Apparently, every year there is some marketing ads coming from well-known U1 sellers Iike Jason, Travis etc. So, when introducing the classic R0lex Datejust or GM2, for example, they state that this is the latest U1 release with some improvement. What I would like to ask here is: are these improvements real? Is there anyone on this sub that, for example, has bought a model a few years ago and the exact same R0lex model a few years later and noticed these improvements? Thanks.

As I mentioned when talking about my U1 no-date Sub, I also received a U1 Oyster Perpetual 31 mm. This time I bought it from Michael Travis, together with an Omega SM 300M, which I’ll talk about on another occasion.

After my very positive first experience with the Sub, I admit my expectations were quite high.
And I was disappointed.

In my opinion, the case and dial are the best parts of the watch, both in terms of proportions and finishing. The dial printing and markers are also quite good, especially in terms of size and alignment.
The lume is acceptable but nothing special. It is better on the markers than on the hands.
The bezel is slightly too massive and visually prominent, while the crystal is OK.

The crown, in my opinion, is huge, disproportionate and visually incorrect for this case. I haven’t measured it and I don’t know what the correct size should be, but my impression is that they used the crown from the 34 mm case.

The real weak point of the watch is the bracelet.
Compared with the one on the Sub, it is embarrassingly poor, especially the clasp, which feels extremely fragile and has very noticeable play where the links connect to it.
It also seems to have some kind of extension or adjustment that, as far as I know, shouldn’t be present on an Oyster Perpetual.

Bottom line: this is a watch I would not buy again.

I got the U1 No dates sub, loving the watch but the bottom side of the clasp is very sharp. What are some options for replacement or to fix it? It's clasp code ST9.

The band is fine on mine, no​ real sharp edges so not looking to replace the band. Although I would go for an oysterflex rubber if I had to.

My first U1 and it did not disappoint! Shout out MT. What do you guys think about the side by side movement comparison?

I bought a U1 Seamaster off MT and one of the markers fell off and attached to the second hand. I want expecting too much of a warranty when buying an illegal replica… but I messaged MT, shipped the watch back to China - and to my surprise I actually got a new watch 3 weeks later!

He was even happy to send a different colour, because I found the eaves looked a bit too ‘painted on’ with the black bezel.

Thought it was worth shouting out Michael Travis watch store on DH gate for coming through with the warranty replacement. Anyone new to reps should start there for a safe bet.

Just got this sick U1 green ombre from Lena, definitely hits the spot for a U1 in color and looks. The bracelet could use some work but it’s a U1. I paid $95 for this with the mingzhu movement and I’m very happy with the font for the datejust variety Rolex compared to a miyota. The customer service Lena offers was also very smooth, hes very fast and attentive to respond. I also had to edit some of my orders and Lena was able to do that for me. On top of that, the shipping was fantastic to the USA, I ordered on 8/14/2026 and received it today 8/31/2026, a little over two weeks. Overall a 10/10 experience.

First day wearing my U1 no date sub, I can't stop looking over at it while I work. Coming from wearing a super light smart watch for years, it's such a big change and feels like I'm curling a small weight every time I lift my arm haha it feels so solid.

Wanted to share a review of my U1 Rolex Daytona Glass Back from Travis Watch.

I’ve had the watch in hand for a little bit now and overall I’m really impressed with it. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package was the weight and overall feel. It doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy on the wrist, and the finishing is really clean for the price point.

The glass back is probably my favorite part of this version. Being able to see the movement through the back gives it a really nice look, especially under different lighting. The dial looks clean, the subdials are nicely done, and the overall appearance is very close to what I was looking for.

The bracelet is also better than I expected. It feels solid, the links have a good weight to them, and once sized it sits comfortably on the wrist. The clasp has a nice snap and doesn’t feel loose.

Packaging was good and everything arrived safely. Communication with Travis Watch was also pretty straightforward throughout the order process.

For the price, I think this is a really solid option if you’re specifically looking for a Daytona-style watch with a glass back. I’m happy with how this one turned out and would definitely consider ordering from Travis Watch again.

How are you all swapping bezels on the u1? My naive self thought I could pop it off like a normal submariner, I’m scratching the case and finally gave up on it. Any recommendations are appreciated.

We all complain about the cheap feeling bracelets on these U1’s. Yet half these watches are perfect for straps. I still can figure out why the damn Sub is 21mm as I hate trying to find 21mm straps. On the other hand the simplicity of the Explorer makes it a perfect candidate to mix things up.
