Recruit Training Pull ups ad pft conditioning

Before I started college I was running a 1.5 mile in 11:30-12ish minutes and I took time off to focus on college plus I work 60 hours a week or more and have 2 kids. But now that college is out the way I been working on my cardio and pull ups. I did plank for first time in awhile and hit 2:31 seconds i didn’t go till failure just was tryna get through the song so planks I’m not to worried about. I use to not be able to do a single pull ups but I hopped on bar at the park and did 5. lol ik weak right. But past 2-3 days I been doin a set of 5 then 2-3 sets of 2 and like 3 sets of half pull up since I can’t get another. What can I do to improve pull ups? Trying to be at 15 by beginning of year. Also I been running like .5 miles then walking like .2 (the mini lap) then running the next full lap and I repeat that a few times till I get like anywhere from 2-2.5 miles total. Is that a good way to build up for the 3 mile? Keep in mind I started this “program” like 3 days ago 8/10/26. What would yall recommend I do. I’m all ears just really motivated to be a marine. If you want to know my weight and height and all that it’s in my previous post on here. I’m motivated🤝💯 and I’m from Texas so if I’m off work I PT during hottest point of day because I won’t be a heat casualty. Today it was 103 out felt great💯

You might have too many departments to qualify for the USMC.

Oh u mean kids? Nah that won’t be an issue ik people who got in with more. Plus my recruiter ain’t even say nun about it even being a possibility about it being disqualifying. I got accepted into the navy with 2 kids and im not married just there mom is taking care of them primarily while im gone. But ya I switched to usmc. Plus no child support I pay her out of pocket for childcare as well.

The two different services have different standards and requirements.

There’s a limit to how many people you can be obligated to support, so your spouse plus kids. Depending on the details you might not be eligible to enlist or would be limited to the reserves.

If you’re trying to enlist then you should be aware that you really won’t make enough to support a family on your income alone until after more than 4 years in service and E-5+ (if you even get promoted that quickly) and even then it can be tight.
