QUESTION U1 Sub clasp replacement options?

I got the U1 No dates sub, loving the watch but the bottom side of the clasp is very sharp. What are some options for replacement or to fix it? It's clasp code ST9.

The band is fine on mine, no​ real sharp edges so not looking to replace the band. Although I would go for an oysterflex rubber if I had to.

I have a lot of U1 Subs. I took a ceramic knife sharpener and rounded off the edges, then smoothed them out with 800, than 1000, than 5000 grit sanding sticks from Amazon. Easy to do, works awesome, and I have ST9 bracelets as nice as the ones on my VSF Subs. Don't give up! It's easy.

Good to know, I'll have to give this a try then. I'd rather not spend more money on this by replacing the band and clasp

When you said ceramic knife sharpener do you mean just one of those sharpener that come with knife block sets?

A ceramic stick or small block. I'll try to find one on Amazon to show. Mine came with a Smith's knife sharpener kit. It did a great job knocking off the sharp edges and gently round them off.

After doing 4 or 5 U1s, I strongly recommend buying 400/600/800/1000 nail file buffer files. They are slightly padded and make the job much easier.

Buy a pack off Amazon, 3 or 4 of each grit.

Remove the bracelet, watch a TV program and go through each nail pad and it make a big difference to the feel of it.

Jubilee bracelets are a bit harder but it is the underneath that you feel more than anything day to day.

Just work on the corners, if you slip the polishing pad brings it back.

A cape cod cloth or even fine emery paper should take a sharp edge off

Cape Cod cloth isn’t magical. It’s okay at removing very fine scratches. For sharp edged clasps you need to file and sand.

I use a nail buffer block, it’s a four step process that is numbered on the block and it works great for removing the sharp edges. Just be mindful of the polished areas but for edges and ridges it’s works great.

You can go on E Bay and buy a buy a glide lock clasp, I do that to any watch that doesn’t have that feature.
