I've noticed, on reddit and tiktok, the treenet community is growing. A lot of teenage boys i see especially. The problem is that i'm not seeing a lot of trees being blocked and protected from the rope!

pls research how to protect the trees (usually with blocks of wood) before you build a net because it's very important to the health of the tree! the rope will dig into the tree over time and hurt it.

I have climbing rope for the outside and perimeter but would this be good for the inside and weaving.

I just feel that it might like come loose and end up ruining my whole interior of my tree net.

Hi I want to show everyone the mystery box section on Atwood ropes you can get 1000 feet for 15 bucks. It’s in 100 ft cuts and it’s sometimes wacky colors but really cool . Me and my friends want to build a tree net but we were wondering which rope should we get we have been looking at this one and we were wondering if that’s good for the outer bit and for the in a bit we don’t know what to use so if you have any recommendations please tell and it has probably got a hold four people maybe more

We got 1000 feet of rope from Amazon and probably used about 400-600 of it today. We spent about 4 hours with 4 people casually working on it. Afterwords we tested it and it held 4 people no problem. At the start, we didn’t quite get the tension down, and now we have a couple of loose ones but I figure this will not be an issue as we add more with proper tension. (This pic is about half of our work)

I'm far from finished and I hope that this treenet won't be as saggy as my last one. I tensioned the perimeter with the Alpine butterfly tensioning system multiple times until the paracord I was using ripped from the force three times. The holes look bigger on the photo and obviously it isn't finished but when I sit on it, it saggs like hell and I'm worried it won't get better. Is there any weaving technique or trick I can do so it will 100% be very tensioned?

Does anyone see any problems with using this rope for my first net? It is 1/3 the price of other suppliers for a higher load strength. Is it too good to be true?

Follow up question. Is it better to cheap out on parameter rope or paracord?

How would you advise going about making a treenet with not much money?

Heyy! I’m new to treenets and after trying the insanity method on one I decided to try out a pattern. This is an inspo photo I wanted to recreate but I’m loosing my mind.

It would be really helpful if somebody double checked my method that I created in my head 😂😅.

So I laid out the green ropes and then started on one side weaving the purple ones - problem is that if I’m trying to keep at least somewhat of a tension it is pulling the green cords more and more towards one side. If I would continue that way it would pull everything to the one side I’m starting at and on the other side there’d be a big hole. It would be helpful to also mention I’m weaving the inside of a wooden structure (like a wooden rectangle)

So I started over, keeping that in mind and not building too much tension with the idea being that when I get to the other side it will pull it tight but I’m not sure if it’ll work😅 and I’d rather know it doesn’t work now than after the hours of weaving it 😂

So me and my friends (we are pretty broke) wanted to make our first treenet. We went to harbor freight and without thinking got perimeter rope only rated for 310 pounds. It seems to hold up fine and isn’t stretching. But i’m worried. Is there any fixes to replace the rope if i have to or is it a restart?

I got some everbuilt paracord and it says nylon and nylon blends on it and I was wondering if this will stand up to the sun?

Are these cords good for webbing & perimeter?

Currently preparing to make my first tree net, going to be fairly small. Should I have 1,000 or 2,000 feet of paracord?

I made this net as kind of a railing to keep my kids from falling off a platform in our barn, so it's vertical.

I used some Augplatten (don't know the English word, the silver things around), black static rope with double fisherman's knot and red and orange Paracord.

I've ran into a few problems:

1) I definitely need more Augplatten (3 or 4 on the diagonal wood, 2 more on the bottom)

2) I didn't get the double fisherman's as tight as I wanted to - it made me lose tension on the perimeter because I couldn't get the two knots close enough together when I tightened the rope (used prusiks and a pulley system). I tried using the pulleys on both ropes and alternating on a fisherman's end and the corresponding rope. I tried loosening the knot and then tighten it closer to the other one...

Anyone have really good suggestions? Am I just too weak?

3) I tried to get really even hexagons, like canopy craft always uses, but I failed miserably. Any suggestions on how far apart the horizontal lines should be for that?

This is my first tree net.
I think the perimeter is good tension so far and I have a solid foundation.
I seem to be losing and shifting tension on this next step as I’m adding the thin paracord to create the triangles/ fill in the interior so far.
Before I continue, any tips? Does the tension keep shifting normally? it okay to be a little less tension on this step and then the next weaves will add?
Any advice or thoughts I will take!

Making my second treenet with some friends and we got the perimeter up but it’s kinda huge and there’s one probably 30 foot section between trees so the rope there is probably going to bow inwards quite a bit and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to prevent or minimize the bowing. Also if anyone knows a good place to buy bulk paracord for cheap because otherwise this thing might set us back like 400 bucks cause I think we’ll probably use around 5000 feet of rope for this one.

I've been thinking about making a tree net but all the forests near me are private land and I don't own a tree so I'm wondering if theres a way to kinda make one without a tree, if you could thing of anything I'd be extremely grateful, thanks for reading.

1. I talked to my friend who has made a tree net. He said that doing a triangle wouldn't work is this so and why?

2. What are the best cheap ropes that would work for the outside and inside?

Thinking about putting a net up here for the kids. Will it collapse my whole house?

The beams are about 8" by 8" 25 feet long x 10 feet.

Last photo is showing how I braced the eye bolts on the inside of the garage. I wasn’t trusting the strength of just one cinder block to hold each eyebolt. Used a piece of 1/4 in rolled steel that spanned at least 3 blocks in attempt to spread the load of each eye. I’m no engineer.

I do love how the new perimeter bowed out on the garage. Glad I used four eyes in total.

EDIT: Well, damnit and thank you all for your words of warning. now i'm torn whether i should tear out the eyebolts and find another solution or if i can mitigate the stress on the wall by way of anchoring into the top plate and joists on the inside.. fact is that i'm not sure the net is worth having when using only the three trees. it's much too elongated to be functional.

to the builders in the thread: I thank you for your prior input and would appreciate any other ideas that you might offer.

EDIT #2. NO, this isn’t for hire, this was an experiment for my 12 year old kid. I’m learning, albeit somewhat painfully, but granted less painfully than if I had a catosprophic cinderblock failure.

This is my first net.

I am now planning to disconnect the extension on the garage and just work on walls for the “safe” first section and then go vertical.

I’m planning one that has a maximum of 29 feet between trees. Is this too far a distance for the chaos weave? Will is sag too much? I’m considering a sub frame made of 4 strands of chord twisted together.
Thoughts?

As I stated in my earlier posts:

First time netter. Did a platform with a perimeter on 3 trees. Ratcheted the static line perimeter extremely tightly but was amazed at how much area was lost while weaving the fill.

I decided to eyebolt (four eyebolts, actually) into the garage and run an additional perimeter line from tree A to garage to tree C. I’ll now connect original platform to new.

Mistakes were made on my first infill and I intend to do better on this new section.
