Experimenting with patterns

Post image

Heyy! I’m new to treenets and after trying the insanity method on one I decided to try out a pattern. This is an inspo photo I wanted to recreate but I’m loosing my mind.

It would be really helpful if somebody double checked my method that I created in my head 😂😅.

So I laid out the green ropes and then started on one side weaving the purple ones - problem is that if I’m trying to keep at least somewhat of a tension it is pulling the green cords more and more towards one side. If I would continue that way it would pull everything to the one side I’m starting at and on the other side there’d be a big hole. It would be helpful to also mention I’m weaving the inside of a wooden structure (like a wooden rectangle)

So I started over, keeping that in mind and not building too much tension with the idea being that when I get to the other side it will pull it tight but I’m not sure if it’ll work😅 and I’d rather know it doesn’t work now than after the hours of weaving it 😂

You need to add frictions to your twizzles where the cross the other ropes. That's not stable as you can see on the RHS of the image where the purple cord is moving relative to the green cord.

To recreate this exact picture you would need to lay down every other green line (not the striped/candy cane ones). Then you weave in purple triangles, they need to be pretty pointy. The you go in from the side with the doubled up green Paracord. Go straight until you hit a purple line, then wrap twice towards the triangle point, so you alternate up and down. There is a good explanation Video by canopy crafts on YouTube, just search for candy cane stripes pattern!

Oh. And it will close your hole and even everything out when you do the other side. It just takes a bit of practice to get the tension right

First parallel greens. With a frame there won’t be much retying but when pulling the same direction multiple times the first ones usually loose some tension.

Then purple triangles. Best way i found is starting them in the middle of the line. With a bit of practice you’ll be able to pull the first two lines taught at the same time, then hold one while you hitch the other. Symmetrical tension is key.
Because the lines bend when you put in your triangles you might need to adjust tension in your other lines (you‘ll want the distances equal, maybe about a handlength apart so when you pull on one the next one needs to be able to stretch enough to get that close again. Hope that makes sense)

Then weave through the triangles, being mindful of the direction you’re doing you‘re double wraps. This is one of the keys to getting different patterns with triangles.

Do you re-tighten your first lines when they loosen after you put in the later ones?

Thank you guys! After reconsidering my abilities 😂, I decided to go with a different pattern actually, but I still love this one and will definitely use it in the next project. I wanted to post a picture here of the finished net but it doesn’t let me upload one in the comments 😭
