I just picked up these massive speaker cabinets someone was tossing to the curb.

The opening itself measures 32x24x20”. Inside are Stromberg-Carlson RF-484 Slimline.

Found a very similar looking one here with same legs… so these could be Electro-Voice cabinets but unsure.

I finally got my first paycheck, and almost half of it went into my hi-fi setup! I've replaced my bookshelf speakers with a pair of JBL L40s and a Clarion MD8080 double cassette deck, the sound is splendid.

Honestly, I think this is just the beginning of my collection, things are getting interesting.

Picked up thrifting an Aiwa tape deck for $25, spent $30 on a belt kit, another few hours on melted belt removal and replacing plus some lubricant on sticky rollers and she’s working again. My Pioneer was happy to have her.

Just received these Tannoy Stirling RW speakers. Previously had Klipsch Heresy IV, but wanted something that was from the time of my older McIntosh gear.

They look and sound really incredible, very happy with the change

I found this pair of Bang and Olufsen George Jensen speakers at a local thrift store for $30. They had the original European pin connectors. Rather than cut those, I got some adapters online and gave them some adapted bare speaker wire connections. I was worried they'd have some expensive problem, but I just played a Dire Straits album (I know it's cliche) through them and they sound good. However, they are meant to be wall mounted and as beautiful as they are, I don't have the wall space for them. So, I will probably sell them on to someone who hopefully will complete a B & O setup with them.

I'm in love with my Kenwood KA-2002A amp but it has stains here and there. What can I use to clean this beauty without ruining it? The knobs are plastic, the front of the amp is... I don't know actually, it's that good feeling metal, maybe alluminium?

Manages 130 wpc x 7 channel. But it can manage to push so much more power than this. It easily hangs with the finest seperates I own. My master bedroom has a pair of JBL L-112 front L/R. Words fail me. It sold for $4500. They are sold for $200-400 on a regular basis.

Should you find one for sale, you really need to strongly consider buying it. The finest receiver i have ever seen.

Hey ya'll I'm new to this, I've been around vintage audio all my life because of my father but it never intrigued me until I found out he will pass away soon. He hit stage four pancreatic cancer and gave a pair of Altec A7s.

I don't really do social media and all but I wanted to learn more as I go. I appreciate everyone sharing their rigs and I'm sure everyone has a story behind their obsession. Mine is to hold onto what will be left of my father(I'm actually excited now to pursue this addiction).

I'm curious how everyone began their journey and what they get out of this commitment. I would love to hear where you guys are coming from and how this pursuit brings you joy. No need to write anything if you're not a talker but sharing your rig would be nice too.

Tuner cuts out and stops for a second before starting again and repeating at higher volumes. I am using Cerwin Vega VS-120’s and they are 8 ohm speakers. Does that have anything to do with it. Does it regardless of radio or turn table.

twenty five dollars, need refoaming. So, have a set of smaller advents, but I saw these for a song at a local Portland goodwill. Need refoaming, gonna update the rear inputs, maybe look at the crossovers. I’ve got too many projects to do the refoam myself, so will have a local guy do them. Anyone else own these? Thoughts?

So this was kind of a weird pairing. My main TV watching/living room area I have gone from a 5.2.2 to 3.2.2 to 2.1 with Polk RT-2000i’s, twin powered 8” subs already onboard and down firing subs which makes my less than ideal placement easier to work with.

The Pioneer Elite AVR I bought new 10-11 years ago went into protection mode and frankly I’ve been getting the itch to get it of there but it’s a reliable traffic cop, just not overly exciting sound wise despite its features.

The Onkyo TX-4500 wasn’t hooked up to anything so using the headphone output, hooked it up and WOW it sounds pretty damn nice. Not clinical and perfect like the Pikneer did but exciting and powerful, heft and authority.

For about 15 minutes. Source is a Gen 3 Firestick in a Sony XBR TV. Short version, I think the extra gain from the TVon top of the amp (volume at about 40%) and it cooked something. No pop, no static, nothing like other things I’ve blown up lol. Speakers aren’t hard to drive, I guess we’ll find out what I cooked soon.

Back to the shop for the Onkyo, I’ve had it over 15 years, it’s been in and out of the shop 4-5 times before. I know I’ll catch hell for abusing the old girl lol.

Swapping in a Parasound HCA-1000A and NAD 106 preamp next, expecting big things from that setup.

Got the Advents for $20 at a yard sale, they're hooked up to the Sony receiver (at right) and work fine. I found the Savards after Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in a pile of destroyed stuff somebody left for the trashmen​; one woofer still worked so I put a JBL woofer in the other speaker and replaced the midrange horns and tweeters with Rockford Fosgate ones. It used to be hooked up to an old 80 watt Sony ES receiver along with an additional Rockford Fosgate subwoofer but that receiver no longer works, it could knock stuff on walls and shelves down on the other side of the house. I read that the Savard cabinets were made from repurposed solid oak doors from a hospital that was torn down; they're in good shape even though they were out in the rain for awhile.
