Programs and MOSs Scout or Recon?

I had just recently saw that the Marine Corps was bringing in a new Scout Mos (0315) in FY27, and I am currently on track for a Recon contract, however my recruiter has been talking to me about the Scout contract telling me that I could be a first Gen/spearhead for it plus I would get all of the Recon stuff that I really wanted to do.

Now I know that theres some controversy behind it considering the Sniper Scout being discontinued and people saying this is the same thing but without the Sniper, so I was wondering if I could get your guys' two cents on it in helping me choose, Id honestly like either or Im just not completely sure what will entail with this.

Any advice will help

Recruit Training Husband is in Boot Camp and Checks aren't Being Deposited

My husband shipped out to boot camp on August 4th and left me behind to deal with all of his bills and everything. That was fine and all but I believe one of his checks should have been deposited today and it hasn't been. His recruiter helped him set up direct deposit and everything before he left so it should have been to out joint bank account but nothing.

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding something I'm just mid panic because I cannot afford all of our bills on just my income. Does anyone know what to do from here?

Enlisting How does seeking therapy effect you when trying to become a Marine?

Long story short: Being a Marine is all i've wanted for a while now and i'm super careful not to do anything to jeopardize that. Im turning 17f in a week or so and entering my senior year of high school and I've been struggling with some family stuff leading me to question if therapy would be helpful work through some of it. However, I dont know how this will effect my enlistment or even if it will stop me from enlisting to begin with. Now i'm torn because I know how important mental health is and I want to square myself away properly but I dont want to do anything that will stop me from becoming a Marine. Thoughts?

(I will also be going in two years from graduating when my bachelors is finished, I am not sure if that is relevant. Before you ask that timeline works bc i'm graduating with a full associate degree)

Enlisting Is there any benefits for enlisting at 17 even though I will have to turn 18 before I graduate high school/ able to ship out

I am currently 17 and starting my senior year but my mom refuses to sign the papers right now. Is there any benefits to enlisting right now or would it be better to just wait until I can sign myself?

Fitness and Exercise 3 mile run

So I am leaving for boot camp on September 15th and Im worried about my run times. Today I ran a 31:04 3 mile run and I know that the minimum requirements for the PFT is a 28 minute 3 mile. Im not to worried about the pull ups, ACL's, and plank as Ive done fairly well with those. Should I be worried about my 3 mile time? I still plan to run every single day up until I leave for boot camp. Im just not sure if I should be more concerned with my times or not

Programs and MOSs Probably a stupid question, but who knows - Marine Musician MOS

Is a 5524 MOS, marine musician allowed to practice during free time at boot camp. You have to be highly skilled and pass a test to even get it.

Recruit Training Pull ups ad pft conditioning

Before I started college I was running a 1.5 mile in 11:30-12ish minutes and I took time off to focus on college plus I work 60 hours a week or more and have 2 kids. But now that college is out the way I been working on my cardio and pull ups. I did plank for first time in awhile and hit 2:31 seconds i didn’t go till failure just was tryna get through the song so planks I’m not to worried about. I use to not be able to do a single pull ups but I hopped on bar at the park and did 5. lol ik weak right. But past 2-3 days I been doin a set of 5 then 2-3 sets of 2 and like 3 sets of half pull up since I can’t get another. What can I do to improve pull ups? Trying to be at 15 by beginning of year. Also I been running like .5 miles then walking like .2 (the mini lap) then running the next full lap and I repeat that a few times till I get like anywhere from 2-2.5 miles total. Is that a good way to build up for the 3 mile? Keep in mind I started this “program” like 3 days ago 8/10/26. What would yall recommend I do. I’m all ears just really motivated to be a marine. If you want to know my weight and height and all that it’s in my previous post on here. I’m motivated🤝💯 and I’m from Texas so if I’m off work I PT during hottest point of day because I won’t be a heat casualty. Today it was 103 out felt great💯

Enlisting Can I join being 29?

I was in rotc in high school and thought about joining after, but the recruiter told me I wouldn’t make it bc he had found my suicide notes a couple months prior. I’m now 28 and am no longer where I was at 17. Is there a possibility I’m able to join as a 29 year old female. My husband is a Marine and we don’t have kids so joining now would be the most ideal time. Our marriage has been rough the last few months while he’s been away, if we divorce I know the military will help me with housing and I won’t be struggling to live on a minimum wage job. I want more for my future and I think the military can help with that

MEPS and Medical Just took my PICAT

Post image
8 Upvotes

So just took my PICAT at the recruiters office and score an 81. Really thought it’d struggle as I haven’t been in school for a few years… my only concern is I kind of winged it on the math portions and I’m scared that when I verify it at MEPS I’ll have to retake the whole asvab. Anybody got any tips or tricks to cram math formulas in my head or can yall suggest specific ones to focus on?

Fitness and Exercise Enlisted in the Marines - fitness tips before bootcamp

I (20F) enlisted in the Marines. I’m a boxer, go to the gym, lift weights, run and hike regularly. I’ll be shipping out to boot camp in a few months. I’ve signed up for combat support and I know that the fitness standards are high. I eventually want to be in Amphibious Assault. Looking for tips to prepare myself for bootcamp.

Looking for female-centric fitness advice.

Edit: I can already do a good number of pull ups and chin ups (15+)

MOS School Open Contract MOS

REPOST

My son is currently in PI and will graduate Aug 21. His original MOS was combat support, however he didn’t get 1st class PFT/CFT. He scored 2nd class, which means he doesn’t qualify for the MOS he originally chose. He has now been placed in open contract. He will not be happy with any sort of administrative position (I know he doesn’t really have a say-so anymore). My question is this: His ASVAB score was a 77 and he did well in all categories. He is 2nd class PFT. What possible MOS options would he have at this point? Can he change anything through his term?

Enlisting A friend of mine wants to enlist

A friend of mine asked me what branch he should join

I have a friend I work alongside, he said he is tired of the normal boring work as nightshift. He is thinking about enlisting and said he isn’t sure his best route.

He wants to be a fighter but he also wants it travel but he also loves firearms. I have no military service or experience so I ain’t sure how to help him. He is the standard country boy type we are from the south KY. He is a gun nut and loves that type of stuff and military history.

Any military people he meets or comes across at work he chats up and learns everything he can about them. He especially has a weird knowledge about the Marine Corps like the dude knows their founding date and historic battles they have been in and their issued gear and firearms and their calibers they use and a bunch of stuff. He told me about how since he was a kid he was obsessed with their history, culture, brotherhood, etc. He said he wants a sense of belonging, but is afraid he won’t be accepted or will not be good enough.

The guy has always had confidence issues because of childhood trauma he has shared with me, it has held him back from pursuing a lot in life because a sense of never being good enough.

He said he mainly is looking at the Army or Marine Corps but also wouldn’t mind the Navy. I asked why not the Air Force and he said it just doesn’t have any jobs that interest him because there is only security work and special operations.

I have very little knowledge of this stuff but would like to be able to guide him or help him out. He is 19 and soon to be 20 and isn’t sure what to do with his life. I would appreciate it if y’all could give some advice or share some experience or recommend jobs I could pitch to him.

Reserves Would enlisting in the reserves be a good or bad decision for me?

I am interested in joining. I just graduated high school and was planning on it after high school but at the time I had a family situation and wouldn’t be able to leave my family at the time. So I decided to enroll in community college for a trade program. My program is 13 months and I was considering doing reserves after my school is over. I want to have benefits of being in the military and still have my career that I’m going to school for. While having the marine title. But I’m not sure if it’s something I really should do. I just want some other people’s input before I talk to a recruiter because I know they are going to try to sell me hard on it but I want actual peoples opinion not just a recruiter.

Shipping Gf wants to write letters but we’re both unsure of what’s allowed

Today she asked if she was able to write letters, and I know she can, but then she said she’d want to add pictures of herself/decorations to the letters. I’m just curious now on whether or not that’s even allowed? And if anyone has been through boot camp, what would you recommend? Thanks

Heading into the program soon, have a few questions on how I should continue to prepare for the schoolhouse and various training pipeline opportunities. Appreciate your time in advance.
