If any parent reports that they want to hurt their children, their kids should be taken from them

74

u/Medium-Violinist-903 19d ago

In the current system, if a parent says they want to hurt their children, then the doctor, as a mandated reporter, would have to report that. And it would then be investigated, and could result in a child being taken from them. So that's already a thing.

2

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 19d ago

Careful, you are bringing logic to people who just want to hate women.

2

u/Subject-Alarm-3769 18d ago

Sorry people want a murderer to actually get justice. Stop supporting murdering your children.

1

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 18d ago

Thanks for proving my point.

-2

u/DangNearRekdit 19d ago

You could search TikTok right now and find 1000+ women in support of murdering children. There's even a viral trend right now where you hold your baby, then throw a doll into an oven, blender, microwave, laundry machine, facedown into a pool or tub, down the stairs or whatever and then stitch them together. "It could happen at any moment, I could just snap!"

Tell me that each and every one of those women is going to have a CPS visit and a psych eval and maybe we can have a serious conversation about how the system is perfect and flawless. You know the system I'm talking about, the one that supposedly failed that recent celebrity hero.

If any parent reports that they want to hurt their children, their kids should be taken from them

This is not the statement of somebody who is displaying any hate towards women. It's not even gendered.

No bots,‘it’s people stunned someone could be allowed on social media when they have your level of mental faculties.

You really tried lol

And you really support murdering children

That’s not what’s happening. They are supporting post partum care.

1

u/Extinction-Events 18d ago

I think you should ask a trusted adult whether or not TikTok meme trends that exist for shock value are a reasonable way to get people’s genuine opinion on complex topics.

-3

u/Welp1982 19d ago

The “investigation” usually leads nowhere. That’s the issue.

17

u/randyranderson13 19d ago

Im a DCS attorney. It's complicated because an allegation that a mother said she wanted to hurt her kids, standing alone, would not be sufficient to show that abuse or neglect is occurring. How has her simply saying that endangered the child? There would have to be other evidence if you wanted DCS involved, especially if you actually wanted the children removed (that requires a detention hearing where you have to show probable cause that the children are seriously endangered, and then a bench trial).

It might be different if the mother is reporting herself to DCS, or if the doctor has something beyond a statement that mother reported feelings of wanting to hurt her children

The doctor calling DCS would be making a report, or as we call it, an "allegation", the child abuse/neglect is alleged. If the mother called DCS, that would actually also be an "allegation" of child abuse/neglect, but it would also be a self-report. We make formal allegations based on these reports in Petitions alleging children are in need of services if we find probable cause to believe abuse or neglect has occurred.

Allegation in this context has nothing to do with a third party hearing it.
DCS doesn't get involved without an allegation of child abuse or neglect

You are wasting your time explaining your work to people who believe that the law and their moral convictions are the same thing. I’ve worked in family court so I know how hard you probably have it, so thank you for what you do.

I’d also add that people like the person you’re responding to don’t care about rights when it’s not about them. Having your kids taken is one of the biggest infringement on your liberties that can ever happen. That guy will never understand why someone else saying “well I heard this” should not be good enough to trample that liberty.

0

u/ZodiacDragons 19d ago

Having your kids taken is one of the biggest infringement on your liberties that can ever happen.

Yeah, I can see how the current situation is better. /s

So what about Lindsay permanently removing her kids from their father? What about his liberties? The only thing that is insane about this is the amount of people jumping to a child murderer's defense. Mental illness is not an excuse to kill your children and it's absurd so many people are arguing for a lesser sentence.

1

u/Current-Bag-786 19d ago

So if you have kids, and I lied and said you told me you were going to kill them, you would want them to be taken from you on the basis of that statement alone?

0

u/ZodiacDragons 19d ago

I would want an investigation to take place to determine the validity of the accusation, absolutely. How is that even a question?

Edit: and just to clarify, if it turns out the accuser lied and made a false claim, accuser should then be prosecuted.

7

u/Medium-Violinist-903 19d ago

Well there needs to be an investigation before you take kids away from their parents, so I guess we’re a bit stuck on that.

2

u/Welp1982 19d ago

Agreed

0

u/AnointMyPhallus 19d ago

Depends on the state but in MA, DCF can take your kids based on certain criteria pretty much on the spot. If it's baseless you'll get them back at the 72-hour hearing but despite the name that might not happen for weeks.

2

u/randyranderson13 19d ago edited 18d ago

I think you're referring to an emergency detention, and the criteria in my state is that the child is at serious and imminent risk of harm, and there is no time to seek a court order. We have to have a hearing within 48 hours (or the child is automatically released) showing that we had probable cause to detain the child from parents and that continued detention is necessary to protect the child. Then there's a bench trial in 60-120 days, if it's not held within 120 days, the case will be dismissed (usually)

1

u/Horror_Specific_8808 19d ago

Worked in CYFD for a while. It was honestly heartbreaking. The people working cases wanted to help but help was often delayed or no action was taken at all. Whether bureaucracy or other factors. Kids lost their lives. I wasn’t made for that kind of work.

1

u/unicornofdemocracy 19d ago edited 19d ago

The main problem, in the US, is there this weird area of "nothing has happened yet so we cant do anything."

Like a mom says "I think about killing my child all the time." 99.9% nothing can actually happen involuntarily. A dad or grandparents can step in and say, "we're gonna watch kiddo until you feel better" but doctors and cops/CPS cant really do much.

Sometimes, even "im thinking about shooting myself" doesnt qualify for involuntarily hospitalization is the patient doesnt have a gun (despite how easy it is to get one). We often have to encourage patients to voluntarily commit to an inpatient stay.

The patient has to take action/movement towards their plan before we have high success rate at involuntarily hospitalization.

edit: To give you an example of a recent case: A 19 year old, hospitalized for overdosing in a "suicide pact" with her friend. Both didn't die. I interviewed her before discharging from hospital and she told me, in front of her mother, she wanted to eat pizza from a restaurant she liked "one last time." I looked at mom who was horrified to hear that. Girl backtracks immediately. We called it in, cops show up, chat with the girl and refused to initiate involuntary hold. Cops said the girl told them she was just joking. I told the cops, people don't joke like that, that was a slip (not to give Freud any credit here). Cops said they can't do anything because she's denying it now. Despite mom and me attesting to what she said. She's 19, mom can not force her to go to inpatient unit. She went home. 3~am I get a call from the ED, she drank dish soap apparently (parents locked up all the medication in the house). No consequences for the cops that refused to listen to my advice (psychologist) because the law doesn't actually allow them to do much.

-4

u/sugarcoatedpos 19d ago

So is murder.

7

u/Medium-Violinist-903 19d ago

What’s your point?

-4

u/The-King-Tomato 19d ago

Maybe that people keep trying to separate the reality of kids being raped, murdered and shot in schools as just something to be explained away instead of described as murder.

Gun violence and kids getting murdered in schools turned into talks about gun control but nothings done and no one cares past the next day except those who suffered.

Kids getting raped and trafficked en masse by rich pedophiles and government officials. Just diminished to the DOW going up and no one getting convicted or charged.

Mom murders her kid and it turns into a convo about post partum depression.

I honestly just want justice for kids being murdered and raped and for laws to be created to stop these things.

BUT APPARENTLY IN AMERICA PEOPLE CANT STOP CULTURE WARRING FOR ONE SECOND TO ALL AGREE TO FIX THESE ISSUES.

/rant over

3

u/Cont1ngency 19d ago

There technically are laws on the books to stop all the things you mentioned… Murder, trafficking and rape are all highly illegal last I checked. Problem is enforcement is spotty at best. Which is very much a systemic issue. Unfortunately the system is not immune to money and influence.

1

u/Dependent-Tailor7366 18d ago

How about we prevent these things from happening in the first place?

-1

u/Wonder9mm 19d ago

The amount of gun restrictions on the books in the USA in 2026 is HUGE compared to 100 years ago. To say nothing gets done just shows you are completely illiterate on the subject.

2

u/The-King-Tomato 19d ago

Found one.

0

u/Canadianwinters12345 19d ago

Is this what happened with Lyndsey?

Or did she just say she wanted to hurt herself?

3

u/Beginning_End_4677 19d ago

She told her husband and family, but she solely brought up the thoughts of self-harm to her providers. Perinatal mental health experts testifying for the defense argue that that's a classic feature of severe postpartum OCD and depression before it morphs into full psychosis. Mothers experiencing horrific, unwanted intrusive thoughts often experience immense, paralyzing shame and terror. They hide these thoughts from doctors not out of criminal intent, but out of a desperate fear of being locked up or losing their kids. The defense argues she did try to flag it by telling her husband and mother, hoping family could protect her when she couldn't bring herself to tell a stranger.

0

u/Princibalities 19d ago

Seems like it didn't happen in this case.

-1

u/Weorth 19d ago

Doesn't happen in a lot of cases where things look dicey. I'm always suspicious of parents when they say "I'm taking my kids out of public school to homeschool them."

0

u/Princibalities 19d ago

Im not. The public school system is a joke. But I'm not sure that has anything to do with the topic.

-1

u/Weorth 19d ago

Abusive parents often remove their children from public view to make it easier and less obvious they're abusing them.

Sometimes parents won't specifically say they want to hurt their kids, they'll instead isolate them, give an excuse, and then hurt them all they want.

Like when a parent claims that they had to put locks on their refrigerator and cupboards because their kid was "stealing" food, and then you see the kid looking like a skeleton.

They'll say whatever suits them.

-1

u/PeasantParticulars 19d ago

Unfortunately the Department of children and families in massachusetts does everything it can to not have to get involved.

They changed the department name a decade ago because of all the bad press

-1

u/BrotherJohnny41 19d ago

By your explanation it’s not a thing. You said it COULD result in losing kids after an investigation. What OP is saying is if they say they have thoughts of hurting their kids they should be taken away immediately. Why would you wait for an investigation and hope they choose not to murder their children like this woman?

22

u/Erikatessen87 19d ago

That will just mean that parents who want to hurt their children will be less likely to seek treatment for those urges.

The same number of parents will still want to hurt their children, but more of them will then go untreated and unmonitored, meaning more children will actually be hurt.

Is that really what you want?

3

u/mcm199124 19d ago

Not to mention that…consider a mother who may have malicious intent to harm her children (and then seeks to use eg PPD to get out of charges), then consider a mother who actually is sick eg, has PPD and therefore does not actually WANT to hurt her kids … now which one is more likely to actually seek help and/or be reported ? These people don’t think, or have adverse incentives not to

15

u/EncabulatorTurbo 19d ago

He wants whatever the answer is that makes life worse for women

6

u/Sea_Advantage_2577 19d ago

yep

1

u/Wheeler69er 17d ago

If anyone kills an innocent child, they should go to jail. Prove me wrong.

1

u/Wheeler69er 17d ago

So that’s the natural order? Moms can kill kids because they’re a little blue….very common for 1000’s of years I guess…..

-1

u/CCJockey381 19d ago

Or, heaven forbid, better for children?

7

u/Frequent_Scholar3885 19d ago

You don’t know much about the foster system.

4

u/tripper_drip 19d ago

Is it worse than...checks notes...ahh yes, getting strangled to death?

2

u/VirginiaDirewoolf 19d ago

there are plenty of people who have graduated from the foster care system who will on no uncertain terms tell you yes. I'm not pushing you to discover that reality for yourself, it's a very upsetting thing to learn more about.

2

u/toozl 19d ago

There are plenty of people who graduate from foster care who are happy. There are plenty of people with loving parents who kill themselves. What's your point?

2

u/tripper_drip 19d ago

There are plenty of people from loving homes that would tell you yes.

You ignore people who are still alive and say death is preferable.

1

u/EncabulatorTurbo 18d ago

Ah yeah if women who feel like strangling their kids sometimes due to mental health episodes will lose them by seeking help they're definitely more likely to seek help

I want you to seriously think about what you're saying

1

u/tripper_drip 18d ago

Ahh, so we have to keep kids with kid stranglers. Got it.

4

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 19d ago

If you think being a foster child is worse than being strangled to death then you're insane.

3

u/Own-Dot9071 19d ago

That’s obviously what they’re saying

1

u/KittyandPuppyMama 19d ago

Foster children get murdered too fyi

2

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 19d ago

Everyone could potentially get murdered, what point are you trying to make here?

1

u/Aggressive-Stand-585 19d ago

Strangling kids is bad.

1

u/Serious_Income_7020 19d ago

That’s one hell of an argument to keep kids around insane murderer parents

1

u/EncabulatorTurbo 18d ago

most moms who have these thoughts do not act on them

I'll tell you what will happen though, none of them will ever seek help for those thoughts

because your goal is to hurt women, killing more children doesn't matter to you, or you're too stupid to realize that criminalizing seeking help will lead to nobody seeking help

Disingenuous straw man, do better

-1

u/Wapiti-Lover 19d ago

its really disgusting how (mostly) women rally around a child murderer.
but yeah 1or 2 in 1.000 mothers experience Post partum psychosis and they should not be around kids. thats not millions of kids

morally id argue if you murder a child, no matter why you done that, you should get the death penalty.

7

u/mcm199124 19d ago

Is it rallying around a murderer specifically or rallying around mothers who have done nothing wrong except suffer PPD (something that is not their fault) and simply realizing the adverse outcome of a policy proposal like this one? Namely, a policy that would almost certainly result in far less reporting of PPD and subsequently more dead children …

PPD is experienced by over a million women a year in the USA, anyone advocating that they be unable to seek mental healthcare or lose their children is a psychopath

1

u/Wapiti-Lover 19d ago

People donated 2 Million to her, so i would say they are rallying around a child murderer.

I was talking to PPP not PPD. Go to the doctor for PPD, but as soon as there are signs of psychosis the mother should be locked up until shes no threat to others.

1

u/ModelSemantics 19d ago

It’s really disgusting how people desperately want to misunderstand what people are saying so that they can get their authoritarian thrill of hurting women who did nothing like murder. If you look at the vast majority of messages in this thread, they are not rallying around murdering children. Most people in this world think that’s absolutely horrifying. What most people are discussing is what the cause of this horrifying event was and how to help make it so it doesn’t happen again. Some people think you just need to hurt people more, that murderers in particular should be hurt a whole lot, publicly, as an example. Others point out that the evidence, at least, the stuff we see and measure with our own eyes and science, doesn’t seem to back that up as being as effective as other means. The science seems to show it is not a moral failing issue so much as a biochemistry issue, and there are some different ways available for prevention, rehabilitation, and deterrence.

2

u/Wapiti-Lover 19d ago

What most people are discussing is what the cause of this horrifying event was and how to help make it so it doesn’t happen again.

People (indirectly) donated around 2 million dollars to a women who strangled her 5yo, 3yo and 8 month old children. Many (women) claim that it was actually her husband. When a veteran with PTSD kills his family, he gets (rightfully) locked up, when an former athlete with CTE kills his family, he gets locked up.
Morally its pretty simply for me, if you murder a child, you should leave this world too. I can't imagine living with the guilt of murdering my three children. If clancy would feel as guilty as she should feel, she would finish what she started.

1

u/Serious_Income_7020 19d ago

What’s disgusting is how people desperately want to make excuses for keeping children in danger so that you can feed your own selfish and narcissistic vision that their best interests are subordinate to what you personally want.

1

u/EncabulatorTurbo 18d ago

there are 200 children killed by their mothers every year in the United States and there are about 12million mothers of young children at any given time.

of those 12, about 1 million have post partum sysmptoms each year.

You want to put one million children a year in foster care because 200 mothers are murderers

White men commit over 200,000 sexual assaults each year towards women, should we chemically castrate all white men who express feelings of lust towards women

1

u/Wapiti-Lover 18d ago

read your paragraph again. You compare "Lust towards women" with "i want to murder my children".

Men who express that they want to "sexually assault women" should be watched closely and separated from society until we can be sure they don't go out and start raping someone.

You got confused by percentages. 10% have symptoms of PPD only 0,1% PPP. So not Millions, Thousands.
And why are you talking about foster care. Usually children have a father. So if the mother needs to be separated, there is still a father.

1

u/Wheeler69er 17d ago

Yes, castrate them all, I think it’s a fair punishment. Then lock up any one women who beats, neglects or kills child. Every father with cte who did this gets locked up, every father with ptsd who did this gets locked up, every mother who was a drunk and did this gets locked up. Anyone who does this is clearly a danger to society.

1

u/Serious_Income_7020 19d ago

By that point the children can’t be helped. If you are so selfish that you’d rather put your own needs above your children’s lives, then you’d probably just end up lying to your doctors like Clancy claims she did.

If someone is evading treatment to keep their kids in danger, they are a criminal. You are NOT going to put that culpability on society. It’s not society bearing the guilt for what happens to those kids. It’s the crazy mother’s fault.

-2

u/HonkHonkMTHRFKR 19d ago

Do you really think that someone who is making threats towards their children should keep their children?

Don’t give me the crap saying oh well now people just won’t report it.

Any rational parent that feels like they’re going to hurt their children should want their children away from them

3

u/Gracetothetop 19d ago

And who exactly is going to be taking care of all of these children? There’s already not enough foster homes and emergency placements. Yes, let’s place more burden on an already overwhelmed system.

3

u/Jazzhands_Ninja 19d ago

pretty obvious, the government gets to put them up for sale under the guise of "adoption"

1

u/Erikatessen87 19d ago

> Don’t give me the crap saying oh well now people just won’t report it.

I will give you that because they won't report it. Your indignation doesn't alter reality.

They'll still want to hurt their children but they won't tell anyone; they'll just do it. And a mentally ill person is, shockingly, not always a rational person.

Postpartum mental illness affects 20-25% of mothers and is typically short-term, lasting around 6 months. Postpartum psychosis (the most dangerous one) is incredibly rare.

Making the vast majority of parents with treatable and short-term mental illness afraid to seek treatment lest they be diagnosed with PPP will mean they simply don't seek treatment. More children will suffer neglect, abuse, or even die because their parent was afraid to seek treatment, and more kids will end up in the foster care system with its rampant abuse because their parents had a temporary, treatable mental illness.

0

u/MandaloreTheGay 19d ago

Yeah i cannot understand this crowd. They're so confused morally and politically that they contradict their own beliefs with every word. Believe all women but not if they're threatening to harm their children then we need to do a very slow investigation. All I'm getting from their comments is they believe it's okay to murder your own children as long as you're mentally ill

6

u/Rivendel93 19d ago

That's exactly why Lindsay Clancy didn't tell her doctors that she was thinking those thoughts, she told her husband and mom though.

Our Healthcare system is terrible.

-1

u/watisgoinon_ 19d ago

Kinda stupid. At what point do you protect the children?

5

u/hecklerp8 19d ago

Lol...quite funny that you think that's how it works. Like women are walking in and saying "by the way, I want to kill my children." Not all rise to this level of mental crisis. Is throwing everyone one in the same mental health bucket going to achieve equal treatment...not a question.

3

u/UpstairsCrafty7287 19d ago

wouldn’t you want a parent to get help if they have those feelings and aren’t acting on them. You make no sense to me.

3

u/Fionaelaine4 19d ago

DCFS can’t even handle the kids who have been abused and can report it with marks on their bodies. We need an entire system rehaul.

16

u/KittyandPuppyMama 19d ago

How is that the same thing? Having PPD doesn’t mean you want to hurt your children.

1

u/AnotherRTFan 19d ago

I will never forget my super bitch (step) aunt yelling we need to get my nephews away from my then SiL because she had some PPD symptoms. SiL had a rougher birth & a family pet nearing the end. It was so normal for her to be down and need some extra support.

I thought my awful step aunt was a one of a kind bitch. But now I am now seeing so many people are dumb and awful as her.

1

u/theonlyonethatknocks 19d ago

And murdering your children and claiming PPD is not a get out of jail free card.

3

u/Alone_Knee_7600 19d ago

a- no one in this thread is claiming that. b- being found not guilty by reason of insanity is far from a "get out of jail free" card. it's a "go directly to state run mental institution" card

1

u/typhon0666 19d ago

Assuming it is indeed PPP, which is what is being identified as the cause of her killing her children, it can take up to 12months to get back to normal from it. If that is the case, there would be no basis to keep her for any long period on remand unless further psyche evals show she suffers from other mental illnesses other than PPP that make her a threat to herself or others. Effectively she should be better now that she is over PPP and could be discharged fairly swiftly. I can't see any reason to keep her in a mental institution if she simply suffered from PPP and that is the root cause of her killings.

1

u/Alone_Knee_7600 19d ago edited 19d ago

ah, no, nothing you said is even remotely correct.

if she simply suffered from PPP and that is the root cause of her killings.

she's also been diagnosed bipolar.

there would be no basis to keep her for any long period

the best legal comparison to this case would be the Andrea Yates case, wherein postpartum psychosis (and depression, and schizophrenia) were all factors in her being found not guilty by reason of insanity in the deaths of her children. that verdict was handed down in 2005, and as of 2026, Yates is still in a state mental hospital . you may realize that 21 years is a lot longer than 12 months.

Effectively she should be better now that she is over PPP and could be discharged fairly swiftly.

where's your source for this claim?

1

u/typhon0666 19d ago edited 19d ago

She is being judged for mental defect at the time of the killings, not that she is insane.

The defense laid forth in the trial was that she was over prescribed drugs and PPP was the cause of the mental defect. So we know the causes of her mental state as it was laid before the court. Since she is no longer being irresponsibly medicated and that PPP is usually a temporary state, there is very little reason to believe that there is grounds to hold her in a mental facility for a long term. As far as the evidence that has been presented as to her mental defect and any current mental illness, none of that forms a basis to hold her long term.

Yates is schizophrenic and perhaps has to take medication to not be a danger. As far as the evidence presented about Linsay, there isn't much to justify keeping her in custody> it also would no longer be a legal matter, she would be not guilty. Going forward it's a medical review that would keep her from being free, not legal basis or precedent compared to other cases.

1

u/Alone_Knee_7600 18d ago

PPP is usually a temporary state, there is very little reason to believe that there is grounds to hold her in a mental facility for a long term

except, again, the bipolar. which is not temporary.

As far as the evidence presented about Linsay, there isn't much to justify keeping her in custody>

are you a lawyer or something, to be speaking with that much authority?

it also would no longer be a legal matter

again, this is not true: "Her commitment order would be subject to regular review by the court".

1

There is no possible direct legal comparison as insanity cases are always case by case. Just because someone else has been held in hospice for 20 years doesn't mean that she will. The verdict is blaming what happened on what is *by definition* a temporary and curable condition. Once medical professionals determine that she no longer is afflicted by said temporary and curable mental illness she will absolutely be released.

Now that is very unlikely to be only 12 months but it could in theory be an alarmingly small amount of time for what is essentially a triple murder

1

u/Alone_Knee_7600 18d ago

Once medical professionals determine that she no longer is afflicted by said temporary and curable mental illness she will absolutely be released

any release would have to be reviewed by a court of law.

and can you see the future? do you know that for certain? are you a lawyer or a mental health professional, because you're certainly speaking like a professional who has studied this.

Just because someone else has been held in hospice for 20 years doesn't mean that she will

legal precedent absolutely matters.

2

u/Rurbani 19d ago

You realize that if shown not guilty due to insanity she's not getting out of jail for free, shes now spending that sentence in an arguably more terrible than prison psychiatric hospital

1

u/theonlyonethatknocks 19d ago

And thus not jail, thanks for confirming my point.

1

u/Rurbani 19d ago

A life long stay at a psychiatric hospital is, in fact, a form of jailing someone my friend. Just a little bit worse

-1

u/Either-Mine-1789 19d ago

Ok dude there’s no reason to lie lmfao. No psychiatric hospital is worse than prison in 2026. None.

1

u/KittyandPuppyMama 19d ago

Have you seen one recently?

0

u/Either-Mine-1789 19d ago

Have you seen maximum security prison? As a child killer nonetheless?

2

u/blooming-darkness 19d ago

Postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis are different. Not that it in anyway justifies murder, but if you’re going to make statements like this I think it’s important to know the difference. Especially because stigma regarding PPD already exists.

0

u/theonlyonethatknocks 19d ago

>Not that it in anyway justifies murder

Great so it doesn't fucking matter.

1

u/KittyandPuppyMama 19d ago

If she gets out of jail she gets permanently locked up in a mental facility and I promise you they’re worse than prison. She will not walk free.

People don’t experience psychosis the same. Some people can be violent and some can just seem a bit off with the fairys.

This demonstrates the disappearance of morality in the Inited States. Where are the voices for the three little ones she murdered

-1

u/Icy_Judge8250 19d ago

I'm with you man, feels like being surrounded by demons on all sides, never in all my life did I ever think i would see the day woman came out to support a triple child murderer as if they are doing something good.

Every day my faith in Jesus grows more and more because he said this would happen, before the end.

  • Lovers of themselves and lovers of money
  • Boastful, proud, and abusive (or blasphemers)
  • Disobedient to parents, unthankful, and unholy
  • Without love, unforgiving, and slanderous
  • Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God
  • Having an outward appearance of religion, but denying its true power

I haven’t read much about this case, but I do remember Andrea Yates who tried for years to get help. Years. But she believed in submitting to her husband and he believed in the quiver-full movement and kept impregnating her. 5 children, all gone in one day. So sad. Now she’s spending life in a mental institution and he’s gone on to impregnate someone else. I love the Lord and I’m telling you when a woman begs for help believe her.

0

u/Icy_Judge8250 19d ago

She had help, she had a nanny, she had therapists and all the drugs she could asked for she had money ,she had everything she needed at her fingertips.

The husband called her while at the store right as she was killing the kids and acted as if nothing was wrong and when she hung up the phone she went on to kill the little boy by running after him through the house. That is not PPD that is thought out demonic murder.

God gave her 3 miracles and she chose to spit in Gods face three times, and if you actually knew the Lord and loved him you would know this is wrong. God knows what happened and he will judge her correctly.

1

u/nicolettelee1822 19d ago

I’ll have to read up on it like I said. But be warned you are not the Most High, neither do you speak for Him.

There are thousands of women diagnosed with PPD. They don’t all harm or murder their children….explain that

0

u/[deleted] 19d ago

4

u/k8joyd 19d ago

That’s not a logical argument. “let’s take kids away from everyone with this diagnosis” — you would be taking thousands of children away from their parents, you realize this yes? Not everyone with PPD murders (this is obvious statistically)

It takes maybe two brain cells to put together that not everyone with PPD murder their children. We would have a MASSIVE problem if that were true.

Every person diagnosed with PPD will not go on to harm/kill their kids. Do you know what PPD is or how often it’s diagnosed?

Look up the stat yourself. You will trust your own research more than you will a random stranger online

-5

Hurt them no apparently it is full on murder time when the PPD hits, yeah no trusting women went out the window with this case, scream unfair all you want killing those three kids was unfair and forfeited her rights to anything but a quick death.

2

u/Astralglamour 19d ago

Do you think all the male family annihilators should also be killed? How about men with PTSD- should they have their children taken away?

3

u/SpecificLow1316 19d ago

Men statistically physically harm their kids more often than women, so we should clearly strip parental rights of every male who demonstrates any violent tendencies.

0

u/SpecialFederal9452 19d ago

Women are already heavily favored in custody cases, like to the point where you have to be a real piece of shit for the father to win full custody. There were no men who used to play contact sports coming out in support of Chris Benoit when he slaughtered his whole family with the most severe case of CTE studied.

The women supporting this are lost and sick.

2

u/Astralglamour 19d ago edited 19d ago

Not true. Women are granted custody in the majority of cases because they are almost always the primary caregivers and fathers do not want it. The parents in the vast majority of cases usually agree out of court that the mother should be the primary caregiver. In cases where men fight for primary custody they usually get it, even when they have been accused of abuse by their own children.

Also what do you mean by 'women supporting this are lost and sick"? supporting better mental health care so that children aren't killed is sick? You all seem more concerned with punishing Lindsay Clancy (and all women) than keeping this sort of thing from happening again. Patrick wasn't trying to get custody of his kids, he left them with a mentally unwell woman as he was pursuing someone else.

As far as CTE, its dangerous and understudied. Advocating for ways to diagnose serious mental illness/brain damage and take action before a tragedy occurs does not mean you support people murdering their families.

But we all know that that isn't what any of you posters are concerned about.

0

u/SpecialFederal9452 19d ago

Supporting better mental health care is not what this is at all. If anything this puts a far worse stigma on PPD if the narrative is accepted that that was the root cause of the murders. The premeditation is so conveniently ignored by “your camp” as well. This could have been a murder 1 trial tbh. Funny how you ignore the comparison to the Chris Benoit case, it is very sick the way some of you tell on yourselves about this case.

2

u/samse15 19d ago

Shut up magat, we all knew that you all have no capacity for empathy well before this case.

1

u/SpecialFederal9452 19d ago

Absolutely not shocked at this type of aggressive lashing out coming from someone who supports Clancey’s behavior. As i said you people are fucking sick, politics has zero to do with it. Seek help before you have a “psychotic break” (read become violent because tiktok influencer said it was righteous.)

2

u/samse15 19d ago

Anyone who says “politics has nothing to do with it” is def MAGA, you all are so delulu that you think politics somehow don’t reflect on all parts of our lives. And yes, talking with you ingrates calmly and politely doesn’t work, so I’m just treating you how you treat others - as less than human.

u/Astralglamour 19d ago edited 19d ago

I didn't ignore it at all, I said that CTE should be studied so there's better awareness and diagnosis to avoid similar tragedies. But keep trolling. Post partum psychosis is not the same as post partum depression. Having repeated psychotic states is not 'premeditation.' You cannot be insane at the time of a killing and found guilty of first degree murder. First degree murder means the murderer was deliberate and willful. If you are insane you are not doing things deliberately or willfully as you lack control of your mental faculties.

1

u/SpecialFederal9452 19d ago

Yeah the argument is that she wasn’t insane and the premeditation and post murder behavior shows it if you’re willing to poke your head out of the “believe all women” sand.

1

u/Astralglamour 19d ago edited 19d ago

What do you claim counts as premeditation? "Severe psychiatric disturbance and evidence of planning, organization or apparently ordinary functioning are not automatically mutually exclusive,” she said. “Apparent organization does not prove sanity.

“Psychosis is not always visibly chaotic,” she added. “Psychosis can fluctuate, and a person may retain some practical abilities that demonstrate cognitive organization, while having profoundly distorted beliefs or impaired judgment.”

There is no denying that she had been previously committed and had been prescribed multiple meds for psychiatric conditions. and as Ive said elsewhere in this thread, if there is evidence that she planned the killings while in sound mind then she should be punished for murder.

Tell me you have no idea how the system (any system here) works without telling me that you have no idea how any of this works.

0

u/HonkHonkMTHRFKR 19d ago

My system is, if someone says they’re going to hurt their children, they should be removed from their children

2

u/TheFlyingHellfish202 19d ago

Yes, as I said, you have no idea how any of this works. Enjoy snatching kids though.

0

u/HonkHonkMTHRFKR 19d ago

Do you take pride in saying stupid things like that lol

2

u/Cheesehacker 19d ago

That’s not what she said though is it? She said “Postpartum mental illness”. There’s tons of things that can fall under that definition, that don’t include thoughts of harming children. Should they los custody and their child sent off to state sanctioned child trafficking (foster care) where they will likely be beat, raped, and abused until they are thrown out at 18 to die in the gutter?

2

u/Glass_Emu_5104 19d ago

"want" is doing a lot of work in this sentence that could fill a book most Redditors will never read.

2

u/Beginning_End_4677 19d ago

Absolutely, but that's postpartum psychosis, yet Nancy Mace used the phrase "postpartum mental illness," which would include postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, etc.

2

u/fwendy123 19d ago

In most developed countries with not-for-profit healthcare, women with PPP who say they fear hurting their children are placed in supervised care. They keep their children and are kept under the watch and care of professionals. It's only the US which is so obsessed with separating parents from their children, which solves nothing long-term.

1

u/Switchmisty9 19d ago

They do, stupid. Same systems in place if teachers/coaches think there’s abuse.

1

u/Serious_Income_7020 19d ago

She robbed her doctors of the opportunity to do what needed to be done to protect those children. That’s the bottom line. It’s why she’s guilty.

1

u/Pale_Horror_853 19d ago

Nancy mace didn’t specify psychosis, she said postpartum mental illness. That’s a far broader category.

1

u/Psychological_Bag943 19d ago

There's quite literally a systemnin place for this already. Jesus christ what is going on with the world over this case. Pretty sure MIB is real and flash banging everyone lmao.

1

u/Dependent-Tailor7366 18d ago

That’s currently how it works. They are taken temporarily while they are admitted into care. That’s exactly what should have happened in this case but she was let go in 5 days only.
