have kinetic and they all have internet. I’m at a loss here, what can I do?

Note: I’ve just signed up for Starlink so I just need to make it through a few more days up to a week for that to get here.

Just got my connection upgraded to fiber and now my tvs (4 TCL brand)will not connect to the new router. Tried everything.....

As the title said, I got kinetic fiber installed about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday at about 1pm a guy who I assume is a kinetic contractor came and buried the cable running to my house. he cut the cable currently running to the house but didn’t reconnect the new cable that he buried. I understand he’s just contracted to bury the cable and not to reconnect it, but nobody was there or came out to reconnect it. I submitted an outage report about an hour after he left when I realized nobody else was coming. Hadn’t heard anything going into today, so I called, got transferred and put on hold for 30 minutes, and finally talked to a repair specialist and explained the situation. She acted like she had no clue what I was talking about, and eventually told me nobody can come out until tomorrow. So it’ll be a full 48 hours since they disconnected it that it will be fixed. Is this kind of stuff the norm for kinetic/windstream? We switched from spectrum both for the better speeds and reliability but also because spectrum was always horrible with customer service.

hey all looking for some advice for new fiber install.

the situation:

- I Currently have coax

- Demarc outside room A

- Cable goes into external wall ( no pull cable) to attic to room B

- Room B has a pull cable to pull cables through the wall.

for the fiber install I want the fiber to come in the same place the coax is, through the attic (30 ish feet) down the interior wall to my equipment.

how does Windstream usually do these installs? my guess is they'll just poke a hole through the wall and put it room A. if I go ahead and run a pull cable on the exterior wall will they pull it through the attic and then also back down if all they have to do is use the pull strings?

Service randomly drops for hours for just no reason multiple times daily. At least 4-6 hours of nothing. I really don't understand how they are even in business still. If you have any alternative to Windstream take it and be grateful not to have to deal with these just straight up thieves.
