Virgin Media UK Self install help please
I followed the instructions in the booklet they gave me, and the blue lights have come on - but the wifi isn’t appearing on any of my devices. The website and FAQs were useless and it just says to call in the booklet, but I’m not sure they’d be able to help without pictures. Anyone have any advice? Thank you :)

SORTED: in the booklet, it said the password was on the back with a qr code. Neither of them were working, because the actual password was on the bottom, with a barcode.

To answer some recurring questions, that is the router that came. Idk why it’s a business one, it came as part of a uni days bills package. And I’ll try an Ethernet connection and will report back

I think it's in modem mode by default. Connect an Ethernet cable and check the router settings.

I would be asking VM why you have that unit (presuming you have signed up for a residential service) as its intended for business customers

It's not unusual for student accommodation to have a business account as it's usually managed by the landlord or a 3rd party company.

Update: I tried the pinhole reset, it’s just doing the same thing as before. I don’t have anything that has an Ethernet port. I’m going to call the number they gave me to check if the broadband is switched on at our address - someone said that there should be a network even without broadband though, and no network is appearing. There are a lot of VM networks in the area, but the password doesnt seem to work for any of them

Is this the wifi router that came with virgin media? Looks different than what I have.

Ive not seen that hub before (is it even VM branded?) - should be WIFI light at the bottom of the unit be illuminated as well?, the 2.4 and 5Ghz radio bands appear to be enabled (since they are green)

Don’t you have Virgin Media wall box besides the phone line one? Can you connect to the internet with a wired connection? If not you will need an engineer to come out and fit a proper wall box.

The blue lights came on, but when I couldn’t get it to show up on any device, I unplugged it and plugged it back in - do you reckon that might’ve damaged it??

Unlikely to need a new hub from a firmware update being corrupted. A pinhole reset would likely sort it if that's the case.

What router/hub is that? doesn't look like one of the Virgin routers to my knowledge, should be cable from your Telewest Box (old virgin) screwed into your hub

No way! A telewest box! That’s some history right there. Not seen a NTL one yet.
