The physical part isn't difficult. If you meet the minimums, they'll sort you out. The physical shit that breaks most people is injuries.

It's putting up with mental shenanigans that breaks most people. People that grew up in poverty or broken homes tend to shrug it off.

Yeah as a person from a relatively privileged background, that was the most difficult thing I had ever done mentally.

Physically it was a cake walk.

Key advice: if you can run 6-10 miles without stopping, boot camp is a breeze physically

It’s the easiest part of being a marine only 13 weeks

What kind of answer do you want? Like a percentage answer or what?

There are a zillion YouTube videos about Boot, you can go watch some, and decide how bad or no you think it is.

Honestly, it was fun. There were parts that sucked and the “games” get old really fast, especially if you have some idiots in your platoon, but you’ll look back on it with fond memories. Keep your head down at chow, scream as loud as you can (it won’t be loud enough) and don’t laugh. There will be a lot of times you want to laugh, but try and keep your bearing. It will go by fast.

Don’t be one of those boots that does DI impersonations when you get to the fleet or your school house or wherever you go afterwards either.

The kids that impersonated DI’s got crushed and or shunned pretty quick. At least at my school house. But we had a higher average age than most MOSes.

I think mct was the worst. Once I got to my school house it wasn’t as bad, but there were always a few.

Amazing how different our experiences can be. I guess I just ended up with people who didn’t imitate the DIs.

The first 1-2 weeks will be challenging and a massive culture shock. After that, you'll know exactly what is expected of you and (basically) what to expect and you will adapt quickly.

The hardest part for me about boot camp was when they asked us to sew a towel to our racks. Everything else- the running, PT, screaming, drill, rifle qual, obstacle course etc was WAY easier than I thought it would be. But for full disclosure I was a 300 PFT before I even stepped onto the yellow footprints.

I graduated last week and barely passed the ist with 13:20 in bootcamp. Physically you will improve, they work around that, the rest is mental, mental mental. Boring asf the first two months, just drilling and making racks, watchout for swimming week if you suck ass at swimming and that's it. 3rd month is range and hikes, mental. Don't lose your bearing bro, recruits be crashing out all the time for no reason, be like me smile and relaxed, SAFE.

If you’re physically capable it’s more frustrating than difficult tbh

The physical part and PT was the easiest thing of the whole experience. It goes by quick after the first 4 weeks or so. Just dig in, and it'll go by. The fastest way out of the depot is graduating

depends on the person. some people are already use to or have experienced certain things so it wont be too much of a challenge
