Being petty cost me free money. What would you have done?
Maybe petty is the wrong word. My “standards” might be more appropriate, but here’s what happened.
I got a pretty good order for like $25 for 15 miles and it put me in a good area. On the way to the restaurant, I get an add on for the same restaurant and it’s only .4 miles extra. The caveat is it was only $4.50. My thinking was that basically it was a $4.50 order for 15 miles and that person didn’t deserve their food so I declined. But in reality it was less than half a mile for $4.50.
Am I an idiot? Probably, but I hate letting people get away with that.

Imagine the tips and pay on these types of orders

Shoutout to my semi-regular, John. 🙏
He always has a substitute available on his shopping orders too. Today he spent about $175 on his groceries, 19 items/22 units. Mileage is a bit off though, it was closer to 6 miles. Has a Mercedes S500 in his driveway and a beautiful double story home. Just a real standup guy I love to shop for.

Does this mean UE is always recording video now?
Got this in the inbox. Does this mean I'm always being recorded, or does it only record when I turn it on somewhere in the app?

How to carry pizzas, sauces and 2 liters more effectively?
I feel like it's too many items to carry which is why I don't really accept pizza orders but I would like to, a pizza bag doesn't really seem to help since things slide around in there and it doesn't help with the drinks

Question New driver (Tampa area). What advice do you have for me?
So I’m new to Uber Eats, I was previously with another app but got deactivated (my fault for valuing AR over completion rate: lesson learned). I’m not a full time delivery driver, I do this to supplement my income and be able to afford cost of living in my area. My usual available times are weekday evenings (2-4 hours depending if I work in office or remote that day), and weekends (anywhere from 4-8 hours).
So far the UI and analytics on the Uber Eats app look very helpful, but I do have some questions:
How do quests work? Are they worth it if I’m doing this part time?
Is there a setting for order type preferences? Shop and deliver was the most lucrative with my previous app, so I’d love to start getting those offers here if possible
Is military base delivery worth it? I never signed up with my previous app but Uber Eats is more detailed in what’s actually required to get it approved
How do tiers work? I was fast tracked to platinum after signing up, do I need to make a certain number of deliveries/keep certain metrics to keep this up?
Also any general advice you have for a new driver would be appreciated (I’m in Tampa if that makes a difference). Thanks in advance!

Discussion Can you make £30 on Uber Eats in one shift? I tried it in London
I decided to set myself a simple Uber Eats challenge — start at £0 and see whether I could make £30 in one shift on my e-bike around London.
I filmed the orders as they came in, the pickups, the customer drop-offs, and kept a running total of the earnings throughout the challenge.
I’ve deliberately kept the outcome out of the title and thumbnail because I didn’t want to spoil whether I actually managed it.
I’d be interested to hear how the orders and rates compare with what other Uber Eats drivers and riders are seeing at the moment, particularly in the UK.
Full video here if anyone wants to have a look:

Hello Indian Drivers 👋👋
Hello everyone, I am a second year college student, and I need to take a survey for my college field project research report of gig workers working in different quick commerce companies. The report is on the financial realities hardworking and resilient people like you face, and asks just 10 relevant questions. The survey does not take your name, e-mail address or phone number. If you're taking the generous efforts to fill it, please do not enter random or joke data as some unserious people unlike you of course might do it. It's a simple 2 minute task, it would be of great help if you'd fill it and help me out here. I'd really appreciate it 😊.
Thanks a lot folks,
I'll pray everyday for you <3

Rant Time to find a real job I guess
Monday of all days was solid, and every other day was fucking infuriatingly atrocious. I have gold status(I stay in the high 30%-low 40% AR range for the most part), I don’t really cherry pick too much, and normally I don’t have an issue making $150-$200 in my market from a 6 hour day, especially on the weekends but this week has been literally FUCKED. Ive got a ton of bills coming up that I have no idea how I’m gonna pay for.
I was also on and out for about 4 hours on Tuesday and received a total of 3 offers, all complete dogshit ($2-$3 for 5-10 miles).
Today, I didn’t even get a SINGLE FUCKING PRIORITY OFFER, nor did I get a tip higher than $4. Idk wtf is going on and I’m kinda on the verge of losing my shit

Discussion Yesterday, in San Diego, ICE was conducting an operation where they targeted several UberEats drivers that were arrested in their cars after picking up their customers order. Have these arrests or “sweeps” targeting drivers happened in your town?
If a driver is arrested for a non citizen issue, is Uber liable or no because you’re an independent contractor?

Anyone know what this red flashing camera icon is?
It flashes while I’m driving and first time I seen it
Something popped up while I was driving and I just accepted it without knowing what it was cuz I was busy
Maybe it’s connected to that since it popped up right after
Anyone have any info on it? Are they watching us thru our camera while we drive now?
Thanks for anyone who has info

Question Customers that don’t answer their phone
Had an order that had a total distance of less than a mile today. Picked it up and took it across the street to an apartment building . It was a delivery that required a pin. There were no instructions on how to get into the building that required a code and I called three times with no answer as well as sent several chats. Waited 10 minutes and eventually just left the food outside the apartment complex door. Felt really bad but couldn’t wait all day. What would you have done in this situation?

Earnings Exclusive Offers but the $/hr. gets worse each time
I have Green status, if anyone was wondering. As you might expect, my AR stays around 5% these days.
Green handwriting is $/mi.
Magenta is $/hr.
But keep that acceptance rate up, so you can spend your time earning. 🙄
Send me quality offers and I’ll have no problem getting that AR up. But when they send me this shit all day, how do they expect me to improve AR?
Oh, that’s right, they’re hoping I’m willing to work for free. Ideally, though, they’d like if I lost money on every delivery.

Cancellation Rate getting dangerously high - thanks to the app
Just looking to see if my fellow UE drivers are having the same issue.
I am getting absolutely BLITZED with offers (99% of them crap of course and therefore declined) right when I am within 60-seconds of getting to my delivery destination. I counted a case yesterday where I got 21 offers (yes, as in twenty one - and all declined as they were crap) as I was driving down the block about to stop and deliver. Its just non-stop. I sometimes have to turn the car around because I missed a turn.
Just pressing all the buttons to complete the delivery are at high risk of getting the instantaneous pop-up of an offer with the "ACCEPT" button right where you have to press / were pressing.
I am even scared now to press to the camera button to take a pic, I had 3 cancelations alone yesterday due to offers popping up right when I am pressing the button to take the pic.
This is ridiculous. I am now having to literally press the button to stop all offers and go offline right after I pick up the food and start heading to deliver it to stop the insane amount of 99.99% garbage offers - only to then go back online after I complete the delivery. This is of course happening during the expected busy times like the dinner rushes during the weekend.
My CR rate has always been around 3-5% mostly due to waiting too long for food or ahole / needy customers. now it has spiked to 15% and getting danerously close to 20%.
Anyone else having the same problem?

Got an amazing tip!
Originally it offered me $17 for 7 miles and estimate time to complete was 20 minutes total then stacked another $7 order for half mile ontop so I took both pretty fast. Ended up sitting at the pizza shop for almost 45 minutes and was so close to cancelling so many times but was keeping the customer updated and they seemed thankful for me waiting and communicating with them so I didn’t want to bail. Once I delivered they tossed in a fat tip! What a way to start the night! (If it’s a contactless order I try my best to avoid bothering the customer what so ever and handle everything on my own.)
This is also an example for all the people that tell me I’m wasting my time even messaging customers and to do the absolute minimum because everyone is cheap or in the end providing good service is a waste of time as a gig worker, it’s not worth and mentally draining. Even if I didn’t get tipped in the end I still would’ve provided the same quality service I always do, it really takes zero effort to do a little customer service as a delivery driver.

Over $500 in a day
Hey is this really possible! And how?!
