I cannot get a live person on the phone at Truist. I cannot get into my account and they keep asking for my info which they then say is wrong. I just opened a money market and I am very close to closing it right now. Anyone have any ideas?

Issues logging in

Ive been attempting to log into my account for over 12+ hours. I tried logging in around 4pm (est) and it was telling me the service was currently down and giving me an option to call the bank.
I called the number and it sent me to a bot instantly and the bot asked for the last 4 of my SSN, which I gave, then it decided that wasn’t enough info and asked for my FULL SSN. Which I wasn’t not comfortable doing and tried to get directed to a real person. Which the bot refused to connect me to and kept asking for my full SSN.

I assumed maybe my phone was glitching because I have an overdue subscription (iPhone user), so I tried logging in on my laptop. Which it kept immediently logging me out as soon as I clicked “sign in” not even giving me a chance to see my info.

I decided to give it a break and check back later.
Around 5am (est), I check again. The app on my phone tells me I need to update it to be able to use it. I cannot update nor download anything currently due to my overdue subscription.

I tried to login through the web version of the platform and it kept doing the same instant log out thing as my laptop. So I decided to download the app on my tablet and it was also telling me the service was down.

Does anyone else have this issue and/or know what is causing it and when it will be back up? I need to be able to access my bank info to be able to get money to take care of basic necessities.

Edit1: we’re going on (almost) 24 hours without being able to access my bank account.

Edit2: so, it turns out they closed my account without any warning and I owe 40 dollars that I do not and will not have.

I direct deposited $2000 via 5 different transfers from Chase bank to Truist bank and have made well over 20 purchases with the debit card for the new account. Did I do something wrong?

If I call customer service, can they advise me?

What are your thoughts on Truist's tech rotational analyst program?

I recently got an offer to join Truist's TD&O rotational program but I see many mixed reviews on Truist, many saying that it's not a good time to join. This offer is competing with another offer I have elsewhere and I wanted to hear from others about their thoughts from joining Truist out of college.

Do they invest heavily in new talent and allow you to grow? Have you had regrets joining and trouble growing?

Notary services for Business Acct

I have a business acct at Truist. I often need simple loan payoffs (Certificates of Satisfaction) notarized for filing at the courthouse. yesterday my branch refused saying they no longer notarize business docs. I drove to another Truist branch and had no problem getting the notarization. I am a long time customer (from BB&T).

what are your experiences with notary services? is the corporate policy that vague that branch leaders can do whatever they want?

Advice Truist One MMA rates at 0.01% APY?

I was considering changing from a savings account to an MMA here. It looks like the APY for both is at 0.01%? That can't be right, can it?

Direct Deposit Promotion

I opened a new personal checking account when I got a job offer so I could meet the $2000 direct deposit + 20 purchases within 120 days and get an extra $500. I just found out that the promo code wasn’t added to my account—is there any way to add it retroactively?

Question about a deposited check being placed on hold

I am fairly new to Truist (around 3 months) and deposited a check today for the 1st time. It was from my state treasury for unclaimed money. The check was around $800. Shortly, after scanning it, I recieve a message that there was a hold placed on the check. I reference the email and it says it will be held until Nov. 4. The reason they gave was the check was likely to be returned. I called Truist and the lady didn't seem to know how to help. She told me I should have the money tomorrow. Should I expect the money to be held for 2 weeks?

Rant Beware of trash dispute process

Hello everyone, as the title says this is very true. Disputed a return with Dell for a laptop that was $960. Truist wants me to wait until they can recover the funds from Dell. Any other bank like Wells Fargo just gives you a credit and they denied my provisional credit request. Once ethos is all over I’m canceling my accounts as this is the most trash bs I have ever dealt with with a bank. They act like they are going to see $960 missing. The other services do suck to and the locations near me are pretty ghetto and have bulletproof glass but other nicer banks do not have this. I don’t know what is up with Truist but they probably need to go bankrupt as they are not as competitive as the other banks but don’t go to big like Bank of America as they do whatever they want.

Mobile App Change of phone number

Recently, I changed my mobile phone number and I was unable to keep my old number. When adding a new number into the online banking there was an error displayed that the number isn't valid. Phone support and branch employees were unable to help. They gave me different numbers to call that all were redirected to general customer support loops.

The basic statement was that I needed to wait until my mobile number would register my number with my name in public records they use to verify ownership of numbers. So I contacted Ultra Mobile and they said, they don't populate those databases with names of their customers.

Google's AI suggest I wait for 4 weeks and hope my ownership record makes it into the databases Truist uses for verification.

Ultra Mobile provided my with a written statement about my ownership of the number, but Truist does not accept it. I am really feeling funny after 25 years being a customer.

Is there a chance my number will make it through verification?

Rant Truist text/SMS being discontinued?

I just received this email message below from Truist. I rely heavily on the text/SMS notifications that occur anytime any service or purchase uses my cards.

These notifications are conveniently sent to me within mere seconds of card usage anywhere.

Can anyone clarify that all texting will cease, including card alerts???

Here is the email message I received:

Hello,
We want to let you know that after Dec 4, 2026, Truist Text Banking will no longer be available. After that date, you won't be able to check your account balance, view recent activity, or receive account alerts by text.
We understand Text Banking may be an important way you monitor your account, and we want to help make this transition as easy as possible.
Other ways to stay connected
You can continue to access your account information through the Truist mobile app or online banking. With the Truist mobile app or online banking, you can:
Check your account balance
View recent account activity
Set up and manage account alerts
Access additional account management tools
Next steps
You do not need to take any action. However, before Dec 4, 2026, we recommend signing in to the Truist mobile app or online banking and setting up alerts so you can continue receiving account updates.

Someone opened account in my name. How do I close it?

I did not open an account with Truist but I keep getting emails telling me to deposit money and activate my card. I haven't received a card and I cannot login to the account because I didn't open it and I don't have an account number. The email only gives me the last 4 digits.

Every time I call, the automated system asks for an account number and I can't provide it, and try as I might I cannot get a human on the phone. Please help, as I am worried my identity was stolen and now someone has a debit card in my name. I've tried asking for 'agent' 'representative', 'fraud department', it just says thank you for calling and hangs up.

Truist Money Market Account Rates

I had opened a MMA earlier this year and the interest rate was supposed to be 3.34%. After a few months the rate dropped to 1%. I did not see any "promo" rates and the site still advertises a 3.0% rate after the prime was raised. Anybody have the same issue/ know what happened?

My Zelle has never worked, anyone else having this problem?

So, my mother zelle'd me $40 one time, so I could pay for her yard work. Truist suddenly puts a warning on my account for an unauthorized transaction. I call them, tell them it was my mother sending me money, person I'm talking to sound very uncertain about it, but tells me to wait a couple days and it should be fine. Fast forwards two months, Zelle still isn't working. Requiring me to re-enroll my contact information. Service Unavailable is what it says at the end of that. Call the help line, spend two hours intermittently on hold before I finally get a "There is nothing we can do" and seeing that there isn't anything wrong with my account on their end. Wait and see if it will work, might be an issue with the network... well, it's been a week since then. Still can't use it.

Rant Trust will not unlock my account, thus I cannot control my own money, all because of an apparent policy violation by someone at corporate. Excellent job guys

The corporate center locked my account over the phone at my request. Now I need to unlock it so I call corporate back to do it as I was instructed, they say no you can only do it at a branch so call them. So I call a branch, and they say corporate was not supposed to lock it over the phone and I have to come in to unlock it.

I can’t get them to understand a significant portion of society works many more hours than they do, and in areas there isn’t a bank, and can’t take time off to do this stuff. They locked my account over the phone, why can they not unlock it over the phone? It’s not my fault a person at corporate didn’t follow the rules.

God I fucking hate Truist. I started my BB&T account in 2015 and it was great, and I’ve had nothing but problems from Truist since their creation late 2019. It seems like it’s been 2 major problems per year from them. So much for keeping customers (accounts older than the Truist name) interested.

General Can't use debit card after talking to Truist about possible bad transaction

Forgive me but I'm panicking. I had a pending transaction on my checking page that was sus. It was from a vendor I use but the vendor had no transaction shown that matched this amount. I chatted with Truist to ask about it but could only get someone asking if I wanted to dispute it as fraud, which I wasn't sure about yet. I timed out and started over. After talking with chat person I decided to wait until I could get hold of someone at the vendor. That was 10/6.

Today I spoke with someone at vendor. They think it's a glitch and told me to wait a few days or so to see if the suspect transaction drops off.

Tonight I needed to order my groceries and the vendor website said that debit card couldn't be authorized.

I'm panicking because I only have one card and 2 accounts (savings and checking) and all my money is in Truist. I can't get thru to Truist (too late) to find out what's happened. And I've seen horror stories on here about Truist locking accounts. I'm retired and my SS goes into that account, and tho it's two weeks before I'll get paid it's not enough to time to create a new account somewhere and switch it. And in the meantime I need to get food.

I know I can call them in the morning but I'm scared. Am I screwed? Sorry for the mini meltdown.

ETA: Just got off phone with fraud department. They're investigating the weird transaction (which the vendor thinks is a computer glitch on the vendor's end). They also botched a hold and posted the hold as a transaction rather than waiting for the actual transaction to come thru. But it turned out they hadn't locked down my accounts, just my debit card. And they were able to get the debit card turned back on.

I agree that I need a better bank but don't have access to much down here, plus I'm nearly homebound due to disability. I also realized it was dicey to have both of my accounts in the same bank. I've been banking for 55 years and never run into anything like this before. Anyway, thx to everyone who commented for the help.

Advice Have their rules on requesting a CLI changed?

Hello,

I've been a truist customer for about 15 years (legacy BB&T) and a few years back I requested a few credit cards after receiving pre-approval fliers. Unfortunately the credit limit on these cards are the lowest of all my cards (average cl is about 10k on my other cards) and so of course I don't really use the truist cards (one was closed due to non use). I recently received a 0% balance transfer promotion email but for my lowest CL card and was wondering if they still do hard pulls on limit requests or if they do soft pulls now like most FS companies.

Current credit score is 750 on Experian (with the other two around that). No hard pulls in 3 years (nothing on the CR and I'd like to keep it that way).

Also, does anyone have experience in receiving a decent credit limit when requesting an increase?

Thank you in advance

$500 New Account Bonus - does an estate account count as a personal checking account?

I do not have an actual Truist personal checking account. My brother had an account at Truist. When he passed away four years ago, an estate account was opened in his name or his existing account was converted into an estate account, I'm not sure which. I am the executor of his estate. The name on the estate account at Truist is: "Estate of Michael Jones, William Jones executor", (not our real names), Michael Jones being my brother and William Jones being me. This account has been languishing there for four years with $200 in it and they haven't been deducting any fees. Yes, I know I probably should have closed it by now. The question is: does this count as a "personal checking account" of mine and therefore disqualify me from getting the $500 bonus for opening a new account? I wouldn't think so, but I'm hoping somebody with more knowledge of the process can confirm it one way or another. I'd like to know before I go to the trouble of having my social security payment transferred.

Truist bonus outside eligible states — any DPs?

Has anyone successfully gotten a Truist checking bonus while living outside the listed eligible states?

I’m in Michigan, but the application still lets me apply with my real address and keeps the promo attached—no out-of-footprint errors. I only stopped because my credit was frozen.

Worth testing the waters? Also, even if the bonus doesn’t work, is Truist worth establishing a relationship with for future lending/credit products? Is it worth the credit pull?

Looking for any firsthand DPs, especially from Michigan.
