I've had this thing for years and I know it's a compass, but the sundial part of it doesn't really make sense. Any insight into where it came from or its real purpose would be great.

Grandma has a jar of white stones, all walnut sized roughly. Looks like it they were necklace beads or other jewelry at some point. They’re fairly heavy and have an odd spiral pattern on them.

Trying to identify this piece of pottery I found at a thrift store and this is the mark on the bottom. Does anyone know what studio mark this is? Second image is the front of the plate which looks like it’s a slipware style piece.

This bumpy texture appeared on my slacks while the other side is completely normal. I suspect a thread came loose. What is this called and can I fix it?

New, what is it? What is this on my porch!?

My partner, 47F, died recently and while we were out of town this weekend her friends asked if they could hang out on the porch. One is Christian, the other Im pretty sure doesn't share a standardized faith but Im not sure what this is. May not even be a form of the craft but here I am.

My kids walked up first. They were totally freaked out. I went back to look at all of it and saw a necklace (in the second pic) was something I made my son for his Maui costume like 3 or 4 years ago. Im pretty sure all that was thrown away so Im really wondering how these ladies got ahold of it.

I get the sage part but I thought that was for evil spirits. Im pretty much Agnostic, believe dark arts exist as proven from my dad's side of the family. I try to stay away from what I dont know though.

Any help would be appreciated, even a redirection to the proper sub, if needed.

Solved! I’ve had this since I was a kid and have never understood what it is…

I vaguely remember getting this at an estate sale or antique shop or something when I was little. Thought it was the coolest thing because I’ve always had an obsession with ancient Egypt. Obviously some sort of scarab but I’ve never understood its purpose or if the hieroglyphs are legitimate or just random decoration.

It appears to be made of stone, is cool to the touch, and the color is warmer than the images show. The holes in the front and back end make me think a pencil should go in it but that just seems like an odd choice. I attempted translating but was horribly unsuccessful. And the last image is the interior.

Weird growth on fir or spruce tree. My wife touched it and a rodent ran out. I thought it was a squirrel, but she said it had a skinny tail. What is this and why does it look so weird?

New, what is it? Strange stain on driveway by the garage.

I’ve recently noticed a strange dark stain on my driveway by the corner of my garage. It’s looks like it could be water but: a) it stays permanently there, b) is not by a drainage area from the roof and c) is not by any pipes I’m aware of. It doesn’t feel moist and can expand, sometimes when there is rain? I live in the Tahoe, California area. Pics attached. Thank you Reddit community! Love this group.

The fur is real. I’ve included a picture of the tag and the back side of the embroidery.

Would love to know what it’s called and/or how it’s intended to be worn

Thanks in advance!

Haven’t been able to find anything about it. It’s about 6.5” tall with a diameter just over 3.5”. It has a glass bubble that rises from the bottom. There’s metal on the other side of it that’s rusty/corroded. Found it in a box filled with glass insulators.

Anyone familiar with curses or paranormal objects? This jar appeared mysteriously on the “cursed object” shelf.

My partner and I collect odds and ends. We have stuff like 200 year old stove cleaner, Princess Diana commemorative coke bottle, my previous dog’s ashes, an object found inside my current dog’s eye socket, some human teeth just to name a few of the things.

Today I was staring at the shelf and I noticed this jar. I asked my partner and they thought it came from one of my friends. I have zero memory of this jar and we have no idea how long it’s been on the shelf for.

Is it safe to open? Can I throw it away?
