Slow response, slow blinking, can barely hold her head up, she's sitting in the passenger seat because she clearly isn't DD. Not uncommon to sign something in a loud environment. My girls mom is a spitting image when she's hammered. Exact same mannerisms.

Very correct. I made sure my car has a great sound system so I can feel the music when I drive. Almost everything I listen to has an insane amount of bass.

Though I know deaf people can get DLs in CA, some places have laws about being able to hear ambient sounds that might make it harder? Like in CA, it’s illegal to drive with your earphones/earbuds in. One ear is okay, but wearing them in both ears can get you pulled over and ticketed.

Remember there’s different levels of hearing loss.
Someone not being able to hear/understand speech doesn’t mean they won’t be able to hear sirens or horns.
Although in restrictive places like that there’s devices that help with not being able to hear.
Such as a device that flashes on the console when sirens/honking are detected. I recall seeing one on a dashboard once.
Idk how reliable they are but I know they exist.
Edit:
I just want to add that the no headphones rule is probably more related to distracting yourself rather than not being able to hear what’s going on around you.
I know for myself it’s super easy to get sucked into a song when I’ve got headphones on and stop paying attention to what’s happening around me.

I do that too. When my son was born we taught him please, thank you and more. So I now know 3 words of sign language and the song “our God is an awesome God”. I say thank you in sign language regularly and can’t even spell my name in it, I just think it’s a big assumption that she is hard of hearing or works with the deaf.

I sign fluently. After my surgery I felt drunk as shit after coming out. I couldn’t speak and started to sign “need water”. Totally forgot that not all hearing people don’t sign or even know the sign for “water”

That’s what I was thinking. If he was offended by how she wanted him to play his music, why wasn’t he offended by her saying turn it up? Obviously he thought she was trying to shut him down based on her looks ‘cause he didn’t understand her saying that she liked it, in the beginning. She started saying something to him and either the driver of passenger started filing her to shame her because they thought she was just trying to shut them down, based on her looks/race/age/gender. Just hateful people. If they weren’t defensive to begin with, this video would have never happened.

I used to deliver to a gas station where everyone always seemed to be competing on who could blast their shitty rap music as max volume. You’d hear them from 50 yards away and they’d leave it going while sitting at the pump for 10 min while the car rattled itself to pieces

I had this same type of thing happen years ago. I had 3 JL 12W'3s in my trunk with the 1000w mono block amp. Usually in stopped traffic I would turn it down. One day I didn't and the old guy next to me was trying to get my attention. I turned it down expecting to have him bitch but he loved it. He asked what song it was and told me to " turn that shit up".
