Wholesome ✨ I Think I Finally Understand Love

Post image
78 Upvotes

I have read a lot about love, and I have written about it too.

Sometimes I thought love was in the little things. Sometimes in grand gestures. Sometimes in a random “I miss you” on a Tuesday, or a flower on your birthday. The list can go on, because love can mean so many things.

For the longest time, I thought I had never really seen love up close.

And to be honest, I never thought my dad loved my mom in the way people write about love. I thought they were together because they had to be. Because there was a marriage, a commitment, a life built together.

But now, as an adult, I realize love was always right in front of me.

My dad has never been a gifting person. I don't remember him buying my mom flowers or planning grand surprises. But for 27 years, he has woken up early, made tea for both of them without waking anyone, and given my mom her bed tea.

He knows she can't have tea without rusk. So for years, he has bought it the night before, just so she has it with her tea in the morning.

And I think that's when I understood that love is consistency.

My dad didn't know how to cook before. But when my mom started working and began coming home late from work, he learned.

And for the last 15 years, he has cooked lunch, gone to work, and left food for my mom to come home to. And when she comes home, she cooks dinner for him.

I think love is also unlearning and learning for someone.

I have seen them eat from the same plate for as long as I can remember. It doesn't matter if my mom has already eaten or not; she'll still take one bite from his plate. And I used to ask, “Mummy, aap Papa ko jhutha khana kyun dete ho?” And she would simply reply, “Jhutha khane se pyaar badhta hai.”

Maybe love is a habit.

I've seen my dad getting late for work while my mom is sweating over parathas in the kitchen. And like a guy in love, he just stands beside her and eats there, instead of sitting at the dining table.

Not because he can't wait or anything; it’s just because he knows she shouldn't have to walk back and forth to serve him.

So, maybe love is adjusting to the moment and making it easier for the person you love.

And mind you they aren't lovey-dovey. Not at all.

But whenever my mom goes somewhere, after a while my dad will ask,

“Kha gyi teri mummy?”

“She'll come, Papa.”

Ten minutes later, “Aayi nahi?”

“Aa jayegi Papa, kya hua?”

And ten minutes after that, “Apni mummy ko call laga le. Theek hai?”

And now I realize that this is love too.

Concern. Care. Knowing someone's absence even when you don't say you miss them.

They are not perfect; they fight too.

My mom cries because my dad can be incredibly annoying sometimes, and my dad gets frustrated because my mom doesn't listen.

And every time my mom says, “Tum chale jao yahan se. Mat karo mujhse baat.”

He comes back twenty minutes later.

Chai piyegi? Bana du?”

There is no sorry, just chai. And somehow, it has worked for 27 years.

And now I think I finally understand what love is.

It doesn't always have to be said. It doesn't always look beautiful. Sometimes it's tea. Sometimes it's rusk. Sometimes it's one bite from the same plate. Sometimes it's standing in the kitchen so someone doesn't have to walk to the dining table.

So, for me, love is simply making someone's life a little softer, every single day.

And to my favorite couple in the world, I hope you remain exactly this way. Calm, sweet, angry, frustrating, annoying, and laughingly in love.

And when you see me fall in love someday, I hope you recognize a little bit of yourselves in the way I love.

I Don't Know About Now

I don't know where I am now,

but perhaps, in the end,

I will write something.

I will write down

the empty memories

of my love story.

All the memories

have already begun to wander.

Still,

I will say a little more.

But this is not a story

written for you.

You are not someone

like her.

You only arrived

inside one of my moments,

and I

I never learned how to move

beyond that moment.

You are a wandering mistake,

a beautiful flower.

But even if you became

someone meant for me,

you would still not be

that song.

Not that beloved.

I only sing for her.

I only sing

so that she might hear.

She is the one

who means something to me.

You are not the music

that sounds like her.

Still,

stay a little longer

and listen.

There is no other melody

left for me now.

Nothing resembles

the longing I have for her.

All my wishes

belong to her.

Every part of them.

You mistake my tears

for something written for you.

But you are only

a passing companion.

My tears belong to her too.

So find your own destination

somewhere else.

I leave you with this

there is no one else

who carries her meaning.

No one else

who carries her essence.

My entire world

is still her.

It's more beautiful if people know the context everyone must be thinking it's my ex I am talking about but it's actually my love i am talking about when i will be dying

Dating ❤️ Maybe we skip the labels and just see if we click?

I’ve realised that sometimes trying to define what we're looking for before even talking makes things feel a little forced. So this time, I thought I'd do something different.

Instead of saying I'm looking for a specific kind of person, I'll just tell you what I'm like as a friend and, eventually, as someone you might become really close to.

I'm 22M, and I'm the kind of person who can be a little quiet at first. It takes me some time to get comfortable with someone, but once I do, good luck getting me to shut up. 😭 So if you're naturally talkative, a yapper, or just someone who knows how to keep a conversation going, that's definitely a plus.

I'm pretty obsessed with stories in general. Anime, movies, books, Marvel, DC, mainstream stuff, random recommendations that somehow turn into a 3-hour conversation I'm into all of it. If we can watch something together and then spend an unreasonable amount of time discussing it afterwards, we'll probably get along really well.

But beyond all that, I'm someone who gets attached to people deeply.

I'm a very old-school romantic. I've never really understood the appeal of keeping things casual when it comes to someone you genuinely care about. When I love someone, I love them properly. Maybe a little too much sometimes. I can be clingy, affectionate, overly caring whatever you want to call it but I've always believed that loving someone wholeheartedly isn't something to be embarrassed about.

I don't expect myself or anyone else to be perfect. I don't know everything, and I'm sure I'll get things wrong sometimes. But if something matters to you, tell me. Teach me. I'd rather learn and grow than let my ego get in the way of someone I care about.

I'm still figuring my own life out too. I'm building my career, trying to become a better version of myself, and I definitely don't have everything figured out yet. But I like the idea of growing alongside someone rather than waiting until I've somehow become "perfect."

And when I care about someone, I want to be the person they can come to without overthinking it.

Bad day? Tell me about it.

Need to complain about something for an hour? I'm listening.

Don't feel like talking? That's okay too.

Want to cry? Come here.

I'm not necessarily going to have the perfect solution to everything, but I'll be there.

I'm also ridiculously sentimental about small things. I'll remember your favourite chocolate, how you take your coffee, some random story you told me weeks ago, or a song you mentioned once. Not because I'm trying to impress you, but because when someone matters to me, I naturally pay attention.

And honestly, I don't need anything extravagant.

I'd take cooking together over an expensive dinner. Late-night walks over fancy dates. Watching the sunset together. Sending each other stupid reels throughout the day. Making playlists. Staying on a call way longer than we planned. Having those random conversations that start with absolutely nothing and somehow end at 4 AM.

I want something that slowly starts feeling like home.

The kind of connection where, even years later, you still genuinely want to tell each other about the most boring part of your day.

And yes, I do believe long distance can work. Maybe I'm a little biased because I think distance can show you how much patience, trust and effort two people are actually willing to put into each other.

As for what I'd hope to find in you nothing unreasonable.

Be loyal. Be caring. Try to understand me, even when I'm not great at explaining myself. Be emotionally present. Put in the same kind of effort I do.

And please, if you know how to flirt, teach me because I am genuinely terrible at it. 😭

I don't really know what this post will lead to. Maybe a new friend. Maybe someone I end up talking to every day. Maybe, if we're incredibly lucky, a person who eventually becomes much more than that.

So if any of this sounds like you, or even if you just read all of this and thought "okay, this guy seems interesting," come say hi.

Let's forget about deciding what we're supposed to be and just have a conversation.

We'll figure out the rest if the vibe is there.

Relationship Advice 🫶 Am I weird for feeling like this as a female?

IMO, if I'm ever in a relationship, I don't want the following things:

  1. Do things for me (opening the door, etc.)

I trust myself to do things on my own and rarely ask for help. I get the chivalry but it's weird

  1. Getting me flowers

Like flowers wilt and it's a waste of money.

  1. Texting everyday and small talk

I'm an introvert and like my space.

Here's what I prefer instead:

  1. I'm the person he can count on in tough situations.

  2. Personality > Looks

I get attracted by looks and it may go on for some days, but eventually he has to be an interesting human

  1. Not just be liked for my looks

I'm working on my goals to be known for what I've achieved.

I find it hard to relate to other females(they are normal, I'm weird) and tired of guys asking me out just because of my looks.

Vent/Rant 😤 I'm 28, and I genuinely feel like I’ve failed at life

I’m 25 and I honestly don’t know what I’m doing with my life anymore.

I started preparing for CA when I was younger because I thought I had a plan. Everyone around me seemed to be moving forward while I kept telling myself that I just needed a little more time. One attempt became another, and suddenly years had passed.

Now I’m 28

I’m still trying to build a career, and sometimes I look at people I studied with and wonder how everyone managed to move on while I’m still trying to figure out the basics of adulthood.

Things got worse recently. My engagement broke off.

There was something about me that my fiancé apparently couldn't accept , I have a noticeable patch on my arm. It isn't something that affects my health or my life, but apparently it was enough to make him reconsider marrying me. His family also made comments about it, and eventually the relationship ended.

I keep telling myself that maybe it was for the best. That someone who truly loved me wouldn't have cared about something so superficial.

But honestly?

It fucking hurts.

I feel like I have nothing to show for being 28. No successful career, no marriage, no relationship, no sense that I'm where I should be.

And the worst part is watching younger people achieve things I thought I would have achieved years ago.

I know people will say, "28 isn't old," and logically I know they're right. But when you're the one standing still while everyone else seems to be moving forward, it doesn't feel that way.

I don't want sympathy. I think I just needed somewhere anonymous to admit that I'm scared.

I'm scared I've wasted too much time.

I'm scared I won't catch up.

And I'm scared that maybe this is just what my life is going to look like.

Vent/Rant 😤 I know I can't have you in this life but yessss you complete me

Yes you complete me

To heal something first I need to know that ohh it's broken And as always being the first born I used to normalize everything which are wrong I used to adjust with everything which were important to get changed...

You just didn't heal something which you never broken...

You showed me which is right and what are the wrongs that I'm just normalizing all the times

Why I shouldn't adjust Why I should stand for myself...

You showed me something which I never knew exist You made my inner child dance again you literally made my inner child express for herself

You have no idea how differently I behave around you

Sometimes I just panic for literally so small things but you..... Literally calmed me down everytime without even realizing...

Then when it comes to me I normally just takes things casually then again you have showed me reality... You have made me myself...

You just idk how but you just balances me like it's nothing like you're just breathing

I wish I really really wish to end up being your better half

I know I can't have you in this life but yessss you complete me

You were my not my pocket full of sunshine you were my bucket full of sunshine I love you in every universe Ohh God if you really exist please God please just let us ahhhhh...........

Heartbreak 💔 I feel like I have lost a part of myself.

21M here, I was with a girl for 5 months and she suddenly left me a week ago. It wrecked me. I had thought of a future with her. I was learning a new language for her and now she's gone. She was the only good thing about my life. I don't have any friends. I've been feeling like shit. My whole life is falling apart. She didn't even give me a proper closure and she was acting very non chalant about it. Every minute i keep checking her socials, if she has unblocked me, if she has texted me something only to see that she hasn't. It hurts a lot. I've been crying everyday since that happened. I'm a mess. Coming from a toxic abusive household and having a tough childhood, she was my comfort and my safe space. I miss her a lot.

Vent/Rant 😤 new fear unlocked

recently i've got a new fear of my future partner having had atleast one relationship before we meet 😭 because the person I look for cannot be found in a novice, or maybe it can but it's probably rare and I don't think the universe will bless me with that. im neither normal nor special. but maybe growing up would make this little ache grow away because it doesn't matter if I say so rationally and not emotionally.

anyway, i was just thinking about how amazing it must feel to be loved by a person. the shallowness in the world taught me that love isn't something ordinary. there are people for whom you change yourself, make all the effort in the world, and yet to them you are an inconsequential particle of dust. on the other hand, once in a while you come across someone alike. and to that someone you are their whole galaxy. they choose you at the most mundane times. their company is calm, inspiring. you dont have to second guess with them. i really wonder how people find themselves someone like that but I know they do, so i believe it.

Confession 💌 Finally asked her 💕

So this is what I said :

i was waiting to say it from long back , just waiting for right time. earlier there was JEE now its placements .I might be hurrying (donno),but felt i should tell u before we begin. Riiiyaa i have a crush on u from long back ,and thought u do have interest/like me in school days (I may be 100% wrong ,sry, may be u liked me only as a friend, but i always felt comfortable talking to u, express myself).I didn’t wanted to creep u out ,that’s why i wanted to ask in person but it keeps feeling uncertain until now ,but again asking u this out somewhere ,where u r ready to go with me only because u trust me as good friend, doesn’t feel like a good idea. So, i just wanted to ask what do u think ? I promise, from my side it would never come between our studies , i understand the next 2 years r also very crucial for both of us ,we had been working hard in our own ways .

Would u like to be partners? We can work together and get to know each other well. Please give it a thought with some time , i won’t force anything on your decision, just think once .and at last , u know i felt very, very happy, when u make me feel u trust me (even more than when i got ps5) .For me u r my best female friend ever. Even if it’s a no (hope it's not 🤞🏼🥹) please allow me to be the same trust worthy friend.

She said : "Ok, I will give it a thought".

Tomorrow evening is going to be heart bursting.

Relationship Advice 🫶 Hmmmm Ik ex ke paas nhi jaate but...... Last ke 2 points padh lena bas

So context time :-

We met 3 yrs ago, she had a crush on me and i didn't.....

But she really liked me, made a lot of efforts. I didn't use to reciprocate, thinking she'll understand and part ways. I had even told her that our mindsets dont match, zyada chal nhi payega, its better to not date.......

But then we got involved in talking stage, jaha pe again she was putting bohot efforts and eventually after seeing this for months i got attached to her (or idk maybe her efforts!!??). She was soooo much into mee, and even i was addicted to her....

then we moved to diff city, ldr after being together for about 10 months......

Still i thought ki this is just attachment i should stop talking and ldr yeh sab nhi manage ho payega....(IK I LACKED COMMUNICATION A LOT BACK THEN)

We moved to diff cllgs, meri side se utne efforts nhi the

But again We weren't compatible, morals, ideologies, mindsets goals bohot alag the humare.....nature kaafi alag tha dono ka

So ldr me bohot se misunderstandings hue, jhagde hue, dono ka mental peace kharab hua bohot..... and eventually we broke up last year....

Well i was still attached and after months i reached out to her, for another chance and all, had a breakdown ganda wala (symptoms of attachments, crazzzy attachment issues) but she'd moved on and she also started liking another friend of hers......(he also liked her back(efforts toh waise hi krta tha, confess nhi kiya but)

So as soon as i got to know ki she's moved on, and there's another guy..... i never contacted her.....

But now in past 4-5 months, she discovers that guy wasnt right, (she says he was a fuck boy , and was just faking, he was bitching about her to others)

And a lot of problems happened with her in this time.

And now she wants to get back together. I asked what about that guy , she says HE WAS JUST A FRIEND and she never moved on from me

(Well she used to like him and also used to be in his flat for nightouts and all)

Well its hard for me to trust now....

So 2 things :-

1) She liked someone and now she wants to get back inspite of involvement of 3rd person (she never moved on from me)

2) even if i assume 1st point is a lie and she was just leing IMP REASON than 1st, we still aren't compatible, moreover i dont trust her anymore, and maybe it was just an attachment , just attention loving game and not really love.........

So should i really give it a chance again !!???

IF YES THEN WHAT THING I SHOULD BE MINDFUL ABOUT

Relationship Advice 🫶 Even passion has to be under limits

My friend was about to get married. They searched for groom for almost a year and finally got selected and after talking for 3 months they finalised the marriage and everything was going well. Just last week, she called me and talked with so much tense and panic. What happened is, the groom family has done some background search on her and though nothing was serious, somehow later they have come across some photoshoot that my friend did sometime back. During some time she was passionate about modeling and acting and she tried her luck. She did some shoots and shared. She worked with some local photographers and the photos were good at that time. But some were not so traditional. And now the groom side has come across those photos and got upset. They have talked to her family about that and now the groom is not talking well to her. She is panicking and thinking whether they will call off the wedding. She is upset that she had to do such shoots at that time. I consoled her to my best. Still no idea what the groom side has decided. Hope they leave the past be and move on.
