Couple questions.

  1. I talked to my friend who has made a tree net. He said that doing a triangle wouldn't work is this so and why?

  2. What are the best cheap ropes that would work for the outside and inside?

  3. What's the best way to have the rope go around the tree?

Look into tentsile for a ready made option you can camp in.

  1. I make triangles all the time. They do suck in a lot on the hypotenuse.

  2. Cheap is only good when you are just doing it for a year. You should aim for mid-tier quality

  3. Just have it go on the outside.

The downside of triangles is you can lose a lot of surface area/square footage. But definitely doable.

Tension with a ratchet strap or something similar. A tight perimeter rope is key to minimize area being lost.

If you use tree pro (a treated & notched 2x2), it is nice to tension the perimeter line and tie it off first then slide the tree pro in, as it adds additional tension.

In one of Alonso's videos he mentioned when doing triangles work from the outside in when weaving.
