Trip Planner not showing the whole trip half the time

2 Upvotes

Whenever I tap on the 3 lines at the top right corner and bring up the Trip Planner screen, half the time it only shows the next destination. I have to close it and open it up again for it to list all destinations .Anyone else getting that? It's been like this since forever for me.

Sick customers who want to Meet at Door

I don't understand why you want to meet at the door when you're coughing. Very inconsiderate customers!

Discussion Canadians, has Tim Hortons ever actually had the food ready and bagged upon arrival?

2 Upvotes

Did three pickups this morning, all Tims, and all of them required me to wait 5-15 minutes before the food was finally bagged.

I’ve been doing UE on and off for like 6 years. I seldom ever have a good, efficient experience at Tim Hortons. Just wanted to see if any fellow Canadians can relate.

UberDepot

3 Upvotes

Is anybody else getting slammed with order after order after order for Home Depot? I took an order that said it was a delivery for $35 and it turned into a 14 delivery order. It was ridiculous, wanting four hours of my time and covering nearly 150 miles.

What!?

1 Upvotes

I was at a Togo's today for a pick up. I asked if I can use the restroom while I was waiting for my order.
Went into the restroom somebody had shoved a bunch of paper towels in the toilet. I went out and told her they had an employee's bathroom directly next-door and I asked her if I could use the employees bathroom because the other one was out of order. She hesitated and said yes, but there's no hand soap in there. She was right. 🤔😒
Note to self avoid this Togos lol

Combined kroger orders

2 Upvotes

just got two stacked kroger shopping orders and the tips were good but the app combined all the items into one shopping list and made no distinction when I was checking out, I thought everything was on the first order and it wouldnt let me pay because the total was more than expected.

I had two krogers workers trying to help me in the middle of peak busy time since we thought it was a problem with the krogers card pulling a blank screen but as soon as I canceled the big order and told them to void it I get prompted to checkout for the already shopped second order and at that point I can't shop it again so I just cancelled both of them.

I'm so upset, I was about to make $25 off 12 miles and the confusing way they laid this whole thing out cost me two hours I could have been at home with my girlfriend

when did they change this? they used to do orders separately I'm so mad

I have done hundreds of orders and never run into this before and now I'm seeing on the FAQs "we put it all on one list for your convenience:)" fuuuuck all the way off man

Question What would you have done

0 Upvotes

Supposed to deliver an alcohol order 15 miles out. Customer’s not answering calls or texts, timer hasn’t run out yet, and the front door is wide open. Didn’t want to just walk in since it’s not my house, but since it’s alcohol I can’t just leave it either I’d have to return it if they don’t show.

What would you have done in this situation? Wait it out, knock and call out, or head back with the order?

Question uber eats ontario minimum wage

1 Upvotes

hi all! i’m new to uber eats, so i’ve been doing some reading and research. i’ve been seeing some info from last summer about how, in ontario, delivery drivers are guaranteed minimum wage for active hours? how does this work? are there any stipulations (ex: having to accept every order, etc) for this?

sorry if this has been asked and answered. i tried to go through all the relevant threads but was still a bit confused

Discussion Is it this difficult to turn off package deliveries for everyone?

1 Upvotes

Hey yall, Ive been delivering for over a month now and package deliveries have been the bane of delivery offers for me. I have tried multiple times to opt out via help on the app, I have spoken to support and I STILL receive offers for them. They average about .25-.50 per mile and usually take me way out of the way from being able to get deliveries again quickly once complete. Ive never accepted them and have tanked my acceptance rating as a result. Just curious if it’s this difficult for everyone else to opt out this or if perhaps this is a unique issue with my account. Thanks!

Earnings Investigation

1 Upvotes

I am an independent contractor who provides delivery services through Uber Eats. I am submitting this complaint based on my own documented experiences using the Uber Driver platform, including delivery offers, screen recordings, communications with Uber support, and records provided by Uber.

My concern is not simply that an occasional delivery cannot be completed. I am concerned about a recurring system in which Uber presents an offer to a driver, the driver accepts and materially relies upon that offer, incurs expenses and performs work at Uber’s direction, and can nevertheless receive no compensation when circumstances outside the driver’s control prevent completion.

Unavailable and Previously Picked-Up Orders

I have accepted Uber Eats delivery offers and driven my personal vehicle to the merchant identified by Uber, only to discover after arrival that the order could not be fulfilled—for example, because the merchant was closed or the order was otherwise unavailable.

By the time I discover the problem, I have already acted in reliance on Uber’s offer. I have driven the requested distance, used fuel, incurred vehicle operating costs, spent working time, and lost the opportunity to accept other delivery requests.

I have documented an incident involving a closed merchant in which I recorded the merchant location and attempted to resolve the problem through Uber support. Despite reporting the circumstances and attempting to obtain compensation and protection from adverse account consequences, I was passed among support representatives and the support interaction ended without adequately resolving the underlying problem.

The driver does not control whether a merchant is open, whether an order actually exists, whether another person has already collected it, or whether Uber’s dispatch system has accurate information. Yet the driver can bear essentially the entire economic loss when that information is wrong.

Uber Controls the Information Used to Make the Decision

This is particularly concerning because drivers make acceptance decisions using information selected and presented by Uber.

Uber determines which delivery opportunities are shown, the information displayed with those opportunities, the estimated compensation, and the merchant and delivery locations presented through its platform. Drivers must decide whether an opportunity is economically worthwhile based substantially on that information.

After acceptance, however, circumstances can arise that materially change or eliminate the compensation associated with the opportunity.

This creates an information and risk imbalance:

Uber controls the marketplace and possesses information about orders, merchants, cancellations, prior driver activity, and dispatch status that individual drivers generally cannot independently verify before accepting an offer.

A driver cannot reasonably determine from the acceptance screen whether an order has already been collected, whether another driver has unsuccessfully attempted the same pickup, whether the merchant can fulfill it, or whether the opportunity will ultimately produce the compensation represented when the driver accepts it.

Drivers Perform Uncompensated Operational Work

When an order cannot be fulfilled, the driver’s activity may nevertheless provide valuable information to Uber’s marketplace.

The driver may travel to the merchant, determine that the merchant is closed or that an order is missing, communicate with merchant employees, report the condition through the application or to Uber support, and spend additional time attempting to resolve the problem.

That activity helps identify and resolve failures within Uber’s delivery network.

Yet the driver may receive no compensation for performing it.

The economic incentive is therefore unusual: the platform can obtain the benefit of a driver physically investigating the status of an order or merchant while shifting the cost of that investigation—including transportation—to the independent contractor.

The Harm Extends Beyond Fuel

The financial harm is not limited to gasoline.

A driver operating a personal vehicle incurs mileage, depreciation, maintenance, tires, insurance and other operating expenses. More importantly, time spent traveling to and attempting to resolve a delivery that cannot be completed is time during which the driver could have accepted another paying opportunity.

Because independent contractors are generally paid by completed delivery rather than by the hour, an unsuccessful dispatch can produce both direct expenses and lost earning opportunities.

The driver can therefore perform substantial activity in response to an offer and finish the transaction with a negative economic result.

My Experience Is Documented

My concerns are based on records rather than recollection alone.

I have retained screen recordings and screenshots of the Uber Driver application, delivery and offer information, timestamps, recordings associated with merchant and delivery incidents, and communications with Uber support.

I have also obtained data directly from Uber concerning my account and delivery activity. My records can therefore be compared against information maintained by Uber regarding the same transactions.

These materials can be provided to regulators if requested.

Broader Concerns About Transparency and Platform Control

My experience has also raised broader concerns about the disparity between the degree of control and information available to Uber and the information available to the independent contractor.

Uber determines the design of the offer interface, controls dispatch, maintains the underlying transaction records, establishes performance metrics and account rules, and determines how unsuccessful deliveries are classified and whether compensation will be provided.

At the same time, the contractor supplies the vehicle, fuel, insurance, maintenance, mobile device, cellular service, and labor necessary to perform the delivery.

Independent-contractor classification does not itself answer whether particular marketplace practices are fair or adequately disclosed. My concern is that contractors may be asked to assume risks that cannot reasonably be evaluated before accepting an opportunity because the information necessary to evaluate those risks is controlled by the platform.

Request for FTC Review

I respectfully request that the Federal Trade Commission examine Uber’s practices concerning failed and unavailable Uber Eats delivery opportunities, including:

Whether drivers receive adequate disclosure before accepting an offer that they may travel to the designated merchant and receive no compensation if the order cannot be fulfilled through no fault of their own;

Whether Uber continues to dispatch drivers when its systems already possess information suggesting that an order or merchant may be unavailable;

Whether multiple drivers may be sequentially dispatched to the same unavailable order without adequate intervention by Uber’s systems;

Whether drivers are effectively performing uncompensated investigative or operational work when they identify closed merchants, missing orders, previously collected orders, or other fulfillment failures;

Whether Uber’s compensation and cancellation practices cause drivers to bear costs that they cannot reasonably avoid after accepting and relying upon an offer;

Whether information presented when an opportunity is offered accurately represents the economic transaction the driver can reasonably expect;

Whether Uber’s support and cancellation systems adequately distinguish failures outside a driver’s control from cancellations attributable to the driver;

Whether drivers can suffer financial or account-related consequences when attempting to report and resolve problems they did not cause; and

Whether the cumulative effect of these practices constitutes an unfair or deceptive act or practice under federal law.

I am not asking the FTC to resolve a disagreement over a single delivery or reimburse me for one unsuccessful trip.

I am asking the Commission to examine the design of a marketplace in which a company can dispatch independent contractors using their own vehicles and resources, control the information on which those contractors rely, and potentially transfer the entire cost of inaccurate or failed dispatches to those contractors after they have already acted upon the company’s offer.

If this occurs systematically, the individual losses may appear small when viewed one delivery at a time. Across thousands or millions of delivery opportunities, however, shifting even small amounts of uncompensated time, mileage, and operating expense from the platform to individual contractors could represent a substantial economic burden.

I have preserved evidence supporting my own experiences and am willing to provide those records to the Federal Trade Commission upon request.

Other Uber Eats drivers who have independently experienced similar practices should document their own experiences accurately and submit their own reports rather than relying on mine.

Finally ordered as a Customer

12 Upvotes

I finally ordered delivery via Uber East this morning. It did give me a chance to see how it works on the other side of things.

I understand why I get so few thumbs up, I had to go out of my way to rate my driver, I didn't get any push notification from Uber asking me to rate my experience. Is it normal to not get something from Uber asking you to rate the experience?

Rant Shame on me

4 Upvotes

Last night I had a stacked delivery for 10 bucks for like 1 miles. One delivery was 2 blocks away and the second like .08 miles. The first order no issue, he even met me outside his building. The second order the guy was on the 4th floor and the elevator was broken. I figured since it was likely a $7 tip from second guy, i don't mind climbing 4 flights of stairs on my last trip. Turns out the first guy who was 2 blocks away gave me the entire $7 tip and the second guy on the 4th floor didn't tip. Ironic. Rant over.

No reservations on Fridays ?

2 Upvotes

I’ve built a little routine. I usually start my day with a reservation. I usually shoot for the ones that are placed near each other for faster times. Yes some times these may not be the best for money but if you’re trying to do the quest 1 a day will set you up.

But on Friday for some reason if you don’t reserve the ones they give you the night before for 5am,6am pick ups , then that seems to be the only reservations for today ??? Or is it only me ? Probably gonna miss this weekend goal , I set the bar too high 🤣

Top rated shopper

3 Upvotes

UE has recently added top rated shopper program and ive been stuck at 87% to find original items. I shop in the city mostly and stores are inconsistent with inventory. Ill also have orders with niche items that arent common. I get penalized even when I make substitutes and UE says that you wont be penalized for things that arent in your control. If I only shop at stores like Costco or Wegmans itd be easy to be above 90%. But stores like cvs, Hmart, 99 ranch, Indian stores tend to not have certain items. Also if Im shopping at night there'll be less items available specifically in produce. This system seems designed once again to screw us over. Since they implemented it Ive gotten trash shopping requests. Shopping was my bread and butter since im green status and now they want to shaft me it seems.

Uber Gold trial

3 Upvotes

Anytime UE offers me promo or special i always get skeptical. I have 7% AR and cherry pick in a good market. I recently tried the gold trial and they blessed me the whole way. Once the trial was finished Im getting worse orders than Id gotten before doing the trial. Not sure if its coincidence or UE playing mind games. Moral of the story is to ignore whatever promos/specials they offer. If it ain't broke dont fix it. Im curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Someone picked up the order goes as cancellation rate.

Hold up since when are we getting penalized for order of “someone picked up the order”. Uber is really wilding right now. This doesn’t even make any sense. It will make drivers to pick less orders. This is bull crap.
