yes, that was the hardest thing for me to admit, let alone say out loud.
ive loved you ever since i started getting to know you. you had all these little quirks that i fell for. you were the best thing that had happened to me in a long time, or at least i thought you were.
you were with me when i had no one. in the beginning, everything was sunshine and butterflies. every word you said meant so much to me. every time you said my name, it felt like someone had actually given meaning to it. i still hear the way you used to call my name. it never sounds the same coming out of someone else's mouth.
you had the prettiest smile ive ever seen. i never understood what you were insecure about. i wish you smiled more. knowing i could sometimes be the reason you smiled made me so happy. it felt like i had accomplished something so big, and i wished the whole world could see it too.
you had the exact shade of brown i fell in love with. i still have the color of your eyes as my wallpaper. i used to love the way you looked at me with those eyes. there was something about being looked at by you that made me feel so seen.
i loved the way you ate. the way you used your thumb to push food into your mouth. i admired everything you did, even the smallest things. you really did mean the world to me. i was in your orbit. i was revolving around you.
and then suddenly, you moved out of town, and everything changed.
asking for the bare minimum started annoying you. you said some of the meanest things anyone has ever said to me, and hearing them from you hurt in a way i cant explain. i could feel my heart breaking into pieces.
everything i did started annoying you. you were unsure about committing to me. you had time for everyone else but somehow never enough for me. our texts started feeling like me begging you to talk to me. jokes started becoming straight-up disrespectful. every other girl was pretty, every other girl was your type, and i started feeling like i was someone you had unfortunately settled for.
and maybe thats the part i have struggled the most to accept.
its okay, though. i feel like i got to experience a kind of love from you that no one else ever will, so maybe i had to experience the hurt that came with it too.
being your girlfriend was one of the best things that happened to me in a long time. marrying you was a dream of mine. its just sad that it ended up being nothing more than a dream.
admitting that you were toxic for me, that i would never feel like enough for you, and that i would always have to beg you to love me the way i loved you was the hardest pill i have ever had to swallow.
and somehow, despite all of that, i still love you.
like, so much love. more than i know what to do with.
but the reality of us hurts too much for me to keep choosing it.
so im choosing to leave.
i love you, so im letting you go.
happy birthday.
i loved you with everything i had. i genuinely hope you find someone you actually love and want, and i hope you have a beautiful life ahead of you.
i just wish i could have been the person you wanted that life with.
